      Ha ha 😂 The main thing here is, we are adding a plane and connecting its color to the video. So for each frame of the animation, the plane will get its color (texture) from each corresponding frame of the video. As a result, when we play it fast, it will show the video.

  • @TheSillybits

    Great tutorial, thanks. I have (maybe a very silly) question: suppose you have 2 or more cameras in a blender scene, would it be possible to cast 1 camera view to a “screen” instead of the Tom & Jerry clip and have another camera displaying the scene from another angle? I hope its understandable what I am trying to ask!

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can do this in a different way. Not sure if there is a way to cast the camera output to another object data. But we can first render the scene through the first camera and create a video file. Then apply this video file as a texture on the target "screen" and capture it with the second camera. Now render it again. You get what you wanted, I suppose.

      Hi, a pink color means a missing file across Blender. Please check the location and the format of the file. Is it mp4? Is it corrupted? Also check the normal of the surface that you're working with (although a bad normal would still not create pink color, pink means Blender is not able to read the source file for some reason). Try to change the video and use some other video file. Please let me know if still nothing works.

      As far as I know, there is no "animated texture". The texture animation is handled by the animation software itself (my knowledge on other 3d animation software apart from Blender is limited, so I might be wrong there).

    how to pause and play video at a specific keyframe
    is it possible or not

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, definitely possible. Say you have an animation running from frame# 1 to 250 and you want to pause it at frame# 100. You need to insert a keyframe at 100. Now move the rest of the keyframes (after this keyframe) by say 150. So your total length now becomes 250+150 i.e. 400. Now copy the keyframe at frame# 100 and paste it at frame# 250. So between frame# 100 and 250 there is no movement because these two keyframes are exactly equal. You need to do it for all the objects that are moving. Only exception is your camera. You can move your camera while the objects are at a freeze. Now render this, and you will get an output where the animation stops at frame# 100 and resumes at 250. (If the objects still move between these two frames, open the graph editor and change the interpolation mode to linear for the duration between these two keyframes). For the sound effect, you need to handle it separately based on what you want to play when the animation is paused.

    I assume the surface can be curved? Probably a single face? Thanks!!

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the surface can be curved as well, it will work. But you need to create the uv mapping correctly. A curved surface is made of several pieces, it cannot be a single face. You can first add the video texture to a flat single face. Then subdivide it & curve it. The UV mapping & the texture will then stay intact.

    How to add sound? Is any way to synchronize sound and add effects in blender

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you rendering the video directly with sound, or are you adding the sound separately by first rendering an image sequence from your animation? Direct rendering should not have a sync problem if it plays okay in the viewport preview. If you are adding the sound separately, there may be a problem with sync due to a mismatch in the frame rates. To fix it, change the speed of the audio slightly up or down until it matches perfectly. You can calculate it by looking at the length of the audio and the video - there will be a small difference that is causing the sync issues.

    • @COOLACADEMYFORPHYSICSANDMATH
      @COOLACADEMYFORPHYSICSANDMATH ปีที่แล้ว

      @@5MinutesBlender I render in png then add sound, here 24 frames per second and in the editor (Camtasia), 30 fps. that's why it was lagging. Now it's okay.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว

      @@COOLACADEMYFORPHYSICSANDMATH Oh! FPS 24 and 30 will create a big difference. I thought it was same and still there are issues. Actually if you observe minutely, there may still be a sync problem with same FPS, however, it will be in the order of fraction of a second. It happens with 24 FPS because technically some software or TV screens treat 24 as 23.976 (there may be some history behind this). To fix that minute difference, adjust the audio speed to say 98% or 99% etc.

    Why the projected video is slower for me than the actual one? Can u pls help me with it?

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว

      Slower in what respect? Does it run slower in the viewport? Is the rendered output slow? What is the FPS rate (frames per second) of your original video clip and what is the FPS you have selected while rendering in Blender? These things are important to know as they can influence the speed. Basically, a video is nothing but a sequence of pictures that are shown rapidly to create the illusion of a "video" footage. Your original video is also made of such individual pictures. Blender maps one such picture for each frame. The speed of the output video can be slower if your original video has say 30 fps and Blender is using 24 fps.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Please check the aspect ratio of your video and the dimensions of the plane you are using. If they are same and still the image is not correct, you may need to rotate the image by 90 degrees to fit with the orientation of your plane. This can be done using a simple UV editing, or using a mapping node in the shader editor.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, I don't think the version would have any effect. The pink color across Blender means some file is missing, some texture or picture is missing. So double-check your files. Sometimes it keeps an old reference to your textures or pictures. If you move those files into another location the link gets broken. If nothing works, start with a fresh new Blender project and do it again from the scratch. I hope the problem will be resolved.

      This is actually a limitation, Blender does not pack movie or video files. You can read about this here 👉 docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/files/blend/packed_data.html Zipping the video file along with your blend file is the only way to solve it, but it alone won't help much. The receiver must save that blend file on his/her machine and map the video file manually in the video texture node. Then it will work.

  • @Vidyut_Gore
    @Vidyut_Gore ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why not just import the video as an image plane and resize to taste and done? takes a few seconds at best. Stick it on a background box for a frame if needed.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we can do that very well. It is the same thing, Blender adds the Image Texture node automatically with proper settings when we import a video file as a plane, it saves time. However, I think for a tutorial it is more helpful if we show to the audience what happens under the hood. Moreover, if someone wants to use some other object (maybe a cube, not a plane) to display the video texture, he needs to follow this route. In fact, with a cube object, we can add 6 different video files on its 6 faces and they all can run in parallel. That would be fun 😃 But for simple uses, we can just Import it as a plane, you are very correct 👍

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, the speed depends on the number of frames (fps). A video may be created in say 24 fps. But your Blender composition may use 30 fps. So when we import it into Blender, it may speed up since we are now showing 30 frames every second instead of 24. Match the fps for both and the speed will remain as the original.

    • @Keenoyads
      @Keenoyads 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@5MinutesBlender Thank you so much for your response. The speed of my blender is 24 fps. but I don't know how I find out the speed of my video. when I put inside the blender, it became slower not faster.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it slows down after the import, probably your video has 30 fps frame rate while your Blender composition is 24 fps. You can easily check the frame rate of any video with MediaInfo mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo It is a free lightweight software, I myself use it a lot. Apart from fps, it displays many other important data about any video. Now coming to the solution part, open Blender VSE, import your 30 fps video and render it as a 24 fps video, then use that in your Blender composition. You can do that in any other video editor as well.

    Thanks for this video- you rock! In trying to export this object as a GLB with the video texture I was not able to preserve the video - only the first frame. In doing some research I am across this article saying gltf does not support video textures. Do you know another format other than .blend that supports video textures for use in another application? blenderartists.org/t/exporting-a-plane-with-video-texture-as-glb-is-not-working/1392037

      As far as I know, there is no easy way to export an object along with video texture. Even if there is one, I don't really know about it. If you get to know something, please let me know as well bro.

      The method is okay, probably the mesh you are working on has a problem or the path to your video file. Can you quickly send your blend file to 5minblender@gmail.com so that we can check it?

      It usually happens when Blender hits the RAM limit. Do you have many complex objects in the scene? Or are you trying to load a heavy video clip with a large size?

      Sorry for the late reply, I was stuck with some personal work for a week. You mean in the viewport or in the actual rendered output? To get the sound in the output, you need to select an audio codec in the output properties (by default it is set to None which means no audio). For all practical purposes, it is better to add the sound externally to your animation using any video editor. But you need to know about the concept of frame rates because it can lead to syncing issues. If unsure about that, use the process as I explained above.
