Not sure if it's the recording quality or what, but something sounds really off with this whole song. I think it must be mostly the recording, sounds pretty bad in comparison to some of the other live recordings.

Excuse me for my English) Tuomas said in 2005: I wrote songs specially for Tarja. And this is true. All songs that was written till 2005 are Tarja’songs. And they have better sound only with Tarja’s voice. New songs (2006-2023) Floor sings well. But old songs Floor never can do like Tarja. Old Nightwish is metal/opera. New Nightwish is absolutely another thing. Tarja’s Era was finished many years ago. And now there are a lot of fans who like only Floor. But there are some who still like only Tarja’s Era. Even now)
I love both versions too, also, I think a lot of fans don't understand that at some point bands got tired of singers only doing lyrical voices, even Floor got tired of this after all her years singing incredible operatic voices with AF and Revamp... Is not like she can't sing Tarja songs with the lyrical voice, is a creative choice and I think Thuomas is the first who didn't wanted that... A proof of this is how he selected Anette (Who was also able to sing lyrical) after Tarja left the band This is something that happened with almost all female fronted bands, it happened with my beloved Tristania (I loved Mary Demurtas btw). I sing for hobby and with my little knowledge I understand this choice, for this kind of music belting is more rich and hard to perform that the lyrical/pop singing that Tarja did, and (to whoever reada this, pls don't get offended lol) I said lyrical/pop because that's what it is, is not the same as an opera singer this was confirmed by my lyrical singing teacher who was a tenor and he said this Broadway kind o f operatic singing was really good but never as hard as real operatic singing... Well that's just my opinion 🤭

This is such a underrated performance of Floor. I don't understand why people bring up Tarja all the time when Floor is singing older songs. They are totally different singers and they have different styles so of course Floor's performance won't sound like Tarja's version and I think that's actually great so you can listen whatever you prefer. I enjoyed this version a lot because it just sounds so great when Floor uses different singing styles and that makes this performance so impressive in my opinion. And I think we won't hear these older songs they played in decades tour again with Floor so we just should enjoy the versions we got with her and not constantly compare to Tarja's version.
Actually, it's a boon that we can listen to the older Nightwish songs with either Tarja or Floor as lead. They offer different styles while being equally gifted. That makes some songs completely unique experiences. What a pleasure.
One is not better than the other, it’s just my preference on a particular song. I enjoy all of them, and I listen to all of them. But I know it can get annoying. On Tarya’s videos, you get the same thing. I hate her accent, I hate her, and at least 1 person always mentions that she got “fired” or “canned” . And as you can see by the replies, Tarja can only do opera which is not true at all. It’s inevitable, I’m afraid.

Floor is fantastic as usual but The Kinslayer is one the songs which I like more with Tarja. While Floor better embodies the raw energy of this song, I prefer the contrast that Tarja's opera soprano adds to the frantic pace. Both versions are different yet great in their own.

Man, I love this song so much. Of course, the entire band is killing it here but Floor sings one of the best frases ever. Where she slides from rage into sweetness within a few seconds. Addicted to that frase.
