This guy could literally walk into any woods in the world and disappear for a few years and walk out healthier then when he started. Not many people in this world could do a quarter of what he does. Keep the content coming Greg my family loves watching you.
Canada is awesome. I've been fortunate enough to have spent equal time on the Pacific ocean as well inland southern BC, and its the kind of place that inspires you to gain knowledge. Wherever you are, go get inspired !
Thanks for the talk about us being the best subscribers Greg it was nice and I just want you to know my grandfather passed away two years ago and he was very much like you he was big into wilderness and fishing I allways remember in the start of spring he’d be out collecting wild onion garlic etc he loved the wilderness the same as you and I want to thank you for doing what you do because it brings back the memories I had with him so right on man your a great guy keep doing what your doing and don’t ever stop because there’s not many like you out there
I am so glad I found this dude's channel because I have an interest in learning this knowledge but it seems like most other bushcraft channels are just weird silent viedeos with no talking. I guess some people find that appealing but it's boring to me. And this guy is fun to listen to.
I feel like you're teaching me like I'm right there. Like a dear genuine friend or an uncle would. Love the movie clips. Your low calm voice, too. Thank you

Isn’t it crazy that life has brought you to this place of inspiring and helping people just being genuine and sharing your life with us it really is special Greg your a cool ass dude.
God Bless you Gregg and everything you do honestly you are a national Treasure of your craft !!! Keep these peaceful videos coming ! Your drops are the best on TH-cam bye far 🙏🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️✝️
You and I come from such different walks of life yet the same at the core. As an African I applaud your resource fullness when you only have your surroundings. You are truly an inspiration to keep fighting to live in the face of adversity. Keep on keeping on Sir!💚💛❤
Man, you are thanking us?? We should be thanking you!!! Thank you for imparting your Bush craft knowledge on us!! Totally agree with you on the quality of water... One of the reasons moved away from the city is so we could have well water again. Can't beat spring water straight from the rocks. Keep em' coming!!
I started my first fire with a ferro rod about a month ago. I remembered what I saw in your videos and put it to use. The feeling of making that fire was amazing and it makes me want to do more bushcraft and try camping. Your content is very entertaining and educational. Keep up the good work!
If you haven't ever camped I highly recommend it! If you need any help there's lots to learn from ovens. As long as your having an adventure your doing it right.
Was it about as easy as using a lighter? If you know how to lay a fire. A ferro rod is no more difficult than using a bic. Possibly even easier at times
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and spirit. I really appreciate how genuine and kind you are, and how much you respect the animals and Mother Earth.
I'm from newfoundland and I'm from around the bay and ill only get water from the spring! Making a tea with spring water is way better tasting then from the dirty old tap! You're 100% correct Greg!
Hell yea!!!! I love ur channel!!!!!! Ur such an inspiration to 17 year old kids stuck in the suburbs. I have no friends that want to do this stuff and everybody think I’m crazy cause I went out with a tarp and a sleeping bag and it wasn’t even below 0 haha.

Grunt, spit, scratch and breath fresh air! I sense adventures in your future!!! Have fun exploring the real world instead of the virtual world(s) of gaming (you won't regret it)!!!! You'll end up meeting up with others who like it, too, and making new friends the more you get out there. Start by hiking in your local city, county or state parks. Go have fun!!! :D

I work at a water treatment plant in West Texas and I would just like to point out, Not to be argumentative, but never the less, it is very important to put the correct amount of chlorine in the water system for disinfection purposes. The lake water we use in my town has to be filtered properly also. We add the correct dosage of ammonia, sodium chlorite and chlorine. Without this process, the drinking water would actually be poisonous! Cryptosporidium is a disease that is found in some water sources and can be fatal if consumed. The water plant processes are vital for clean potable water. This is just my input for what its worth. I think your channel is great Greg, good job, except for the comment about chlorine.
Yea but if Neighbors or even maybe you spill anything on the ground any kind of chemicals and motor oils any kind 0r pesticides even fertilizers people put in their yards all that drains down into the water table which pollutes it..so never just trust any water that comes out of the ground.. Unless it's coming from a mountain.. But I know what your saying tho..
Told my wife the other day if I had to survive be in a survival situation with someone it would be Greg. Great knowledge of plants and fire. I can make a shelter and fish with very little materials but idk nothing about plants and I think this guy could start a fire underwater! Plus he seems like a pretty cool laid back guy. Keep up the good work Mr. Ovens. My favorite survivalist to watch!!
Uncle Greg! The shaved beard! Love your videos. This one was great! I need snow shoes and can't afford to buy some, so I'm going to try and make some. Thanks bud 👍 yer awesome

In 2005 I went over to the island of Man, in the Irish sea. There was an old man who lived in a village near Castletown in the south. He walked several kilometers into town and back for his supplies, built his own greenhouse beside his home when he was 99 years old, (I mean built it by hand, himself). he lived until he was 101 or 102, shortly before I arrived. While I was there, the local water board closed off a spring near where this man lived, saying the water was unfit for human consumption. This spring was the old man's only source of water. It was a big joke among the locals. Thanks again Greg for another fine video.
Hey Greg, I've subscribed to your channel yesterday. I definitely enjoy your style. You are not promoting only useful junk, but instead you are definitely teaching us how to enjoy your time in the woods with minimal gear. Now... your opinion on what you take with you will be pure gold for myself, because to be honest, I am really tired of useless youtube channels that are promoting useless stuff. I need someone like you with a lot of experience to say what it is really necessary. (Firelighter is already in my small bag.) Stay strong and God bless you.

Back in the 1980's I made a pair snowshoes like this. Mine were the long ones, similar to trail breakers.....anyway, they worked pretty well, but then I found a hollow spot under the snow and broke one. Not good! It was fun until then though.
i am very glad to see someone enjoying the Canadian rocky mountains as much as i did when i was younger, i was forces to move into the city when i was 12 and have not visited since, glad i can still feel like i am back home with these videos
Hi Greg ive commented many times, what i like about you and other Canadians like Joe Robinet and the Baird brothers is that you are natural, down to earth, no airs n graces, the sort of fella you want to sit down and have a pint with, much the same as us here in the UK, you have some fab projects to help people do what you do and always make something out of nothing, many youtubers Zach being an exception are all about how big their boat is and what the weather is going to be like in the Bahamas, ive unsubscribed from many of them, they dont need the money or deserve it like you do. keep up the great work, your videos are fab, fun and entertain us for hours. best wishes from West Cumbria, England
