The buds aren't really copies IMO, they're just actually see through, yours are kinda transparent but not really see through it's like the phone 2's back has more depth because of the trans$parent back plate, but you can't actually see any internal component (even the coil is a plastic deco with the real one beneath). Showing the actual insides is also cool, I personnaly really like it

Personal preference: if the LEDs glow green for WhatsApp, blue for Facebook, orange for charging, I think it would add an extra layer of customization to the Gliph lightings. May be in Nothing Phone 3! 😊
Agreed, I love the clean white LEDs, but some colors used sparingly could add some more versatility. Also, maybe drawing some inspiration from the dot-matrix typeface Nothing uses, as well as Samsung's old LED view case, to implement a led array display on the back of the device that can show very simple information.

One thing I would say about transparent products is that just because you're showing a PCB here, or a capacitor/resistor there doesn't mean that it's inherently ugly. For instance, the teardown skins that dbrand sells that shows the inside of the phone as is on a skin are my #1 favorite skins for any product they offer it for, and I'm not even close to being alone on that. P.S. Idk where else to put this but please for the love of god consider getting rid of the screenshot shortcut on the recent apps for NothingOS, or AT LEAST give us the option to just turn it off. Realistically, it just needs to be replaced with the "Clear All" button. I can think of very little legitimate use cases where I would want to use that button to take a screenshot instead of just using the normal button combo. If there are any, they definitely aren't as frequent as wanting to close all your open apps, and having to scroll through all your open apps to exit them takes almost as much effort as just closing them out one by one. It doesn't even offer much mechanical benefit, if at all. As it is now, I have developed a daily routine of going into my pictures at the end of the every day to delete of the screenshots that I will inevitably take on accident trying to close my open apps. I absolutely love pretty much everything else about this OS except for that, and just wanted to share the feedback.
I'm thinking the same. I use Pixel 5 but it is EOL and planned to buy Pixel 9 next year, but really considering Nothing 3 if the camera evolve further and the software support extends to 5 year.

When you make a screenshot, it pops up in bottom left alongside a few options. If it was an accidental screenshot, you can just delete it right away. Maybe doesn't solve your issue 100% but makes it a whole lot better likely
If this is your solution, then if there's an accidental shutdown problem in a phone, your solution will be like - "there's a power button on the side of your phone , just press it and turn on whenever you're phone's shutdown" ?

To be honest, the tech that show you the insides reminds me of the US jail tech. Like I have a super rare iPod Classic (5gen I believe) and it has clear back cover and front and it was designed by some special company which made such stuff for prison inmates. They did all sort of stuff like clear flat screen TVs, diskman, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, all sorts of radios, headphones, console controllers, android tablets and many more. The old phone in your video is also something that was allowed to take to some of the lower security prisons. The clear cases were made so that the people couldn't sneak in any forbidden stuff hidden in those devices. But in the end I don't know the full story or the idea behind the company that made those clear devices since I'm from the EU and only saw such devices on eBay and FB Marketplace when I set the "seller location" to the US

My opinion of nothing has fallen so drastically over the past year, just because other technology is transparent doesn't mean it's a copycat. Transparent technology has been around for longer than I can remember. With the exception of the first phone from unihertz, very egotistical to assume that all these other products are copycats

I love the Nothing documentary series, but this video lowkey just feels a bit hateful towards other companies who are doing something similar. All of the "oddly similar" products are their competitors, yet all of the "inspiring products" weren't. This video, alongside their insane oversight of Nothing chats makes me feel like this company runs entirely on hype.
Both earbud cases beat nothing in my opinion because of size. I have the nothing earbuds and the apple airpods and I rarely use the nothing earbuds anymore, because they are terrible to carry around. You absolutely feel the difference and once you go small case, then you can't go back
Why would you use the nothing ear earbuds over the airpods? I mean the airpods are way better in every way. But they cost more than double... You cant compare those without speaking of price.
@ I first had the nothing earbuds, then upgraded it. My beef is with the nothing company claiming that their case is better than the Beats Studio Buds? Size is way more imporant and you can feel it in your pocket. The beats studio buds are about the same size as the apple earbuds, since apple bought beats. That's why I am complaining. If they don't make the size smaller then you can forget purchasing the nothing earbuds. They are terrible to carry around
Yo nothing I love all of the products and I recently bought a pair of nothing ear sticks and the case on them is jamed and I really don't know how to fix it I have already tried reaching out to customer support but I have gotten no response so this is kinda my final effort to try and get them fixed
the unihertz version is not bad at all . Nothing phone is a copy of Iphone also.. transparent back cover is not new , I used to have transparent back cover on my Iphone 4 before.

