I love how much you love floppy books 😂 floppy books are the best. Needed a relaxing video to watch before bed so was really happy to see you uploaded this haul! Seriously wish I had a bookstore near me that sold books that cheap.
I love love love that you do these book hauls!!! This has gotten me back into reading and I forgot how much I missed it!! :) Goodbye netflix hello books! :)
Outlander is AMAZING! I've started the series years ago when my grandma gave the first four books. I took awhile before reading them because my covers where horribly cheesy. But OMG! I'm addicted to them. I kept rereading them on and off throughout the years. AWESOME! They keep getting better and better as you advance. I'm a huge huge fan. ❤️
It's definitely slower paced than a lot of fantasies. It really takes its time building the world and setting the back story and I know that may put some people off but I love it overall. I think it's a great feminist fantasy series and overall very relevant to what's happening in this country. Hope you enjoy it!
I loved your reaction to the signed copy!! Hahahhahaha. Such a fantastic haul of excellent books and a fun video. Love your enthusiasm. Good luck in the read-a-thon weekend.
So many of these books are on my reading list and this video convinced me to add even more!! I read A Great and Terrible Beauty (and the rest of the Gemma Doyle series) about 7 years ago while I was in high school and I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was good and the story gets pretty creepy, so it's definitely a good read for the fall! So glad to see that you uploaded today, I love both of your channels 😊
I read Dark Matter a few weeks ago and really loved it! Also, A Great and Terrible Beauty takes me back a few years - I read that so long ago. Same with Secret Life of Bees - definitely a good read. The Thief was great too... omg I'm going back in time right now hahahahaha
Yay you posted! I missed your videos so much it has felt like forever i know you are probably busy but yeah I just love your videos :) also Outlander is amazing beyond anything i have read the whole series three times its that good! And Anansi Boys is a really good book you will love it :)
Definitely put The Nightingale higher on your TBR, it's the best book I read this year. It's also great if you're just getting into historical fiction, because it's extremely character-driven and not very heavy. Absolutely gorgeous book. Will pull on your heartstrings.
Wow!!! So many books!! But such great ones. I recently finished A Monster Calls and it was really good. I'm literally about to start 'You' and your description of it has made me even more excited to begin. I'm also hoping to read Birdbox because I heard it's really good...lol I realise that I want to read most of the books you mentioned so I may as well stop listing now. Great haul though. Hope you enjoy them all.
I love the Lux series (i read all books in 4 and a half days), and Shatter Me is just amazing. Have not make my list what to read for the dewys 24hrs read a thon yet .
Haha, I remember when I read More Than This, I was halfway through and I still didn't know what was happening but I just couldn't put it down. I love Patrick Ness.
So happy you're back! I've been wanting to read "Quiet" by Susan Cain for over a year now, so glad to see it on someone else's reading list! Can't wait to hear what you think of it! ❤️️
So many books, bookworm paradise :) i loved 13 reasons why, the shatter me series and the infernal devices series, you'll enjoy them I'm sure!! also about a week or so ago i finished reading the archived and the unbound and really enjoyed them, i recommend
The Passage is a great book, well worth the read ~ the 2nd one wasn't quite as good, but still good, I am now waiting on the last in the trilogy from the library. Have fun reading,. Love your channel.
when you buy series do you have a preference for consistency of the covers? I find that when i buy series i either have to buy all paperback or all hardcover, and the covers all have to be similar designs..
Trust me I do prefer consistency too but for 1-4$ I'll take it! Worse case scenario when I find the right cover I'll just switch them up and make someone else happy :)
Also, how did you hear about the VV book sale? The last time they had a sale they said the books weren't included.. I live in Halifax so not sure if it would be different in Quebec?
Haruki Murakami is one of my all time favorite authors!!! Norwegian Wood is great, but in my opinion The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles is even better. If you see it, I recommend picking it up :) Great haul Emily!
Thanks to Emily I read Girl On the Train going into it thinking I wouldn't like anyone (I didn't) and it made it way better probably than if I thought I'd like anyone.
Wow, I just found your book and beauty channels, and I love them both so much! Girl on the Train - oh my god, Anna! I just wanted terrible things for her. Hope you enjoy Brave New World, I love that one. The Nightingale, Bird Box, and You are all on my tbr.
I read a great and terrible beauty years ago and I remember finishing it late at night and being scared so badly at the end. I don't think the rest of the book was scary but just the end I was terrified lol I might have to reread it to figure out why. Also I love how excited you are about finding the whole lightbringer series hahaha
Holy crap you're really filling up those book shelves!! You get the best deal on books too!!! The Secret Life of Bees is one of my favorite books! Keep your eyes peeled for The Lovely Bones, Water for Elephants and Memoirs of a Geisha cuz those are some great "classics" as well. The Perks of Being a Wallflower too which I know I'm repeating myself lol I've had Thirteen Reasons Why on my list for awhile so I can't wait to see your review! Did I mention a million times how happy I am that you have a book channel? Lol
Well the bookshelves were pretty empty, I got good deals and honestly needed the moral boost :P I've seen these 3 a lot a VV but never picked them up but I'll have to! Did I mention I'm happy to have you? :)
You should read The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom... I read for a project and absolutely loved it. It can be a bit confusing at first but it isn't very long
I'm so happy you're back! :) I kept forgetting to recommend Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind, but now you have it and it is so good! I loved it! Thirteen Reasons Why is really nice as well! You should check out Starters by Lissa Price, it's pretty good. :)
Yay!! I needed some reading inspiration! I'm currently reading Order of Phoenix (ofc haha). Em, have you read The Girl on the Train? If so, how did you find it?
