I have Pulmonary Atresia. I am now 38 years old. Living a basically normal life. I had all my procedures done at Boston Children's hospital. 7 open heart surgeries before I was 7 years old.

That was a very informative video. My daughter has PA with VSD and ASD. She was operated at 3 months with BT shunt. Corrective surgery is due in few months.

What happens if the arterial and ventirucular walls are both intact?

Then it is vital that they keep the patient ductus arteriosis open. (Newborn) if the child is older a pulmonary artery gragh (artificial vessel) would have to be surgically attached from the right ventricle to the remaining pulmonary artery. Having intact septums would only be detrimental as a newborn.

Hello is there anyway to contact you regarding a 3 year old child who has recently had MAPCAs balloned as she has pulmonary artresia. instead of coming from the pulmonary trunk, supply develops from the aorta and other systemic arteries

I’m not familiar with the acronym MAPCAs. Can you spell it out for me?

    • @rohimaxxx

Major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (or MAPCAs) are arteries that develop to supply blood to the lungs when native pulmonary circulation is underdeveloped.
