Try your hood switch. Underneath the hood is a black rubber switch bend it up a little towards the hood and your remote start should work.. all door’s including hood has to have that closed signal for your remote start to work..

Had a similar issue with our Grand Caravan. Check engine light on, but the issue there was a bad EGR valve. If you have a code reader, hopefully it will point you in the right direction Chino7.
Thank you. I hadn't O2 sensor that was out with the check engine light on. I was going to take my 2013 Ford F-150 to the dealership, but all I had to do was change the O2 sensor and my remote start started working again.
I beg to differ, Jeffery. Many just put up with a check engine light on thinking it does not effect anything. It does, actually! As seen here. Many are just scared to take it to a shop worrying that they will get ripped off! (That can happen)
It might be, Juanita! Does it say what’s wrong with it? Mine was a heater circuit. If your vehicle is burning oil, that can cause issues. A cheap sensor can fail sooner. A wire could have broken or a wire connector could be corroded causing a false code as well.
Well I tried it 3×. Nothing worked. When I Hit The Switch.... A multiple gun shot noise happened for 15 seconds. Now that would be a car theft, but they may return fire. A crime scene!!!! I need assistance thank you.

I forgot to relearn a new battery I installed in the truck. Used my code reader and it had a battery reset. Did that and all of the sudden remote start is working again... good times.
Have not had to ever do the battery relearn on anything...yet. Good your code reader can do it, Rainier! You (and I) would hate to pay a shop to do it.
Yep. Reading the codes is just the start Wayne. Many times it can even mislead you down the wrong path & you end up replacing parts that are good. Best to find a good mechanic (ask friends & workmates who they see) that you can trust to be honest & good at their job!
Pablo, your horn is probably responding means the key is sending a signal. It could be all sorts of issues. Vehicle thinks hood is opened for one thing. Could be something with your brake pedal switch. Impossible to do anything without being there. Is there a fuse in the vehicle for the remote that is blown? Those are some simple things. Vehicle could have thrown a code that has not set off the check engine light & the computer is upset. You could scan it for codes. Just a couple quick ideas.
Dead FOB battery, faulty remote FOB, faulty receiver at vehicle. A good tire scan tool can tell if you remote is sending a signal. I wonder too if there is a fuse for your remote start on the vehicle. Is it a factory remote start?

That is another good point. If you saw the fix to this exact situation, (check engine light on) the repair of the o2 sensor fixed the problem and the remote works again!

Have you tried letting the vehicle idle for 15-20 minutes after clearing the codes ? Computer needs to reboot itself at idle
I did not. After the fix, all has been good. No more issues and it has been over 2 years now.

My check engine light is on because of the dreaded P0016 and my remote start worked. For some reason it's not now
