This show had a huge influence on the rest of my life, im 54 now and still go out wild camping bushcraft, i have a great outdoor life full of experience thanks to Grizzly AND Ben!!!! There was something magical about it..! 💙🇬🇧
In my opinion this was one of the greatest shows in television history. I loved watching it as a child and enjoy sharing it with my son today. Dan haggerty was one of the greats and never will be forgotten. Rest in peace old friend.
I am 50yrs old and I have owned the cd set for over a decade because of the impact it had on me as a kid. Thanks Dan for some of the great moments of being a kid in the late 70s.
I adored this serie more than 40 years ago as a kid, always dreamed of living the same life in nature...but life got in the way. Now all those years later my kids still know who Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) is and what he meant for me! After being retired some years ago I bought a house in the Belgian Ardennes, moved there and now enjoy life in the silence and beauty of nature. Thank you Dan!!!
I loved this show as a child and always wished I could live with Grizzly Adams and Ben up in the mountains surrounded by the animals and the beautiful wilderness. Hearing the song makes me tear up. Lovely, happy memories.
When i was a child in the 70's/80's i used adore "life and times of Grizzly Adams", i've never missed a show(even the film). I am 45 now and Grizzly Adams still have a place in my heart and taught me to respect nature. Now i have passed the mantle to me 4 kids who love this. Passing on the magic to the next generation.
Yes!!! This guy was my hero growing up. He gave me a love and connection with animals while growing up, in the city. I can't forget him. He is a big part of my life and innocence, till this day! So.... how do we get this petition started.
I loved the show, it's been 46 years now and i can still sing the words to the opening song. What a wonferful Tv series! Such good family morales. RIP Dan Haggerty
"God's backyard is something that should be taken care of". Priceless! I haven't seen an episode or heard the heart wrenching theme song in 44 years. Three nights ago the song Maybe appeared in my you tube feed. I haven't stopped crying since. Thank you GOD for leading me back to my childhood joy. I will be looking for Dan and Ben in Heaven
I grew up with Grizzly Adams TV Show here in Germany. He was my childhood hero. This series was the best I ever saw . And Dan was the best Choice for this role. 🥰
Dan Haggerty will be so miss he pass away in 2016 and will always be a great grizzly man that he was I mat him once and you could not ask for any better friend then him , I miss you my friend,,, rest in peace......😢
The show resonated so well with people, because the character of Grizzly Adams was a manifestation of who Dan really was. I've read & heard so many stories from other actors, to crew members to fans. He was a kind, gentle, and jovial soul.
Wish they still did shows like this. Three men inspired me as a nature lover and photographer, one was Ansel Adams, the second John Muir, and the third Grizzly Adams. Thank you and RIP Dan.
God bless you, Dan Haggerty. Thank you for the wonderful movies /stories. They shaped my childhood. They still let me believe in the positive of every living being 🙏🕯️🌟❤️
Being British I guess we didn't see or get certain shows as they were in the US. Early 90s I became a fan of Grizzly (and the likes of Littlest Hobo etc). Think it was on our Channel 4. I remember it was Sundays. I also remember one day choosing to run from the dinner table as we wrapped up and insisting on watching Grizzly Adams. I must've been six. When you're little you don't see things as you do as an adult and so Grizzly Adams was something else. Years and years later when I read Dan Haggerty had passed, and I was late twenties/early thirties, I found myself heartbroken. A childhood hero gone. Folk can mock but when you're very little, imagination is a great thing and Grizzly Adams made me dream. Made me forget my Home Counties, dreary upbringing with no money and imagine the wide open landscapes of the USA. RIP Dan.
I loved this show. I am glad they had as much joy making it as I had watching it. This is what I love about youtube, finding interviews like this from people from your childhood and seeing the shows themselves after all those years.
Every time I hear the theme song, it takes me back to when I was a just a boy. My dad, and I, would sit and watch Grizzly Adams from beginning to end every week. Dan passed in January, 2016. I lost my dad in January, 2017. Both losses left an giant hole in my life.
