      .. 1. THIS IS NO piano but a keyboard. A piano has real weighted keys, strings, hammers etc. 2. you CAN'T learn how to play piano from a course online. YOu need to have physical contact from a teacher, who learns you how to move your hands, to move and held your hands, fingers, wristst, arms , knukkels, elbows, back, bottom, neck, head, how to move it. A teacher that continuously monitors your posture and movements. That's not what you can do. What you do is really dangerous and can lead to injuries to hands, wrists, arms, backs, necks, etc. You don't teach students solfege either: necessity. you can't control them, you can't hear them play, you can't see how they play. You are, in short, a bogus teacher, a dangerous teacher, a charlatan, an uneducated jerk with no real knowledge. you don't know what you are talking about. The first months are the most important. There, students learn everything for the rest of their piano career. You learn piano on an acoustic instrument. Not on a digital instrument. Reading notes, knowing rests, knowing tempi, being able to understand announcing in text, knowing how to understand Italian terminology, pedal use, agogy, etc. they can't learn from you. Stop this. You do more harm than good with it. You create fake pianists with poor technique who will never be able to learn to play the piano at a high level in their lives.

    For most people, private, in person lessons in anything, are only really useful from an accountability standpoint. You have to be somewhere at a certain time, to prove you have done the work. Outside of that, you don’t REALLY learn anything in the lesson, because there just isn’t the time. Its effectively just a pit stop, to pick up the next learning mission. The real learning happens outside of the lesson. Since the age of fast internet speeds, if you’re disciplined and accountable, you can teach yourself pretty much anything, using videos. Its also much cheaper!

      It's really helpful if you have some goal to work towards, even if It's just playing a piece for a teacjer after you've learned it to some degree of accomplishment.

    Used to play when I was little
    My mother got me lessons and I loved it
    Until I found out part of the agreement with my instructor and my parents was that all of her students would be required to participate/play a live set at a very busy mall / shopping center
    All I wanted to do was play this really awesome measure from the Star Wars movies
    Was forced to play Beethoven
    I got so frustrated and anxious that I gave up playing entirely for the last 25 years
    I most definitely have been wanting to get back into it and know I need to relearn everything
    Im here for the journey
    Thanks for posting this "course"
    Hopefully Ill made some good progress
    Self accountability is gonna be the biggest thing for me

Just letting you know that the person you were 25 years ago doesn't exist anymore today and you don't have to behave and think in the same way as you did then. Please only play piano when you enjoy it :) I hope you have lots of fun and start feeling better about piano soon!

    I loved these lessons! You almost tricked me with the double sharps. I was really trying to figure it out. The only reason why I figured it out is before I got to that part of the lesson I was looking up the note names a few weeks ago to study and I had remembered seeing a double sharp. Tricky tricky!

    I very much enjoyed these lessons. Though I already know the theory, these lessons are a reinforcement to my basic knowledge. However, I play the guitar, and I'm learning to play the piano, so the lessons help me apply my theory to the instrument. I particularly like the lesson on learning the song Sea Mist, and I'm practising it a lot, and I'm even undertaking to write it for future reference.

      I wrote this to this 'teacher'....

    Great lessons, all stuff I mostly learnt back in high school so great revision, but… I thought you could’ve explained the 1 3 H homework task a little clearer, as even myself having covered basic scale theory, I still had to stop & think about the fact that there is no E# or B#, that they’re basically F & C. And the whole double # thing. I can’t imagine how confusing this would be to an absolute beginner. Aside from that, really great tutorial. You’re an excellent teacher.

    • @Marks_Piano
      @Marks_Piano  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Kristabelle, keep in mind though there are E#'s and B#'s they do exist, it's a music theory thing versus a piano thing. The note exists in music theory, it's just that we have to locate it on the piano, and therefore our mind likes to think of it as F & C.

    Thanks for the video but I think for the H: it's half step not half note because half note means Minin and W: is whole step instead of being whole note because whole note means semibreve!

I figured I'd swallow my pride and go back to square 1 with this video. So far I'm enjoying the video but i can't seem to find part 2?

    What is a F double sharp ?

    • @Marks_Piano
      @Marks_Piano  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      a 'Sharp' simply means that you go half a note up. A Double Sharp is 2x half a note up. This means, that an Fx or F double Sharp is therefore the note we would normally call "G". However, in some Piano Scales, there is no "G" according to music theory, we have to call that particular note a F double Sharp. You can learn all about this in this course :)
