Majority of people from "mexico" are indigenous. In order for us to evolve and stand united, we need to be more inclusive in helping one another find our "clans" or "tribes". We should never exclude another indigenous brother or sister because they dont know what specific tribe they decend from. That is what colonization has done to our people. Unfortunately "mexico" was colonized in such a way where the spanish tryed to erase the memory of there Native ancestry. My goal is to unite all people from Turtle Island. Lets help one another discover who we truly are. Im Lakota and "Mexican" however my dad was a indigenous "mexican. However he gave me up for adoption. So i never met him. I did do a blood quantum test and im 65% Native(indigenous americas) and i have been working to discover what indigenous tribe i descend from the South. Brothers and sisters please dont be discourged by this conversation.
That is 100% understood brother. Where I'm from here in Minnesota we are uniting and we have a strong Native community. Our pow wows we have the Mexica dancers and they come share there words from down south. There are millions of Natives. There is a lot more happening then you think or know. It's starts with being open minded as a individual.
It’s ironic, though, but if you think about it, the closest thing to true indigenous food is in fact Mexican food because most of those core ingredients that were eaten back then by all the tribes of turtle island. corn, squash, tomatoes, vanilla, cacao, turkey, avocados, noples, chili peppers etc. are all the very essence of Mexican cuisine, obviously blended with other foreign ingredients of course. Bison unfortunately was lost from the Mexican diet because Mexico’s population of bison were wiped out for a long period of time, but theirs efforts currently being made to restore Mexico’s population of bison.
Another interesting dynamic here is it the light skin gentleman was talking about how he didn’t reconnect with his food until he went to Mexico and it sparked the idea . Whereas you get most Mexicans, who are in denial of their indigenous self or are oppressed for trying to claim that identity.. yet just from the food Dimension of Indigeneity, would just say culturally, we are already mad indigenous.
We are Indigenous peoples of the America's. All of us. In my nation, one drop shines as bright. I'm hoping they are not speaking of blood quantum, that is such the colonizers language. Going to blood quantum is the surest way to end up with no Indigenous Nations left. BIA math. We all have been colonized and will have to claw our way back. And I'm sick of people shouting out the Tsalagi (Cherokee) princess bs, my people are very traditional regardless of their blood quantum. Speaking Spanish is as bad as speaking English, it's all the colonizers languages. In the communities we share, when we have nothing we still share😢

But if you are of indigenous ancestry, then these are good conversations.
Because it’s real, whether you want to admit it or not, Chicanos perpetuate anti-colonialism and cultural appropriation, Chicanismo is another form of Mexican nationalism with an indigenista twist, which is all colonial bs anyways

They are not dismissive of fry bread. He is right, fry bread is a by product of the reservations(prison camps). They killed off our food source and gave us flower and lard.
