  • Join me as I take an inside look into the operation of a concrete ready mix plant. There are a lot of moving parts and a lot of things that need to go right to get your 6 bag mix delivered on time. Concrete is awesome, pass it on!

This is a general overview of how a concrete plant works. I just barely scratched the surface. There are so many more details that I could have included but I hope you get a good idea how ready mix gets done. Enjoy the video and have a great weekend!

my dad ran a badge plant back in the 80's. I went with him a few times and it wasn't any computers as in this video and no cameras. He had a giant mixing bin and a board with big buttons that would make the bin mix or command stone or cement to drop in it. he would spray water in as needed. this plant did a lot of precast concrete and made our Carrier Dome stadium with precast columns.

I just read the Wikipedia history & description of concrete--it's been around for millenia, & it's the most commonly used substance on earth 🌎, besides water itself. The worldwide concrete industry is valued @ over $600 billion per year. Your video was excellent. The one thing I always begged my parents for as a kid growing up was for an in-ground, concrete pool in our backyard. My parents eventually gave in, but they had a hard-packed sand in-gound pool, with a vinyl liner installed, instead of concrete, because concrete was too expensive. The pool was dug & built by a top-shelf contractor, & we never had a problem with it, although you could put a dent in the bottom if you dove hard into with your fists extended (or, your head). We did have a very nice concrete patio built which surrounded the pool, which had a diving board & a sliding board. It was 8 feet deep in the diving area, & 3 feet deep @ the shallow end, & the pool was 20 feet wide by forty feet long, kind of in the overall shape of an elongated peanut 🥜. If it would've been built of solid concrete, it would've cost about 5 times as much. People think concrete is cheap, but it's definitely not!

Great video Ryan. Did concrete work for 20 years. Loved every minute of it. But here in NYC has become almost impossible to pour concrete. Between split loads, traffic and no bathrooms to use I decided was best to start working indoors. I love going to see my local guys at OK Concrete. They’ve been around as long as my family so it’s nice knowing my great grandfather was paying for his loads in the same office i do.
