Thanks for all your lessons and this one Mr PDX you have a great way of making them easy to learn and understand, keep making them if you have the time again thank you for these lessons
Man, I just want to say thank you. I attempted to learn this solo last year, but got discouraged from other lessons on it. This is the perfect format of how to teach a guitar solo. Break it up into digestible sections, play each up to speed a couple times and slowly. The theory/scales used is just icing on the cake! Just fantastic content on your channel, but any chance you can do more Warren DeMartini in the near future I'll be there! Cheers and happy new year brother! \m/
Wow. THANK YOU, bro'. I used to learn solos by having to rewind cassette tapes over and over and over...like a caveman. Anyway, with guitar lovers like you, there is NO EXCUSE for anyone who claims to be a guitarist to not play these classic rock gems the right way. Again, please keep up the good work to help us keep the torch brightly and honestly lit on the music ever created for true guitar freaks!!!🤟😎👍🎸🎼🎶
Dude, thank you for showing the intro lick the MUCH MUCH easier way to play it, even sounds more correct compared to the stupidly awkward sweeps I was trying to do instead, the slides are way easier. Thank you.
Just wow bro...you are the best on the web...your teaching style is the best as well. You are an amazing player and teacher...thanks for all your efforts to bring these solos out to us and make it easy to learn. Keep up the amazing work. Ps, maybe "Heaven Sent and/or "Till the living end" by George Lynch of Dokken?...please, please, please!....LOL!. Cheers bro!
Hey thanks bro, your comment is awesome! As for Lynch, I'm not sure I have done any Dokken lessons yet... it's probably time though! I will keep those in mind! :)
I can do a great van halen cover or STP or Ozzy or Alice in chains at least in the shower I think I sing exactly like em. Anyways if you ever do a collaboration for halen STP or air keep me in mind, thanks.
Great lesson dude! I loved how you showed the theory behind the solo which such few guitar teachers do. Huge Warren and Ratt fan. Would love to see you do "Can't Wait On Love" and "Top Secret" solos from Detonator. Keep up the great work!
I love your lessons really appreciate you doing them and always well taught and explained I would really love to see you do poison until you suffer some fire and ice I think Ritchie Kotzen did such a tasteful solo and really liked the phrasing on it thanks again it would take me forever to figure out some of these solos without the help!!
Your playing is so on point and dropping some theory knowledge too. I aspire to be worthy of these awesome lessons. My grasp of any kind of music theory is non existent, so I really appreciate you covering that. Thanks for sharing all these fantastic videos with us. I love your lessons and love me some Ratt. Feel they are somewhat under appreciated but I sure wore out a couple of cassettes back in the day...lol
Thanks Gary! I agree Ratt and Warren in particular do not get the appreciation these days that they deserve. For me, the one that I definitely over-listened to was Out of the Cellar. First, when it initially came out and was one of the more popular hard rock albums of the summer of '84, and then a few years later I revisited it when I started getting more proficient on the guitar and realized how kick ass the playing was.
Thank you! I like the theory being it. The opening bend and descending Mixolydian run are super catchy. Everything sounds kinda exotic except for the minor pent phrases, but it really isn't.
Thanks! The guitar is a Jackson Custom Shop Soloist. There is no amp - I'm running through a Line 6 POD HD500, direct into my PC (since upgraded to the Line 6 Helix).
Ive played this by ear and somehow couldnt quite get the faster bit in the beginning and now I know its the miksolydian. I was close minded and wasnt thinking major at all. I was just this wonderful slippery thing
Thanks! And yes, it's a Soloist SL24, built by their Custom Shop. I actually have a video where I go through all of the specs, here on my TH-cam channel :)
@@PDXguitarfreak Wonderful...I'm curious, do you prefer these neck-through Strat type guitars or bolt-ons ?? Can you demonstrate the Van Halen song ''5150'' ?? Or how about the classic from Fair Warning ''Dirty Movies'' 💘 🎸 🍇 🍷 🍒
Fuckin' love it bro. It just feels so darn solidly well built. Thought I have to say from a "playbility" standpoint, my J.Custom is the fave. This one comes close though!
Good lesson PDX! Yes, finally someone talking about doing full step bends with the index finger.
Dave, you keep raising the bar with these lessons! I really appreciate the breakdown of the scales/modes!! Thank you!!!
Thanks bro, I appreciate the nice comment!

Awesome Bro! That takes me back to the good ole days. Damn I love 80's metal. Thanks Dave for the flashback yet again.
Thanks Dave! Back when people still made rock music fun!
Just found your channel, seems to be one of the best for learning solos, thorough and accurate.
Thanks Tom, I'm glad you like it! Time to rock! :)

Invasion was by far the best Ratt album of all. Every song is epic.

Fantastic job!!
Thank you! I like the theory being it. The opening bend and descending Mixolydian run are super catchy. Everything sounds kinda exotic except for the minor pent phrases, but it really isn't.
You are nailing the tone! What guitar and amp are you using? Effect? Great lesson!
Thanks! The guitar is a Jackson Custom Shop Soloist. There is no amp - I'm running through a Line 6 POD HD500, direct into my PC (since upgraded to the Line 6 Helix).
I played the shit out of this album.. Nice man!
Thanks man! Those were the days!
Ive played this by ear and somehow couldnt quite get the faster bit in the beginning and now I know its the miksolydian. I was close minded and wasnt thinking major at all. I was just this wonderful slippery thing
You always sound as good or better than the original recording itself ..what kind of wizardry is this?? 😁
Very professional lesson. Good deal
Thanks Joe! :)
Well played! I’m sure it’s a very hard solo, so many sub attempts here on YT. Yours sounded pretty much identical.
theses lessons rock 🎸 🎶
Thank you Gregg! :)
Would you show how to play ratt giving yourself away? I've been trying to learn it🎸🤘
Hey man, I will have to add it to the looong list :) Rock on!
I'm sorry I have a quick question. What effects are you using and what amp sounds really nice love your guitar tone.
Very very nice, as always !! What kind of model Jackson specifically is that ? Soloist 2h ?
Thanks! And yes, it's a Soloist SL24, built by their Custom Shop. I actually have a video where I go through all of the specs, here on my TH-cam channel :)