@ Scott Lanter have You heard about Jane? aka Nightbirde ..She is certainly anything but plain, 😘 She's in Zanesville, Oh. muy bueno, AGT. She has cancer. 💔
Dan Haggerty was the apitamy of what was good back then. His humble character and his beloved bear Ben. Dan you and Ben are now walking the wilderness of heaven together as god intended. Children of today should watch your stories and learn to appreciate our beautiful world and the nature that resides within it. God bless you Dan
Love this show and am still watching as episodes are on TH-cam wish this was on proper dvd release grew up watching Dan just brilliant as grizzly adams
What a wonderful show that was. I was a young kid back them, and the whole idea of Grizzly Adams, his friends, the woods, the animals, all just pulled me in. Now I know that America was going through some hard times back then, but this show I think represented what people yearned for amidst the difficulties. Such a beautiful and innocent show, with wonderful ideas. I wish we had something like that today.
Yeah, Griz was our Sesame Street and Electric Company. Be kind and help when you can and be willing to learn love to survive. Y'all getting me emotional. And I pride myself on being hardcore like my grams with my grands. lol.
What a Wonderful Show very Clean and Wholesome viewing for the Family. Thank You for All the Great Times. P.S I still Watch to this Day. God’s Blessings always Be With You.
Such an amazing time being a child when The Life And Times Of Grizzly Adams came out. I went to see it at five years old and it has stayed in my heart ever since. Such a beautiful story/man and movie as well as a TV show. Takes me back to an innocent time of nothing buy happy memories. Thanks to all who were involved. Love to you all!
You can tell he really enjoyed that time of his life, as I really enjoyed that show and this interview....R.I.P man thank you for those wonderful memories
As a kid I loved watching the Grizzily Adams show. Around 1985 or 1986 I was a young deputy at the Men's L.A. County Jail. One morning as I was about to get off work from the night shift in the Jail Hospital I was told to go up to the "old side" to escort an inmate back to the 2nd floor unit in the jail hospital where note worthy inmates were housed. When I arrived at the general population module I was given a JRC (jail record card) and told to escort the inmate to the hospital ward. I was amazed to look at the inmate and see that it was Dan Haggerty standing before me in a dark blue jail jump suit. He was barefoot and the leggings of his jump suit was a bit short for his height. He had no possessions. His hair and beard was exactly as he wore it on the Grizzily Adams Show. He was very polite and quiet. I had small talk with him as I escorted him to the proper housing. Some deputy must of have recognized him and ordered the rehousing. To me he was so well known and highly recognizable and I couldn't believe he was not screened better in the process and housed accordingly. He wasn't in custody for very long. I remember this so clearly even though it was 35 or 36 years ago. He was a gentle kind man just as he is remembered by his loved ones. Take care good man.....
What an Awesome interview And one Gracious Great Man !! God Bless you Dan Haggerty, I remember the show well. I watched it weekly as a kid. 🙂👍 Hollywood doesn't know anything about. " family shows " anymore.
Grizzly Adam's made a great impression on me as a kid! It was always intriguing and comforting to watch the show. The fact that you acknowledge God for His creation is refreshing and very rare, especially now a days. Thanks for one of the coolest show of my childhood Dan!
Happy Trails my friend .... so proud to have worked with you way back home in Canada -:) A treasured memory while you were here, moreso now you are gone. You are now reunited with many friends, the human and four legged kind ! Thank you for the years Dan x
How many of us watched every week wanted to go and live in the woods? Man I did! And now at 51, with a hectic modern Life...I dream of doing it every day! Rip Dan. You gave us something to dream on with.
One of my childhood favorites. I had a crush on Grizzly Adams. That was my celebrity love. Lol. The show was so wholesome, and adventurous. I loved it.
Thanks to you, dear sir I am today exactly where I wanted to be since I was a little girl. I was writing songs about you, about that amazing life in the nature, and the show felt like home to me. Wish I could have met you in person. Now I have my own Joshua (the Racoon) coming to eat on my porch and all the animals and people are amazing around me. God bless you and God bless my home and America! This is where my heart finally found its peace. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️!
