  • I’ll begin with an apology. I did not design this to be a 10 minute project. There is an optional window in the flip portion of this pocket folio that I create slowly to show you my easy method of ensuring that the front and back pieces of the window match up perfectly. If you skip the window, the project is much quicker and can be completed in 10-15 minutes. This is a great project for one sheet of 12” x 12” paper or several s raps that are comparable in size. This works as a stand alone pocket or can be glued down in your journal. Please know that my dimensions are listed to use up a sheet of 12” x 12” paper. This can easily be made larger or smaller, as needed. The cuts are at 7” x 12” and then that section is cut again at 5” x 7” and 5” x 7” with a 2” x 7” section remaining. From the top of the 5” x 12” piece, cut a section at 5” x 6 3/4” and then make a tuck spot at roughly 4” x 5”. You’ll have a scrap large enough to make the optional front closure and a decorative piece for a journaling card to go in your tuck spot. This also uses washi to hold the sections together. Thank you for watching and happy creating.

    Terrific project, Cori! Can’t wait to try this one! Some unsolicited advice from your pal...don’t worry about saying so, talking fast, etc. You just do you, because you’re absolutely lovely and are sharing wonderful things with all of us! If there is anything about any of us on TH-cam that bothers someone, they don’t have to watch. Period. This old girl has a pretty thick skin after four years of doing videos, but comments about my speech still bother me. Nothing I can change and unkind of whoever to point it out, but words do hurt. So...my friend, just do your thing and be yourself and all will be good. Those of us that appreciate you will be cheering you on! Thanks for sharing your projects and for sharing you! Love and hugs, dear one!! 🤗❤️

      You are the best. That was exactly what I needed to hear (because I heard those words, clearly, in “Gayle” voice.) I just need to remind myself of the purpose of my videos.... share the ideas, share the joy that playing with paper brings me and so many others. Thank you sweet friend. Those words of support and encouragement are well received 🥰

    Very clever method of cutting those dreaded windows out!!! I love putting together little flips, flaps, tucks and booklets thanks for sharing your tips and tricks im gonna whip up a few of these tonight! I need a little break from my current work in progress...I get bored so easily or I start obsessing and overthinking and second guessing myself...sometimes I wish I was one of those crafters that can just glue stuff down and not worry about the little imperfections...when I started making journals I figured that some day I'd be able to do that but here we are almost 10 yrs later still obsessing over straight lines or perfectly TORN edges!! lol

    • @CoriDahmen

    Does anyone complain that your videos are too long? Personally I like longer ones... you show and share more, and don't seem rushed. If one doesn't have enough time, that's what Watch Later (or pause) is for.
    I understand people like the machine sewn look, but for the life of me I don't know why (the tension and stitch quality is awful). Besides that, it weakens the piece because it's perforated. The thread is stronger than paper so with use, the thread will cut the paper between holes. I've seen many examples of that. (Students have asked how to fix the tears.) Then there's the juxtaposition with vintage style and modern technology. In the case of attaching clear plastic to paper, there are glues for that, sewing isn't necessary. But... people should do whatever they like. 🙂
    Anyway, thank you for sharing your creations. Your time and effort is appreciated. 👍❤️

      Thank you and welcome! I get mine through Simon Says Stamp. Be warned though, it can and will tear thin and fragile paper. I've had it tear cardstock too, so make sure it is not too sticky if you're using it on something a bit less sturdy.

    This is a really beautiful piece, I love all the details, especially the window. You have so much color in your leaves still! How do you dry them, just in a book, or some other method? TIA!

    The way you created the window is perfect. I am learning so many tips and tricks from this series. It is a must for all papercrafters. Can you tell me the number of sheets of paper you have put in each signature, in the fabric covered journal for this project? If you mentioned it, I missed it. Many thanks.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thank you. I made the book with five signatures ( turned out to be too many because of thickness) with four pages in each signature. So, 16 sides (or pages to decorate) per signature.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and it is a regular glue stick. I get it on Amazon. It is by no means perfect (I often use Art Glitter glue on the edges) but it lies flat and covers without bubbles... and best of all, no lumps or clumps!

    You can tell that you are a teacher because you explain the details very well. Thank you for that! Could you tell me where you got the purple tape or what I would look for in order to find it.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and sure! I love that stuff. SimonSaysStamp.com sells it and it’s called purple tape, or thermoweb purple tape. On Amazon it can also be found using purple tape or low tack adhesive. I would imagine anyone who carries thermo web adhesive would stick it. It’s a bit spendy for tape, but it is easily reused and a roll lasts me a good amount of time.

    You may speak fast, but I can pause, and back up repeatedly till I understand what you are saying. I'm profoundly deaf and in real life I lip read (masks are the bain of my existence lol), fortunately between what I can hear, CC and the visuals, I get by.

      You just warmed my heart. I have a huge soft spot and a deep respect for the hard-of-hearing and deaf community. I'm deaf in one ear (since birth) and only grasp a fraction of the challenges you can face on a daily basis. Note to self: ALWAYS turn on the caption option.