@@beastasif not the commenter, but I've been using it for about a week. And it's amazing. The software experience is the smoothest I've ever seen, but the main highlight of course is the design. Almost everyone who notices it asks about it. And it just feels satisfying to use and look at, if you're into design at all. Otherwise a few cons would be, the back camera is average, it's not bad, but it's not great either. But they do send a lot of updates, so it is improving. Another very minor con is the app drawer doesn't have folders as of now. These are the only two things I've found I didn't like about the phone. Otherwise, the performance is very good, battery life is very good. Overall, I'd recommend it.
To be honest, i absolutely adore that Nothing has created something "new" with the LED transparent design. However .. i wonder why it did not go the whole way .. but instead decided to pretty much copy the iPhone style. The iPhone is not the be all and end all. Apple makes decent designs (from my pov, certainly not the best .. because Apple is VERY conservative) By making an iPhone X with a sort of sharp edged frame (like the iPhone 12) ... the whole thing looks like an iPhone X with a fancy case. Transparency ... do your own thing: - go for under display front cameras (red magic, ZTE Axon etc.) - create your own design language .. and stick to it. Every phone maker has decided to primarily go with a "identifiable" camera module - because that is pretty much the only thing to differentiate them. Samsung has the 3 vertical cameras, Apple the triangular patch. Huawei has their "eye of muse" or so (same with their subbrands Honor), Xiaomi has decided to go with an odd stove top. .... and Nothing - well ... has copied Apple on the single most differentiating thing. - make use of the LEDs more. As a user, you do not see them very much ... they are, in the end - just a notification LED. But i can see it as an ambient backlight, a clock or a ring-light even.
Remember guys, if Nothing gets inspired by something it's just inspiration. But if someone gets inspired by Nothing, it's a copy and they are free to make a video about it.

Nothing phone owner. I actually own two Unihertz phones the Jelly and Titan and they are really novel designs and good phones. Look at their Titan and then say that all phones look the same, they are doing interesting things at least .
I had the Phone 1 for a year and now the Phone 2 and I love both of them! The last times I really had fun with technology and design was when I used to rock my colorful Nokia Lumia Phones (830 & 1520)
The JBLs look better than the nothings in my opinion, I don't want the company to decide what not to show me just put a transparent shell on and show me everything.

Oh yeah, million dollar idea, make the LEDs, RGB, so that you have individual control and notification of apps, such as Blue for Facebook, Cyan for Twitter, Purple for messenger, and make the LEDs be able to show a rainbow for an incoming call while making the design the same or cleaner

The Luna's very obviously a copy, but it's a better version of your rear lighting concept (assuming they eventually get its customization right). Imagine being able to choose a color for specific notifications, messages or contacts. That isn't just "distracting", as one of you said; it's better. Edit: The quality of the lights themselves is an issue, but I would assume the Luna's cheaper than your phone.
Honestly, at least it has a tripple camera setup 😅 jokes aside please nothing, it's hard to convince friends & family to join nothing when the camera setup is more aligned to 2020. It's like you have a porsche from a design perspective and a then have a plastic seat to sit on.... you have done such great work but to stay relevant (because the pricing won't be a convicing factor looking at that of the phone 2 we really need a camera setup that matches the flagships (you can cut somewhere else but the zoom should really be standard...) 🙏🏻
I have the biggest respect for Nothing for their approach, but I agree with you, they could basically keep the phone the same and just improve the camera (and video) I know it sounds easy 😂 "just improve camera" but what I mean is: tripple camera is a must if you want to be relevant and compete. and if you want to exceed the goal must be to get the videos aligned to iphone quality (which seems impossible) but most players, even if they have 4k, stay stuttery compared to the smoothness of Iphone for example

