Such a beautiful place and season. I have experienced minus 13 and 2 meters of snow and I loved it. The colder the better :) Snow is made for the camera. The lights and the shadows are stunning as is the subtle greys and blues in snow in shadow. Your appreciation of the cold air above the water and the reflections are beautifully poetic. Great place to demo the use of ND’s. I have them (but different brand) for my Pocket. Highly recommended.
They look to be a great set of filters. I’d mainly be using them for video and the polarisers are very attractive. But I’ve looked at the price and its a lot for me to afford at the moment. So I’ve put it on a wish list for when I’m feeling affluent!

Hi, I really enjoyed your vlog. I got the Osmo Pocket and have been collecting the filters one at a time. Great quality. I have the ND 4 and ND 32, plus the wide-angle. Do you change the shutter speed when you are using the polarizers?
Nope, I leave everything on auto because I'm moving the camera. Now if I put the camera down and pointed it in one direction, then I'd set the shutter speed.
Captain! I have learned so much from you about drone flying and photography! Now I can actually produce some great videos and photos, instead of just pictures of my fingers (lol)-seriously, though, it was almost that bad! On the OSMO pocket, there is little you can do to improve the video, due to the sensor size, so I left it on auto settings the entire time and let the filters do the work.
You would have to do that. Be careful doing that. When you see people on TH-cam talk abut setting the shutter speed to double the frame rate, most are just repeating what they heard someone else say. The rule is based on the old cinema film cameras that had an aperture, so when you try to do the same on a digital tiny OSMO POCKET with no aperture control, you may not like the results. Simple advice is to slap on an ND filter for the correct lighting, and see if you like the results. If not, then keep the ISO at 100 and see if you can lower the shutter slightly and still be happy with the results.

About 4 years ago, ND filters all had a green cast because they were pretty much all made in the same factory. Today, again pretty much all filters are made at the same factory, but the quality is perfect. My experience with Freewell filters is that they are certainly the best of the bunch.

