I have travelled the world with you and your family. Thank you! I am 80 years old and unable to travel much any more but it is lovely to share your adventures!
@@robinwbarrett63 here and the same! Zatara and the Kiwis are the only boating families I watch/follow on TH-cam. I really love the adventures and destinations both boats have shared with all of us. Joanne, How wonderful that you have followed this sailing couple and their family for so long. My husband has traveled the world over, and I love asking him about places that Zatara has visited. It's wonderful! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
It is so funny to watch and hear her complain and moan and groan over the large waves and uncalmed seascape. LOL After all those years it never gets old it seems.
Hey Kieth, you do not have to eat cardboard to eat healthy! I was 76 and nearing 300 pounds and my health was going downhill fast. I was a pasta, pizza and pastry kind of guy and went totally zero carb zero sugar. After becoming fat adaptive (ketosis) my health is perfect and I lost over 70 pounds since April. My wife loves it because I stopped snoring within a couple of weeks! Living on the ocean gives you great access to seafood! Since you do a lot of research, checkout the ketovore or carnivore way of eating! Eat as much as you like and lose all that fat!
I’m carnivore. I did it to try to control migraine triggers. It’s hard but it has paid off in spades. I still get migraines but they are milder and easy to abort. The side effect has been the unexpected health over all. The lbs are falling off. I’m 62 and feel great.
300lbs to 180lb Carnivore is the right path. You can moderate if you want once you get healthy but 6 months of Beef, Butter, Bacon, and Eggs will change your life.
I enjoyed this latest chapter with the Zatara clan a lot. The adult guests were an interesting add on to things as you usually mostly have guests for your kids. It’s really enjoyable to see the guests go through the motions having no idea how much they end up cherishing the experience.
Keith, you’re an awesome man and I love how you lead your family. They love and respect you because you’re intelligent and kind, you obviously are an educated navigator because of your aviation background. I’m paying close attention because I’m hoping to convince my partner to sell the house and buy a boat, I’ve been around aviation my entire life and even have a TH-cam channel. Hopefully see you soon!
Dear Renee & Keith. Have watched you guys for over 3 years, and believe you me, Renee you do not have to explain the rough voyage you were having this passage. You could tell it in yours and Keith's face. You guys can come thru alot but being bounced around the way you were.. well God Bless you and the kids
I started watching you during Covid.I watched all your videos from day one and enjoyed traveling and watching your kids grow. Thanks for taking us to places I would never get to see otherwise
Greetings. I have been following you for five years. First time commenting. I grew up in Puerto Rico. I am 71 and was born in Germany. I came to the island in 1959. I went to school there including university. Began my career there until I left in late 1979. Then I worked for a US company doing business on the island until 1995. I am always on top of the news in PR and what goes on there. Let me clarify some things about the tax situation. 1) Any US citizen can move to PR and only have to pay taxes there. No special program. If you no longer live in the US, you file your last US return for the time you were still in the US and then you file your first PR tax return for the months that you lived there in your first months. Then you file a normal PR tax return every year. Yes you will not pay US Federal taxes, but local tax rates are high. Remember, there are no State taxes in Texas. 2) Then there are the special programs under Act 60. There you have specific requirements to fulfill (I leave it to the experts to explain). This program avails you to specific situations depending if you have a business or just a personal investor. 3) PR was a part of Spain until the Spanish American war in 1898. Then it was handed over to the US by Spain, along with Cuba and the Phillipines. In 1917 the citizens of PR were given US citizenship. PR was governed by appointed US governors until 1952, when the current system of government was instituted. PR elects its own governor and House of Representatives and Senate. Citizens in PR have a representative in the US congress, but cannot vote in US elections. Cuba was given its independence after the Spanish American war and the Phillipines gained their independence after WW2. PR still remains as is. 4) PR has four things in common with the US. The US Dollar, defense, US Customs and Citizenship. I hope this helps to give you a better understanding of the island. Good luck with what you want to do. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to Zatara crew and all you fans. Bummer about the ruff seas. Renee does a great job of bringing out the best of even the less fun parts of sailing
Renée, as long as you're a US citizen, you're subject to US income taxes, regardless of where you live. The US is one of the few countries in the world that establishes income tax liability based on citizenship, and not residency. This is why the US has tax treaties with many countries, so that people who have US citizenship, but live (are permanent residents) in another country, do not have to pay taxes in the country they live in, i.e., they are not taxed twice. The case of Puerto Rico is however, very interesting. It is a legal territory of the US, but it is not a state. So there are some exceptions for income taxes. But Puerto Rico aside, for treaty countries there are threshold limits for US taxes, meaning that below a certain income tax level, you wouldn't pay US taxes, if you pay income tax in another country. This is why some US citizens choose to retire in another country (Italy, Portugal, Spain) and when they get citizenship there, they renounce their US citizenship. They figure the lower health care and taxes (investment income is generally exempt), and climate make it worthwhile.
Stow yer stuff fer cryin out loud! You're out to sea and it just got rough, Stuff falling down because it was not stowed. Great video showing the reality of sea life. It's not always sunshine and flat water! Thanks for showing it....
As a big fan of the metric system I still see more reason to use nautical miles in boating and aviation as 1 minute of the earth degrees is exactly 1 nautical mile. So calculating distances is easier on maps especially when one knot is 1 nautical mile per hour. It makes more sense than using kilometers in my opinion. 😊
Happy Thanksgiving from a fellow Texan living on the Olympic Peninsula......thanks, for all these places y'all take me.....very grateful!!! SAFE TRAVELS!!!
I've watched you guys from day 1, but I can tell that you are almost ready to move on from the boat now. I hope this doesn't mean we won't be able to follow your's and Keith's adventures. Keith is right about the nautical mile which is 1.15 miles and determined by one minute of latitude. 60 minutes of latitude is 1 degree and therefore 60 nautical miles.

