    I had all of these about 5 months ago. I was in full alcohol withdrawal and I could hear the SWAT team gathering outside my room. About 12 hours later I could hear voices that I can only hear as demonic. It scared the hell out of me. After about 2 and a half days it went away. Scary stuff.

      Yeah, the hallucinations can be absolutely brutal. I went into a pretty bad alcohol withdrawal not too long ago, perhaps not quite true DTs but bad enough to cause the audio (and in a couple cases, visual) hallucinations. I very vividly remember falling “asleep” for around 1-2 minutes every couple hours and being suddenly startled back awake, and hearing a loud hissing sound for a moment. Another thing that happened several times was I would very loudly hear my neighbor’s voice sounding like she was being violently abused, which was obviously really disheartening to hear, and then the voice would kind of fade out after a minute or so and I’d be left wondering if that was even real. I’m convinced that alcohol withdrawal allows some kind of demon to get into your head and start doing really messed up things. And that kind of stuff was only the more mild side of it… I don’t ever want to experience anything like that again.

      @@PERTEKofficial the wierd begining of this was the lack of sleep starting too take over while drinking and the dreams started too come more real life too the extent of outbursts at people that were not there,,but everything seemed so much ok at the time,, never get good halucination voices,,there were all evil and spoke nastly,, Alcohol had a dark side hiding and grew up with no explanation or warning ,,i struggled too ask about the situation because not many survived the experience,luckly videos like these give you advice your looking for

      @@andrewjohnson8986 yep, I can 100% relate to that. Alcohol destroys REM sleep, so even when you’re drinking enough to get yourself to “fall asleep”, you still don’t get any REM sleep, which is the restful part that you need for your brain to work correctly. If you’re not getting that, “sleeping” for 8 hours is like getting 30 minutes of actual sleep. Eventually you reach that point where your brain starts entering a dream state while you’re awake, which only gets amplified to an extreme when you go into withdrawal (at least I think)
      I’m sure when you were going through withdrawal, you probably also got those really screwed up “dreams” from hell for the brief moments that you ended up getting those microsleeps, I think that’s the reason that happens. There were a few of those that happened to me where I was just in my apartment, and this very strange lady would also be there. She’d never say anything, but in the first one she just entered and stayed completely motionless. In the 2nd one, there was a loud knocking on my door that kept getting faster and faster, and she was just standing there looking at me like “well, are you going to answer it?” - felt like death was knocking on my door and she was trying to get me to let it in… and again, these were just the “mild” dreams. There were a lot of them that I had that were absolutely terrifying, anything from very vividly getting shot through the heart and feeling every moment of it (that’s what happened when I answered the door in one of these dreams) to things that were purely demonic for lack of a better word.
      Honestly, it’s crazy to me that this is the legally and socially acceptable drug. I’ve done a few psychedelics before and have had a bad trip once or twice, and that doesn’t even compare to how alcohol withdrawal feels/does. Alcohol is the only drug I’ve ever used that ends up doing _that_.
      Anywho, I am glad that videos like these exist. I knew alcohol withdrawal was obviously not pleasant, but I didn’t know it does _that_ until I experienced it myself. But it’s thanks to videos like these that helped me understand how long it’ll last and when I’d start feeling normal again, and even if I’d need to go to the hospital. Honestly, these kinds of videos have probably saved a lot of lives.

    Is there any difference between DT's and alcoholic hallucinosis?

    • @AndrewKimMD
      @AndrewKimMD  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      They’re different. Alcoholic Hallucinosis is when you have hallucinations in the absence of delirium during withdrawal. You’ll know what year, month, date it is, what’s going on around you, yet…. Be having visual/auditory hallucinations. I should have a video on it somewhere either in my general alcohol withdrawal video or possibly a dedicate video in the “addiction recovery” playlist
