i mixed my pellets with seeds... and then slowly reduced the amount of seeds every time and after a while they were totally fine with just the pellets for my birds it was harder to get used to chop :D but the feeling was so great when they ate my chop for the first time xD i like those small challenges with my birds :D
My bird likes chop but hates pellets. She will starve herself if she doesn’t get seeds with her food. If I mix seeds with her pellets then she will pick out the seeds she likes and leave the rest of the food behind
that's so lucky! my picky budgies just throw the pellets out of the bowl, I come back into the room after an hour and the ground is covered in pellets everywhere.
Victoria the green cheek conure for some reason whenever I watch a bird vid and scroll through the comments most of the time I see one of your comments...... lol
All of these worked! Thank you so much for the advice... I got two parrots who were not use to veggies or fruits on a full seed diet and each of these had them trying the new food, real veggies, fruits, and healthy treats that.
Hey your vids really help me with my budgie she isn’t hand tamed and I’m having a lot of trouble taming her.Her name is Luna and I give her a seed and pellet mix but she doesn’t eat the pellets.
This is pritty much the same as my parrotlets because whrn we got them thet had had no human contact before hand and thwy wouldn't even go near me but i slowly got them to eat some seads then fruit and not they will come on my hand for food but not jist because they want to they still don't eat pellets but there getting there slowly
I'm having the same trouble, my budgies also weren't hand fed and I think I might have tried to interact too much with them in the beginning. Now they are very shy and anxious, but I can still see the progress I've made. They already eat so many veggies and also eat out of my hand, so let's keep trying!
Instead of feeding your bird a seed and pellet mix, where it will pick out only the seeds, Try giving your bird crushed up pellets to start with. Crush them it to very small pieces or use the tips in the video. Just remember every birds is different and some work better than others, good luck!
This video was very helpful, thank you. I got my bird 3 days ago and she was on a seed diet so I have just ordered Harrison’s pellets. My green cheek is pretty much tame already, she eats from the palm of my hand 😅 and knows step up and recall
Hi I’ve just got some of the Harrison’s pellets for my parakeet and he’s not eating them at all . I just wondered how long it was before you got yours to eat it. Thanks X
@@lauraanncoulton4232 Chichi (my birb) was enjoying her pellets on the first day I introduced her to them. She’s still eating them to this day!! I did get her the high potency and added a bit of water with them to help her understand that it’s food. If wetting the pelleted doesn’t work for you, try squeezing grape or apple juice on the pellets and mix them with seed and then each day take away more and more of the seed. 💖

Thank you for making this video my parakeet has been on a seed diet with other fruits and vegetables but then I tried this for my parakeet and he loves it 😊🕊
these are some of the most helpful ideas anyone has ever given for me as long as i've had my budgies, i can't get them to eat pellets, but i had never thought of softening them in water, i have tried adding them to chop before, but i'm still struggling to get my birds to eat chop, so... these are very helpful, thank you!
I figured out the mushy pellet trick and it's so good to have it reconfirmed by you but I've never heard of the UV light one. Wow. Thank you so much for this which has been on y mind for the past few weeks.
Great video. Please keep them coming. I have a question: I’ve been feeding my cockatiel Nutriberries and Avi-cakes almost exclusively. They have seeds in them. Do you think this is not healthy? He does get a little chop for breakfast but hardly makes a dent in it. Thanks, hun.
@Flock-Talk - I hope you're going to do more videos soon! I love your teachings and all of the great tips you've shared over the years. Do you do consultations as well? Thanks so much! I've watched pretty much every video you've done. Excellent work! So appreciated!
Leaving this in case it helps, my birds just started eating pellets (by “just started” I mean minutes ago) thanks to a toy that dispenses food when they spin it. I bought it last week and they would use it more than their food plate. I noticed that they started eating all the seeds of the seed mix when I put them there (they only picked the millet). I just filled the toy with pellets and they started eating it (I didn’t remove the seed mix from the other food plate, and they are still being picky with the things I put there).
Great video! I love this channel! ❤ I have been getting my peach faced love bird to go from a seed diet to pellets... right now we are on 50/50 seed to pellets ratio. Be patient guys it can take some time! There are also a big variety of pellets to try, if one type doesn't seem to interest your birdy friend, there are other options. I use 2 pellet types; coloured pellets and uncoloured pellets for my bird and have definitely noticed more pellets being consumed since.
FB bird groups seem to be very against pellets. We've had our budgies for a couple of months and so far they seem to not like pellets but I think the issue was the pellets were too big in size in the first food mix I bought. So far they love carrots and like cucumber and are ok with apples but they are terrified of bananas and today my attempt at treating them to worms resulted in hyperventilating -_- I will try your suggestions to get them to eat the pellets.
How often I need to change pallet food bowl? Do I need to change daily like seeds? My budgie does not finish pallet food bowl, maybe 1/4 at the most in a day. Please advise how often/frequently I need to replace pallet food bowl please. Thanks
Hi, i like your channel very much. But my problem is that in my country don't sell pellets, only seed mixs(I've been surching), Will it be enough for the budgie to it this and chop.