A nautical mile is one minute (1/60th of a degree) of latitude. This makes it easy for the navigator to keep track of where the ship is. The distance around the world along the equator or a great circle is 60*360 = 21,600 nautical miles.

Do you ever take antibiotics when you are sick? What's wrong with antibiotics? 62 ingredients and 42 ingredients, are you implying there is something wrong with having many ingredients? Throughout you lifetime you've probably put thousands if not millions of ingredients if not more in your body. And anti-foaming agent, what's wrong with that?
@@cindyhimes3385 Cindy, many Veterinary drugs may not the same as Human drugs. As an example, in many countries including Canada if the farmer/rancher gives antibiotics to an cow, that animals dairy or meat cannot be used for approx. 2 weeks. That gives the medicine to be used and flushed from the cow's system. After the 2 weeks her milk can be shipped to a dairy and a beef cow can be slaughtered for human use. As Keith and Renee get closer to considering retiring Zatara, I offer a suggestion which keeps the channel alive and finally reveals whether or not this lifestyle is good for children. Let Keith and Renee take a break up north and let each of the kids take turns as captain of the Zatara; a six-month rotation each. They pick the crew and destinations. I would imagine the stress of running a multimillion dollar firm made Keith a difficult father and husband. Zatara saved him and his family, but, did his family benefit as much as him? With a captain Kate, would Anna bring her significant other and visit the Zatara? Would a captain Finn offer more adventure than the existential Captain Jack? What course would Captain Kate plot? What fish would Anna spear? What is the most significant emotional event since she left the Zatara? As I am considering plotting a 180 degree change of course for my own family, I want to see how Keith and Renee's course improved or negatively impacted their own kids. Dying to know as I would not have been brave enough to do what Keith did.

The camera never does the wave height right. Agree with you on that one. It's 1 good thing about my center cockpit. I'm higher up than a aft cockpit but it's more motion sickness from the rolling. I turn green lol. Hope it gets better for u both
I have an idea for you Keith, I heard you say something about treasure hunting, that’s a dream I’ve had for years!! Would love to see yall check that out… happy thanksgiving to all of you an I hope one day to see you on the water!!! And Let it drift away!!!!
8:20 To answer Renee's question, Nautical miles is used as it is measured by the distance travelled through the water and as it also accounts on the curvature of the earth. We don't use it on land coz the land is above the sea level.

Welcome, welcome to my beautiful Puerto Rico, Culebra. The best beach is in Culebrita. Hope you can stay for the official Christmas closing in the middle of January, our World Famous Festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, near the Morro castle. We call it San Sebastian Street Party. Proud to say that we have the longest Christmas in the world.
Love your videos, From Humacao Puerto Rico.
The camera never does the wave height right. Agree with you on that one. It's 1 good thing about my center cockpit. I'm higher up than a aft cockpit but it's more motion sickness from the rolling.
I turn green lol.
Hope it gets better for u both
Finn, so young and already saving on Taxes... New Rule: Every time you show the Yanmars there should be an accompanying sound of Angels singing!!

8:20 To answer Renee's question, Nautical miles is used as it is measured by the distance travelled through the water and as it also accounts on the curvature of the earth. We don't use it on land coz the land is above the sea level.
We have 90 deg North and South Latitude and in every degree, theres 60 minutes. And in every minute is equal to 1 nm.
A further history lesson, knots is used as speed because it used to be measured in literal knots tied at regular intervals.
NM are also used in the air and in space.
Guessing this boat will be for sale, and mom will retire to the mountains with the young ones. A half hour of complaining about….well, we all have rough days on our boats, and good days….thanks, Andrew