The main reason the other phone acts like a party is because thats what a decent amount wanted or expected to do with the Nothing phone to begin with, and didnt get. People also were expecting the phone to be RGB at the price point it was it, me included. So imo all they did was give people what they wanted there. You guys even indirectly admitted in the video you are not keen on RGB lights for the Glpyhs lighting. You possibly would have sold way more units if you did do that.
i dont think RGB lights would match the nothing aesthetic, especially their OS. I mean look at the main 3 colors that they use - black red white, nothing more than that.

They have a monochrome theme in OS, they try to blend everything in and reduce distractions, and what you are suggesting is completely opposite

I love the Nothing documentary series, but this video lowkey just feels a bit hateful towards other companies who are doing something similar. All of the "oddly similar" products are their competitors, yet all of the "inspiring products" weren't. This video, alongside their insane oversight of Nothing chats makes me feel like this company runs entirely on hype.
Both earbud cases beat nothing in my opinion because of size. I have the nothing earbuds and the apple airpods and I rarely use the nothing earbuds anymore, because they are terrible to carry around. You absolutely feel the difference and once you go small case, then you can't go back
Why would you use the nothing ear earbuds over the airpods?
I mean the airpods are way better in every way. But they cost more than double... You cant compare those without speaking of price.
@ I first had the nothing earbuds, then upgraded it. My beef is with the nothing company claiming that their case is better than the Beats Studio Buds? Size is way more imporant and you can feel it in your pocket. The beats studio buds are about the same size as the apple earbuds, since apple bought beats. That's why I am complaining. If they don't make the size smaller then you can forget purchasing the nothing earbuds. They are terrible to carry around
They even copied the apple camera
Apple didn't invent vertical camera position every phone in the market has vertical camera layout everything is not copy of apple
copying is not always a bad thing as this means that your item is worth investing in
Yo nothing I love all of the products and I recently bought a pair of nothing ear sticks and the case on them is jamed and I really don't know how to fix it I have already tried reaching out to customer support but I have gotten no response so this is kinda my final effort to try and get them fixed

the unihertz version is not bad at all . Nothing phone is a copy of Iphone also.. transparent back cover is not new , I used to have transparent back cover on my Iphone 4 before.
Unrelated but I just wanna say thank you guys so much. I got the phone (2) delivered yesterday and I'm so in love. The attention to detail in both the software is insane. Y'all are absolute champs! 👏🏽

@@beastasif not the commenter, but I've been using it for about a week. And it's amazing. The software experience is the smoothest I've ever seen, but the main highlight of course is the design. Almost everyone who notices it asks about it.
And it just feels satisfying to use and look at, if you're into design at all. Otherwise a few cons would be, the back camera is average, it's not bad, but it's not great either. But they do send a lot of updates, so it is improving.
Another very minor con is the app drawer doesn't have folders as of now. These are the only two things I've found I didn't like about the phone. Otherwise, the performance is very good, battery life is very good. Overall, I'd recommend it.

To be honest, i absolutely adore that Nothing has created something "new" with the LED transparent design. However .. i wonder why it did not go the whole way .. but instead decided to pretty much copy the iPhone style. The iPhone is not the be all and end all. Apple makes decent designs (from my pov, certainly not the best .. because Apple is VERY conservative)
By making an iPhone X with a sort of sharp edged frame (like the iPhone 12) ... the whole thing looks like an iPhone X with a fancy case.
Transparency ... do your own thing:
- go for under display front cameras (red magic, ZTE Axon etc.)
- create your own design language .. and stick to it. Every phone maker has decided to primarily go with a "identifiable" camera module - because that is pretty much the only thing to differentiate them. Samsung has the 3 vertical cameras, Apple the triangular patch. Huawei has their "eye of muse" or so (same with their subbrands Honor), Xiaomi has decided to go with an odd stove top. .... and Nothing - well ... has copied Apple on the single most differentiating thing.
- make use of the LEDs more. As a user, you do not see them very much ... they are, in the end - just a notification LED. But i can see it as an ambient backlight, a clock or a ring-light even.
Everyone does what they can to keep their head over water, even mimicking trends and aesthetics that are popular.
so does nothing just own transparent tech because transparent tech has been around for far longer than nothing has

