After watching one of your video. Reversing in my head just clicked now im very confident and get it on the bay mostly 1st time. So i recommend your channel to alot if new passes that simply aint being trained on the reversing side of driving. In my opinion where a huge portions of accidents happen
Its all about owning that king Pin Jason And you've cracked it like most proper Drivers ;) A guy called Ron Thatcher taut me my reversing skills, you might remember him from the Aneka RIce days on tv in the early 90.s He Drove the main Artic for the crew, he was the Head Driving instructor for Russell Davis of Felixstowe, before SOL (Securicor Omega Ltd) bought them out in the mid 90,s! All the best budd :)
Glad I’ve found your channel, you’ve earned a new subscriber. I’m new to artics again after being away for 2 years driving buses and this and other videos has helped me a lot. Thankyou
Nearly 2 years at class one...and as they say it does get easier...I found it helped when i dropped my empty tanker i deliberately parked it between two other tankers ..practice practice...when it was full there was 32 thousand litres of Jameson whiskey.
Im well jelly wish I had those smooth reversing skills lol just finished my first week as a class 1 driver, I struggled with reverses where there was only 1 or no lorries adjacent those bays with the banana bars :D hope I get better soon thanks to your videos.
I did a 10 hour weekend reverse course after passing. Granted it's extra cost but what a ,difference. We did mock reversing onto bays, tight blindsides and everything between. It really helps because after passing I was shocked how little I actually knew. The reverse exercise for passing the test is not suitable let even remotely similar to real world situations
You make it looks so easy and your very calm in your comments too which makes it easier for those of us that are novices to understand. Great videos. Thank you. 👍
The scariest thing is not knowing how close you are to that blind side trailer when you are just backing in to the space, I would get out and look as I’ve been caught out once or twice clipping the blind side trailer. especially in a tight space like that
If you've got plenty room in the yard, take the whole set up further away and wider... overshoot the gap, then jack it round hard, so your trailer is straight before it even enters the gap. No need to worry about hitting the trailer on your blindside then. Going in at an angle on such a tight gap is always a gamble, but it's all down to epxerience, and good judgement.
Just watched you on you tube with training some lad ye On a Reversing exercise wow u maid it look so easy. And u was so calm with that lad. Honesty. I could do with a tutor. Like you. Just passed my. Class one. In a wagon and drag. Drove a box trailer and Didn’t no how to Reverse in to middle of 2 trailers.
Same but different I'd imagine? I've pulled urban trailers. 24 foot plus a moffet. Easy to get carried away, quick to react. 14m experimental trailers. Wagon and drag drivers seem to think they're something special, it's nice to know they take time to adjust to the standard combination.
We like it tight. I always say the bigger the area, the bigger the error. You are a credit to new drivers wishing to learn. Glad I came across your channel. Always like seeing what others get up to. Advice I give to drivers when reversing is little on, little off. Nice and steady. The faster you go the faster you fuck up. Great channel.
I had the biggest load of abuse from the yard shunter the other day at FedEx Marston Gate after I thought let’s have a practice reverse, he came shooting over to me shouting what you doing drive?! I said just having a practice reverse he threatened me if he saw me again I would be banned and not to practice here. I tired saying have some compassion as you were like me once didn’t want to listen
This same thing happened to me, I just caught the trailer (yellow jack Richards) on my blind side as my back of trailer was going into the tight spot. I need to start getting out and looking at that point that the blind side back of trailer will clear the front of that jack Richards trailer
Why you don’t seems to care much about your off side, you don’t think you may touch the trailer on your left side? Cause your attention is much on the right side as you drive the trailer in the tight bay, very helpful videos indeed, thanks Jason.
Very impressive Jason. After a complicated but successful manouver, like reversing into a tight side-street off a busier road and getting it in one attempt, I normally feel really proud of myself, do you find the same? - that tipper driver off twitter
Fuck me!!! I hope i live long enough to be this good. I'm 50 now and start my class 1 career in 1 weeks time. Love your videos dude. Fair fkn play to ya.
I have given up full time driving class1. I do a bit now and then at the weekends to help out from time to time and it seems I've lost a bit of confidence. I went into the yard one night in the dark and the space I wanted to put the trailer was wide enough for the trailer, no worries there. The problem I had was the head room ie the distance from the units that were parked directly opposite of the space, it was less than the length of the trailer. I thought, I can get that in there but found myself touching the trailer on my blind side. Fortunately I got out to check before I did any damage, feww (maybe it was never gonna go in, error of judgement) Ever since that though, I keep getting the whole thing wrong any time I'm in the dark and even with lots of space around me. I keep asking myself, what is the best way if the room opposite the space is short, can it be done? The over hang, tail swing is hard to judge on the blind side. I used to drive a furniture removal van 18T rigid with 10ft of tail swing and not to sound big headed I was pretty good at getting in to some really tight spots. Never got nervous either. Wish I could spend an afternoon with you to get that confidence back. Thanks for everything. Jimmy, Highland of Scotland.
Being a rather rotund chap, I'm glad it's not me who has to pick up the trailer next to the one you just parked. Be a bit of a tight squeeze to get in to wind the legs up. ;)
I had a situation just like this on my 6th job, I reversed into the curtain on the blind side and tore it. Today I have my 7th job and I will be shitting it the whole time :/
not well parked....i pity the poor driver that as to pick up trailer jr123 has he has parked so close to it that he wont be able to get to the winding handle for the legs....
lol........ Dude, you're not going to get it right away. practice is what you need to do. Take your time, stop get out and have a look around, ask someone to watch you in. Don't just rely on your mirrors, stick your head out the window and look at the trailer wheels. Most important: Take Your Time!!!!
Any new drivers just remember the first part of the video, the initial positioning! With that, the rest was straightforward-ish 😁

Taken your advice on a video a couple of months ago and it's working a treat, so simple, drive the trailer in. Thanks.

Very impressive backing the trailer truck..I want to learn that someday because I'm aspiring trailer truck driver

thats true...parking in a bay with nothing to focus on except faded lines.. .gets a bit tricky believe it or not..

He sounds like a proper charmer. It also may be possible that he isn't a drive. You don't need a licence to be a shunter.

No messing with that 👍
3 tumbs down from fellas who think its a piece of piss. Know many a lad whod take a few shunts at that. Fair game.
Good job mate. That was tight. Usually when I see video and someone says tight I just have a laugh...

it happens quite a bit you have to hookup lift suspension on cab and drive forward with trailer till the legs come past front of standing trailer

Oh well can't please everyone!
not well parked....i pity the poor driver that as to pick up trailer jr123 has he has parked so close to it that he wont be able to get to the winding handle for the legs....