You mentioned that the cashier shoved a book in the bag and bent the cover and I literally cringed! I hate when my books get bent. Even if it means just one page! You definitely read a lot and have inspired me to get back into reading. We have a lot of the same books from what I see on your shelf behind you so I'm hoping to get some good recommendations from you!
"I wasn't born in the eighties"...and that's when I realized I'm old as shit, haha. All of the Neil Gaiman books you hauled are fantastic (of course). I'm also a big Outlander fan and the show is so well done, as well, which is rare for book adaptations.
I gasped when I saw you holding The Lies of Locke Lamora! I loved it so much, for me it is up there with Harry Potter as in how much I'm obsessed with it! And I am kinda torn because I have this and red Seas under Red Skies in my language but they didn't translate the other books in the series, but I think I'll just give in and buy them in English (I have a thing about having the series in the same language but for Gentleman Bastard I can get over it).
A few recommendations since we seem to have similar taste in books: Assassin's Apprentice, The Name of the Wind, Eragon, and Ender's Game! Hope you enjoy :D
Assassin's Apprentice - on my TBR The Name of the Wind - I really want to read it but I want to wait until the third book is announced... I'll probably crack and read it anyway Eragon - Adding it to my TBR Ender's Game - read it! :)
The girl that bent the book ... Man! That's happened to me a couple times too. And that's why I converted to an e-reader. As much as I like the physical action of turning a page, I get waaaay too OCD over the condition of my books😅😅😅
The Secret Lives of Bees is one of my all-time favourites, it's such a special book! I cried at several points of it, haha. Make sure to read it when you're in a slightly melancholic mood =)
Emily if you liked "The Girl on the Train" I think you would really like "I Let You Go" ! Soo glad you make this book channel. Would love to see a video on your top fave series
Funny (or not so funny) I had order it on book outlet but it sold out by the time they were doing my order so I didn't get it :S Will get it at one point for sure :D
Read Lies of Locke Lamora this summer and it was such a great, fast read! I hated Girl on the Train, I found it predictable :/ The only V E Schwab book I've read is A darker shade of Magic and I loved it! I loved You but I've not been able to finish the sequel :/ Ocean at the end of the lane is an elderly man who returns to his home town and his childhood memories/magical realism stuff ensues. It's very well written and lovely and I don't want to give the plot away but I'd recommend it as a fall read. I DNFed Attachments, hope you enjoy it more than I did. I've not read any other Rainbow Rowell though. As you like high fantasy, have you read the farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb? I'm currently on book 2 and I am loving it!
I just got The Girl on the Train from the library. I'm kind of hesitant now, because no one is likeable! I will try and read it before the movie though :D
When she said that they're not that likeable, none of them are very nice, but altogether you can see the good side and the bad side. The story is so good!! I hope you enjoy it!
If you're looking for non-fiction books, Angela's Ashes (+ its 2 sequels) by Frank McCourt is awesome, it's a memoir about a boy growing up poor in Ireland in the '40s and The Raven Cycle series (4 books) by Maggie Stiefvater is amazinggg, if you ever happen to stumble upon them! They're fiction (and maybe more so for high schoolers, honestly) but theyre pretty short and involve a fair amount of mythology and magic :)
this is the first booktube video ive watched where ive actually read a ton of what youre interested in. a monster calls made me cry like a baby, one of the maybe 3 books ive cried at. a great and terrible beauty is fun! i read it for booktubeathon. it was a really quick read. if you read shatter me, make sure you finish the series. the third book is heaps better than 1 and 2. totally worth reading them to get to book 3. attachments is lots of fun too! the unbecoming of mara dyer was so great omg. dont bother with the other two.
The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom is like the best non fiction book I've ever read, and I would really love if other people read it too. It is amazing!
You got a lot of good books! A Kiss Of Deception is amazing. It is a favorite of the year for me. I also read You and it was creepy and the girl was annoying lol I am currently reading The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and its really good.
La saga Kiss of Deception est vraiment bien! J'ai fini tous les livres y'a quelques mois et ils font partis des meilleurs livres que j'ai lu cette année !
I've read sword of truth series 1-4(I think 4?) and I enjoyed it! first 2 i liked better, though,so I think you will like them. you got me on VE schwab, just got the first 2 yesterday so excited, thanks! also, the Neil gaiman nerd crush is an amazing one, girl. love him! Favorite nonfiction: As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From the Making of the Princess Bride. I mean, it helps if you love the book/movie... Homeless to Harvard is interesting and will help put your life in perspective. There's also a lifetime movie =) Felicia Day's memoir "You're Never Weird on the Internet (almost) is probably my all time favorite, though. Big floppy paperbacks For the win!!!!!
I finished The Kiss of Deception trilogy this week and OH MY GOD SO GOOD! I highly recommend it, it's so intricate and political and it's just amazing.
I'm loving your lip and nail color :DI read The Girl on the Train and didn't think too much of it; the three main characters were insufferable. I watched the movie last week though, and really liked it! I feel like that was in part by Emily Blunt's fantastic acting. You got some awesome books. I'm thinking of picking up I See You
Some people get annoyed when I say the character are unlikable but it was really the case there! I was told that before so I overall enjoyed it - I need to watch the movie :)
I love how much you love floppy books 😂 floppy books are the best. Needed a relaxing video to watch before bed so was really happy to see you uploaded this haul! Seriously wish I had a bookstore near me that sold books that cheap.

It's definitely slower paced than a lot of fantasies. It really takes its time building the world and setting the back story and I know that may put some people off but I love it overall. I think it's a great feminist fantasy series and overall very relevant to what's happening in this country. Hope you enjoy it!

I love the "Sword of Truth" series, hope you'll enjoy this! I also really liked "The Passage" - the story is chilling at moments! What a great haul :)