hello, a nice and educational video for a person like me who is starting to make videos with osmo pocket. a tip if you know: I'm waiting for home polar filters to come, are they just as good as these? have you got to try them? thanks and congratulations again for the video
If you mean Polar Pro filters, they should be the same as the Freewell filters. Polar Pro is a small company and they have other companies make their filters which is why they cost so much. Most small filter glass in China is made in the same plant for many different brands.
That is correct. It is called contrast focus and that is how the OSMO works. It keeps checking to see if it is in focus by slightly moving in and out of focus.
CAPTAIN DRONE This is the one reason why I'm still holding back on the OP. Which focus setting does it hunt the least on? Can you lock focus? This has to be solved for a 350 piece.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for anwsering but i tryed it also in a room with alot of light coming in. Tryed to use fast follow but my hand still comes out blurry while moving. Still need some practicing
hey captain !!! Im a happy suscripter .:P. a question please .. the OP has any manual option to keep infinite focus like gopro ? I would like infinite focus for video.. thanks
Hmmm.... the Osmo only uses a focus for close up shots, everything else is in infinite mode. You'd have to attach a phone to have better control of the focus. You could not have it in infinite focus and then film objects within arms reach as everything would be blurry that is within arms distance.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 My mini-camera project is just for urban exploration, architecture and street scenes, well, if OP has an infinite focus, it's good news for me. Thank you captain
Freewell were one of the first to add it to their filters way back when. But rarely did anyone ever add a marker on the lens. Now it is becoming more common.
Thanks for the video! I was debating from ordering polarized filters vs without polarization. My way of thinking is I guess it all depends if I will using the phone or not to monitor the polarization on the screen. Otherwise, if I want to film without the phone, i won’t be able to tell from the tiny screen. Therefore the non polarized Nd filter might be a better option if I will be using the Osmo Pocket without the phone attached for inconsistent lighting environments. What are your thoughts on this?
ND filters will help. If you know nothing about polarization, and if you can't see the polarization because you are not using a phone, then you'd have to guess. Most times the guess is easy.... If the sun is at a 90 degree to what you are filming then you'd leave the notch straight up. Other times, not so easy.
Canon 80d has been out for over 2 years now. It is known as the "perfect" camera because there is everything right about it and very little wrong. At one time this was the vlogging camera to own, but today there are much more cameras to choose from. It has probably one of the top photo systems (that great Canon Color) and for video it has the Canon dual pixel focus which makes it the industry leader in focus abilities for faces. This is why it was once the #1 vlogging camera. But today, people are slowly moving to mirrorless cameras because they are smaller and lighter. The 80D has 1080p but no 4K, although the 1080p has a very high bit rate & perfect Canon color which is why in my 4K videos it looks really good. Also, the 80D has no stabilization so you'd have to use it with a gimbal if walking. There are many other cameras on the market today that are good but either lack in skin color or face focus. The new Sony A6400 is inexpensive and is supposed to have improved skin color and focus. The G85 is another old camera that has a focus problem. Sometimes it works, other times not so much. To save cash there is always the DJI Osmo Pocket. :-)
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanx bro :) So many on the market now, g9 another one i've been looking at. Maybe I'll just give up and get a cheap m50 and wait till they get their shit together with the osmo pocket. From some of the reviews I see, the pocket seems to drop focus a lot :(. Once again bro ya been a huge help. Cheers
ND filters are just designed for slowing down the shutter on a bright day. Polarized filters are for removing and reduce glare off objects. For video you would go with ND Filters and for Photos or still video (camera not moving), you'd go for Polarized Filters.
Great thanks for the reply! I've got the choice between ND/PL filters and regular ND (sorry I didn't make that very clear in my question), but will be shooting mostly moving video. so I guess I go for regular ND then?
hey there Captain... that filters can fix the low dynamic range of Osmo Pocket ? can u to do this test ? the main fault of Osmo is it range dynamic, it burn contrast areas. Thanks I have suscribed to u channel
Hello. You would not be able to fix dynamic range with a filter. The OSMO POCKET has a super tiny sensor and lens. It really is not designed for professional photography. For still photography is is just a bit better than the camera on your phone. It is more a video camera with nice smooth gimbal so that all that jerky movement in videos is reduced.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you Captain. I am deciding to buy OSMO or Gopro. I would like to make urban videos, like a walking tour, what would you recommend to me? your words are a guide to me , cheers
Good video but did you get those filters free from the manufacturer ? If so how honest and unbiased was that review? Should you declare the fact you didn''t pay for them out of your own money if that was the case ?
Stephen, since I have nothing to gain, I'd say it was pretty honest. Since I posted the video of what the output result was, I'd say that was pretty honest. Since my side career 5 years ago was a Sports Photographer, I'd say that was pretty honest.
Cheers
really nice lovely
If you had the option between fixed polarized and regular non pilarized nd filters, which ones would you advise?
ND filters are just designed for slowing down the shutter on a bright day. Polarized filters are for removing and reduce glare off objects. For video you would go with ND Filters and for Photos or still video (camera not moving), you'd go for Polarized Filters.
Great thanks for the reply! I've got the choice between ND/PL filters and regular ND (sorry I didn't make that very clear in my question), but will be shooting mostly moving video. so I guess I go for regular ND then?
Great review of the filters though :)
All I could think was ...put on a hat! :)
My brain was thinking the same.
hey there Captain... that filters can fix the low dynamic range of Osmo Pocket ? can u to do this test ? the main fault of Osmo is it range dynamic, it burn contrast areas.
I would like to make urban videos, like a walking tour, what would you recommend to me? your words are a guide to me , cheers
nice videos 😊
Imagens magníficas
👍👏
Good video but did you get those filters free from the manufacturer ? If so how honest and unbiased was that review? Should you declare the fact you didn''t pay for them out of your own money if that was the case ?
Stephen, since I have nothing to gain, I'd say it was pretty honest. Since I posted the video of what the output result was, I'd say that was pretty honest. Since my side career 5 years ago was a Sports Photographer, I'd say that was pretty honest. Since I'm not begging anyone to buy the product and this is just a hobby for me from my day job, I'd say that was pretty honest.
I like your videos.😋😋😆
hello
Come to think of it you'd pass as a science teacher easily cap'n
Does the teacher's lounge have heat? If so, I'm in. :-)

Great video. Thank you. Almost nailed it. I'm not a big fan of so much talking , but it was helpful
I love it. You would not believe how many people tell me to talk more. I'm trying to reach a happy medium.
