Welcome to the NF family! Haven't watched your reaction yet but I'm just going to say that you have stumbled into something that has changed the lives of many. I absolutely love watching someone find NF for the first time because it brings me back to how I felt the first time that I heard his music. I found NF during the darkest point in my life and his music literally saved me. Please react to leave me alone next as it is the follow-up song to this one. Edit: NF is his initials. Stands for Nathan Fuerstein. A lot of people make the comparison to Eminem. Nate mentions in his songs that he grew up listening to Em and he's definitely been a big influence on his music. They are both from, Michigan. However, IMO the differences far outweigh the similarities of these two. You caught on that his house that he speaks about is his head. You'll find out more about that in his song called Mansion. The cage that was in the beginning of the song represents the mental cage that he has locked himself inside (Outcast). The shopping cart is a mobile version of this cage. The balloons represent his burdens or his dark thoughts. He's not and you may find that you have heard one of his songs before. He has had very little radio play but his song let you down was all over the place. The best and most perceptive reaction to this, as far as first reactions go, that I have ever seen. As many have said, you must do the "NF Journey", that is starting with "Intro I" (there are also "Intro II" and "Intro III" that come much later) and watching/listening to all his songs in order, they build off of each other. Though not every song has a music video, they are all good enough for one. Though you could watch his music video for "Story" from his new mix tape, without losing anything, because it's not really a part of the journey, it's worthy of an Oscar in the Short Film category.

Most will advise you to skip his "Moments" album (his independent debut from back in 2010) - at least for now (even Nate admits that it wasn't that good; although it's fun to go back and give it a listen eventually)... I'd recommend that you begin with the "Mansion" album, as follows. 1. Intro (video) 2. Mansion (lyric video only) 3. All I Have (video) 4. Wait (video) 5. Wake Up (video) 6. Notepad (video) 7. Paralyzed (lyric video) [There are 4 other tracks on that album that some might not consider "essential" to the Journey ("Face It", "Motivated", "I'll Keep On", and "Can You Hold Me"). Edited to say the shopping cart is a representation of a “cage” he’s locked himself in (his mind). It’s his “mobile“ cage. You’ll understand better if you take the journey. At the very beginning of the video, you can see the bigger cage he let himself out of on the distance. This is why you need to go in order. He let himself out in an earlier song and video. All of his songs tie together in some way or the other. His recent Mixtape album is the only one that really stands alone and is only slightly connected. You can react to those songs in any order. And yes, NF doesn’t cuss. He is mainstream, not TH-cam only but he is very underrated.

His let you down song hit one billion streams on Spotify and is 6 times platinum and had HUGE radio play. So he has songs on radio. More in depth explanation of balloons and cart 🖤 Within the video for “The Search” NF gestures to his black balloons while stating: “Grabbin’ my keepsakes, leavin’ my burdens/Well, I brought a few with me, I’m not perfect,” indicating that the balloons are symbolic of the problems that continue to plague him in spite of his growth. The black balloons are his burdens. For the shopping cart part- he had the cage in background as an egg in search song from outcast song video from his perception album. the cage represents his mind-(he also tours with the cage) NF brings the cart everywhere he goes, perhaps using the vehicle as a smaller, more portable version of the cage he once kept himself in. Considering the similar structure of the cart, it seems possible that the artist uses the cart when his feelings of entrapment return. In the closing moments of the video for “The Search,” NF climbs into the cart, folding up into the fetal position. Not really a pain since all of the songs on the journey are amazing. So for someone who’s never heard it all, it’s a gift in a way. Not just to understand the references in later songs but simply because his music is amazing and even more so when you understand it better.

Edited to say the shopping cart is a representation of a “cage” he’s locked himself in (his mind). It’s his “mobile“ cage. You’ll understand better if you take the journey. At the very beginning of the video, you can see the bigger cage he let himself out of on the distance. This is why you need to go in order. He let himself out in an earlier song and video. All of his songs tie together in some way or the other. His recent Mixtape album is the only one that really stands alone and is only slightly connected. You can react to those songs in any order.

Him talking to himself is an "internal dialog" he's letting you in on.. he refers to "getting the noose out", but it's to hang his heart out with.. the black balloons are his burdens ( bad thoughts, weaknesses, insecurities, etc )..

Within the video for “The Search” NF gestures to his black balloons while stating: “Grabbin’ my keepsakes, leavin’ my burdens/Well, I brought a few with me, I’m not perfect,” indicating that the balloons are symbolic of the problems that continue to plague him in spite of his growth. The black balloons are his burdens.
For the shopping cart part- he had the cage in background as an egg in search song from outcast song video from his perception album. the cage represents his mind-(he also tours with the cage)
NF brings the cart everywhere he goes, perhaps using the vehicle as a smaller, more portable version of the cage he once kept himself in. Considering the similar structure of the cart, it seems possible that the artist uses the cart when his feelings of entrapment return. In the closing moments of the video for “The Search,” NF climbs into the cart, folding up into the fetal position. While NF left the Perception outcast song cage behind, reaching a new pinnacle of success in the process, he continues to face feelings of fear, doubt, and pain just as any of us.

This is the NF journey as we call it because he intertwines his music like marvel movies. You can do clouds the mixtape first honestly or mix those songs in but you have to go back to get his references and catch the hidden eggs.
All four albums is like a connected series. For instance in his when i grow up song, paid my dues, leave me alone, and why song, the black smile is the fake smile that he mentions in therapy session song.
He hides eggs in his videos. In when i grow up song there was two hidden eggs in that song. A black balloon by the trash cans and in burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. He had outcast name tag on in the janitor part from his Outcast song. Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song.