He doesn’t preen or anything in my hand and isn’t comfortable staying there. If I target him on it’s the same thing. If I give him a longer lasting treat he takes it and leaves. Hey guys, please help me out here! Im thinking of getting a cockatiel in a few months, but I can't find any pellets around the pets store in my country. What should I do? Is there anyy replacements? Can my bird have a veggie seed diet? (I do know they cant have an all seed diet) Any replies would help me out so much so please comment
This is the case in most places! Most people (myself included!) have to order pellets online. I would double check your vet clinics though- most vets that treat birds will carry Harrison’s pellets at the very least! It is possible to have a bird on seeds/ sprouts/ veg but requires a lot more consideration on their nutrition and is best done under the supervision of a qualified veterinary nutritionist
Hey I have an idea for your channel maybe... if you happen to have too many types of food. I wanted to try this myself so. I wanted to see what food brands and kinds that my bird likes and will eat in a day. I wanted to have a spoon each of chop, tops, pellets, Harrison’s, golden feast legume blend... just see what happens threw out the day., maybe even try some moist pellets on some. Idk if that’s a good idea, I just am trying to figure out what my 1 parakeet eats in a day. And what balance is he eating it. I might weight the food.
Seeds are unhealthy and they have husks which can be messier. Pellets are healthier and do not have husks. Pellets are generally better for the bird because they are a mix of heathy things for your bird. I hope this helps.
Birds will go as far to starve themselves if they don’t want the food you’re providing. Maybe try mixing them together, or trying the watered down pellets and UV light like the video suggests.
I don't know what pellets to feed my budgies. I can't find any organic brands in Australia that make pellets for budgies :( I tried a brand for small-medium parrots that was formulated by vets but they were very hard and a bit too big and they didn't even try them, even when I offered them in many different ways
Each method that you show dont work with Quicky my cockatiel. Since he is born, he will let him die before eating pellets. I had to give it like his mother and as well he rejected it...
I've been trying for months to switch my cockatiel but he'd rather starve to death than eat pellets I'll tell you. And he only likes carrot and green beans so it's frustrating
I have an albino and one blue budgie, the blue one doesn't bite me and he is untamed but I taught the albino one to step up my finger and he did but now she doesn't do it that much and now-a-days she bites me and the blue one a lot and sometimes she tries to feed the blue one but he doesn't like it and sometimes she(albino) doesn't let him sit on a perch she just fights him a lot now-a-days also I made a swing for them but they don't like swinging I never forced them to swing but they don't like to swing also tell me what my whole comment means about my budgies and I want them to breed but they don't I don't think the blue one (male) doesn't want to pls answer my question and I don't care if the video is too long me and my bird's like to see u and your birds🥰
My parrotlet does too sometimes. Not all the time but she does whenever I make noise. Do you have a noise that your parrotlet hears that makes them chirp and wake up?

Which of Tops pellets are being used ?
Do budgies break open their pellets like they do the shell around the seeds ?
They will either break them apart or grind excess off the edges to make each pellet a swallowable size

Birds will go as far to starve themselves if they don’t want the food you’re providing. Maybe try mixing them together, or trying the watered down pellets and UV light like the video suggests.
I would put pellets and seeds in the same bowl and every day reduce the amount of seeds
I don't know what pellets to feed my budgies. I can't find any organic brands in Australia that make pellets for budgies :(
I tried a brand for small-medium parrots that was formulated by vets but they were very hard and a bit too big and they didn't even try them, even when I offered them in many different ways
Also, how do you keep them from pooping on the monitor in the background?
Recommended pellets for budgies
Each method that you show dont work with Quicky my cockatiel. Since he is born, he will let him die before eating pellets. I had to give it like his mother and as well he rejected it...
I will try these methods with my budgies! Luckily my baby conure tries to eat everything. Even things I dont give him
What for bird you have
A conure and a parrotlet

Can a ring necked parrot and a parrotlet live togerther
I've been trying for months to switch my cockatiel but he'd rather starve to death than eat pellets I'll tell you. And he only likes carrot and green beans so it's frustrating
Hi
Hey.. my parrotlet chick makes chirping sounds while sleeping is that normal?? Please respond
My parrotlet does too sometimes. Not all the time but she does whenever I make noise. Do you have a noise that your parrotlet hears that makes them chirp and wake up?
ive been trying to get my cockatiels toeat fruits bt whenever they touch something wet they just nope right out ill try this UV light method
Best of luck! It can take a long time for birds to accept a new food but it’s so important for them!
I'm going to try this my bird throws a hissy fit and chucks his pellets on the floor thanks for this video