Remember guys, if Nothing gets inspired by something it's just inspiration. But if someone gets inspired by Nothing, it's a copy and they are free to make a video about it.

Nothing phone owner. I actually own two Unihertz phones the Jelly and Titan and they are really novel designs and good phones. Look at their Titan and then say that all phones look the same, they are doing interesting things at least .
I had the Phone 1 for a year and now the Phone 2 and I love both of them! The last times I really had fun with technology and design was when I used to rock my colorful Nokia Lumia Phones (830 & 1520)

The JBLs look better than the nothings in my opinion, I don't want the company to decide what not to show me just put a transparent shell on and show me everything.

Oh yeah, million dollar idea, make the LEDs, RGB, so that you have individual control and notification of apps, such as Blue for Facebook, Cyan for Twitter, Purple for messenger, and make the LEDs be able to show a rainbow for an incoming call while making the design the same or cleaner

The little jbl buds case shape is actually kinda great. Feels good and flat on the back is nice. + it can balance on the charging port lol

All people are saying it because of the boxy shape but come on it is diffrent i mean carl pei on the iphone 14 pro review he said that all phones are just screen on the front nowadays but we did do something unique on the back so it is not same and if you talk about the boxy shape it is the most space efficent way to make a phone he also said that if you talk about buttons it is similar i can live with that i argued with the design team on why it has to be that similar but i lost the argument hopefully i can win the next argument

The Luna's very obviously a copy, but it's a better version of your rear lighting concept (assuming they eventually get its customization right). Imagine being able to choose a color for specific notifications, messages or contacts. That isn't just "distracting", as one of you said; it's better.
Edit: The quality of the lights themselves is an issue, but I would assume the Luna's cheaper than your phone.

Honestly, at least it has a tripple camera setup 😅 jokes aside please nothing, it's hard to convince friends & family to join nothing when the camera setup is more aligned to 2020. It's like you have a porsche from a design perspective and a then have a plastic seat to sit on.... you have done such great work but to stay relevant (because the pricing won't be a convicing factor looking at that of the phone 2 we really need a camera setup that matches the flagships (you can cut somewhere else but the zoom should really be standard...) 🙏🏻

I have the biggest respect for Nothing for their approach, but I agree with you, they could basically keep the phone the same and just improve the camera (and video) I know it sounds easy 😂 "just improve camera" but what I mean is: tripple camera is a must if you want to be relevant and compete. and if you want to exceed the goal must be to get the videos aligned to iphone quality (which seems impossible) but most players, even if they have 4k, stay stuttery compared to the smoothness of Iphone for example

The main reason the other phone acts like a party is because thats what a decent amount wanted or expected to do with the Nothing phone to begin with, and didnt get. People also were expecting the phone to be RGB at the price point it was it, me included. So imo all they did was give people what they wanted there. You guys even indirectly admitted in the video you are not keen on RGB lights for the Glpyhs lighting. You possibly would have sold way more units if you did do that.
i dont think RGB lights would match the nothing aesthetic, especially their OS. I mean look at the main 3 colors that they use - black red white, nothing more than that.

Nothing says colors are not coming to the glyphs we sort of see them as an alphabet or hieroglyphics color adds another layer of complexity

I bought Nothing Phone 1 love it, but man i wish really you could configure the sidebuttons like an Action button, and have the volume down and up OSD on the Right side then Left would be perfect imo atleast