I didn't know I needed to see this today. And here it is. How completely wonderful! What a show, and what a great and heartfelt discussion here. Thanks to Dan for the show, and the memories of happy family times around the tv watching it
As a kid in the early 70's TV was not directed towards young viewers. Disney and Grizzy Adams was something to look forward to. Saturday morning's was different. Thanks for the memories. 👍
Rest in Peace Mr. Haggerty. I watched your show as a child and loved it. It seems the times when a family could sit down together and watch a wonderful show together are long gone. You will be missed .
I actually teared up when he passed away. Always wanted to meet him. Always wanted to live like that. I'm closer now than I ever been. I do live back in the woods of Southern Ky. Lots of animals here and I do talk to the deer, lol. I've been within 20 yards of them and videoed them. They didn't seem to mind.
That show had a huge positive impact on a lot of people, myself included. Thanks to that show and Grizzly Adams, and the theme song, I ended up buying property and building a cabin in Colorado in the late '80's that our family still uses to this day. As a young person in the '70's, the show and the song really defined my feelings about the mountains, the outdoors, the animals, and nature in general. Really great stuff, Dan Haggerty will be missed, but never forgotten, he was a great guy.
I was born near lake Tahoe, California in the forest so I was able to relate to Grizzly Adams because it very much was how life was for me on that mountain, now the world has closed in and there is no wide open spaces anymore, it's very heart breaking! In any case, RIP Mr. Haggerty!!
I have to say, the Grizzly Adams show was my brother, sister’s, and my favorite tv series. We loved it so much. It was filled with the outdoors, an amazing assortment of cool animals, a huge bear, a cool guy, and great stories. We never missed this show. We were so upset when it was taken off the air for some less than stellar cookie cutter shows.
As a child..i loved si fi and still do...well..Grizzly Adams and Battel Star Galactica aired at the same time....i shose Adams...i had forgotten why tileci seen it again on u tube....it fun wholesome and makes me feel good..speaks to the heart...thank you..and GOD bless Mr Hagardy...rest in peace..🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Dan, you were my childhood hero as the Mountain Man that talked to the animals. Absolutely the best TV series of my childhood. Thank you for such great memories. Jose Wales Outpaws in the West!
I was just watching Grizzly Adams last night. I have very few good memories as a child, less than 10 in fact..But, Grizzly Adams was my best and favorite!!!
There is no one better that can play that part as grizzly adams as Dan Haggerty can , the life and times of grizzly adams was a very holsum show with no blood and guts of killing like there is today and all I can say is Dan no one can be grizzly adams but you , and we miss you all that touch our hearts with so much joy 😊..........
I miss Grizzley Adams, Dan Haggerty, the native american, and crazy mad jack, they all touched my heart, as a boy, and molded me, into, an even better man, learned so many things..
I never watched Grizzly Adams when it first came on the networks. I saw the show one day in syndication and instantly fell in love with it. I Loved the way Nakuma, Mad Jack, and Grizzly Adams were played. I especially Loved the treatment of all the animals and people that walked in their path in every episode. All were treated with LOVE, KINDNESS, and RESPECT. I wish this show had stayed on longer, and that it still played in my area. The good thing is that I have the Grizzly Adams DVD's and that I have it on You Tube Lastly, I wish to send an RIP to Denver Pyle and Dan Haggerty!!!!!!!!! and a Hello to Don Shanks. Love to all!!
I remember watching this show when I was a kid and I absolutely loved this show. Dan Haggerty was my all time favorite actor. You are sorely missed. I hope I can meet you in Heaven some day. R.I.P. Mr. Haggerty.
Dan Haggerty as Grizzly Adams was my all-time childhood hero. He had a major impact on me. I hope to meet you some day in Heaven!

ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS EVER!!!!❤️❤️😁✝️
Mr Haggerty i never missed an episode as a kid - inspired me to learn nature & protect it - i still do - great job
Awesome interview and a TRUE Gentleman.
I remember watching this show when I was a kid and I absolutely loved this show. Dan Haggerty was my all time favorite actor. You are sorely missed. I hope I can meet you in Heaven some day. R.I.P. Mr. Haggerty.
