The script isn't lazy the reason kratos is able to touch heimdall is because Heimdall senses is fuck up by the spear that is also the reason kratos is able to touch him without the spear I think heimdall would be able to defeat kratos before kratos finding a way to touch him since unlike hermes he is strong af being able to defeat thor in combat.

Then there's Hermes' lack of durability, which was overcompensated with his speed.

Well heimdall got foresight and can slow down time, so by that heimdall could slowdown time to react to Hermes in a fight
If were going by Lore then Thor solos Olympus cause Him and Jormungander Splintering Yggdrasil Massively Outscales anything from those Greek Games
But how does Hermes even scratch Heimdall?
Kratos did it. And he didn't have foresight.
Because Kratos was easily reacting to Hermes but couldn't touch Heimdall with his fastest attacks, Heimdall is faster than Kratos and has foresight on top of that and can slow down time, his reaction time is way better than Hermes, timing beats speed and Heimdall has both, there's really nothing Hermes can do to Heimdall besides run away

Heimdall reads minds. Hermes's mind is thinking way more faster than Heimdall's. Therefore Heimdall could not read Hermes's mind and act. There is simply no time.
That is not how Hermes works he’s just fast as fuck, if that was the case then. Kratos wouldn’t of been able to kill him because he, would have the same reaction speed as heimdall.

Heimdall can slow down time though… During the third phase of his boss fight after he uses the Bifrost to regenerate his arm he’ll slow down time. I don’t think he actually reads minds though, he just reads people that’s why he didn’t realize Kratos was trying to detonate the spear when he catches it he only knows that Kratos will attack. That’s also why he only suspected that Atreus would betray Odin and couldn’t say for sure when and why.

Heimdall can see the future but he has to react in time to avoid attacks, when he was threaten by thor when he bullied Atreus he left because he knows what thor is capable of. Hermes on the other hand can hit Heimdall because he is much more faster, kratos landed a hit on Heimdall because his fist is fast enough that Heimdall can't avoid it
I honestly think that annoying should have got to Hermes! Yes Heimdall is kinda annoying, but is also very cool, and I think Hermes is more annoying!
