    I spent 20 years in the Army, went to college on the GI Bill, then taught public school for 26 years. Good for them. I understand what they are feeling.

    Probably gonna be better teachers than a lot of teachers who have been doing it for years. Good for them. A teacher who actually wants to teach will do well.

    Sorry, but wanting to teach is not enough-- the yound lady wants to teach ESL, but her own English is far from perfect, so she would be teaching a bastardized English like she speaks herself. I hope she takes some classes that can help her teach better diction and grammar. I am in favor of her teaching ESL provided she learns to speak standard English herself.

    • @santorojo2
      @santorojo2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She won’t be teaching ESL: she’ll be teaching bilingual classes, meaning classes given in two languages. These would be academic subjects, like math and history. This allows non-English speaking students the opportunity to keep up with other students academically, while they learn ESL.

    • @microbios8586
      @microbios8586 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@santorojo2 it's actually subjects taught almost entirely in Spanish. I guarantee she won't be using much English at all during the day.

      In Texas, we have bilingual education. In first grade, most of the curriculum is in Spanish, so a native Spanish speaker is actually a good thing. I've worked with many bilingual teachers with poor English skills.
