Can you believe I'm a ball python owner? This has been something I wanted to do for a long time but figured I would wait until the new reptile room is finished. There are a number of snake species I would like to keep in the future, and a good place to start is with the most popular pet reptile. Plus, Ben has always loved snakes, so it's nice to be able to share Ymir with him. I am also glad to welcome home Chihiro, who is a lively, curious, and beautiful addition. I'm glad to offer her specialized care for the rest of her days.

I’m still a little iffy about ball pythons. I’m anxiously awaiting how this little noodle does..
My bearded dragon is a rescue who also has this condition. I got him from an abysmal local pet store where he had been surrendered with another female. The shop owner even said he’s sired eggs before as a selling point. as if I would ever willingly pass his condition on to more babies! Its been really difficult finding information on how best to help him and designing his enclosure to be most beneficial. I subscribed so i can hopefully learn more with you and give my Goji his best life

it's really nice to be able to see another creator online take in these two. chihiro especially is so nice, and she looks so very polite at all times. fun fact: i TRIED my best to handle ymir before she got shipped off because i love pieds and that's she's the first i would've been able to hold, but literally every single little itty bitty thing got in the way of me handling her:(

BeWild NC is 70 miles from my house. I adopted my Leopard Gecko from them a few weeks ago. They have great set ups for all reptiles and amazing people their volunteering.

I'm so glad you got those two! I've followed both of their stories on BeWild's Facebook page. Great that the rescue found a home for them that they feel so confident about. If I'm able to rearrange things in my reptile room one day then I definitely plan to apply for one of the many, many normal ball pythons they have. It would also be my first one, but at least I've got a big boa that can take care of any uneaten rats.

Oh!!! Those poor babies! I’m like you. I can handle them eating bugs but when it comes to little animals… My mind has problems with that. I’m so glad that Ben is there with you!
Can I ask you a question? I know that several months ago you had a video about leopard geckos. Some of the handicapped ones that you had had a genetic problem that seems to run in that type of geckos. What was that called please???
My beardie only has one leg. Suffice to say she cannot have elaborate enclosure. She's in a smaller enclosure cause she doesnt move a whole lot and she doesnt need too much decor. I made her a ramp with a gentle angle with soft grooves to help her crawl up there better. She has one hiding cave for privacy which she uses often, but i have to help her get out of the cave. Somehow she has no issue getting into the cave but seems confused as to how to get out of it. She has loose substrate because she wasnt moving at all when she was on paper towel but now moves far more often with loose substrate. So far, the vet said her only issue is her missing 3 legs. Her last fecal test came back clean so that was when the vet gave the OK to try loose substrate. In terms of enrichment, I take her out of her enclosure often so that she can experience new things. We watch TV and read books together and every morning I let her bask on my terrace (protected and supervised). She usually poops during her morning bask and then i clean her body to make sure there's no poop smeared on her. Because of this, thankfully, so far she has never pooped in her enclosure.

I’ve had my male ball python Hagrid for about 4 years now. He’s in a 4x2x2 naturalistic enclosure with overhead head and light. I can’t stand bin racks with just a bowl and paper towel, they really do explore. Like you say, so misunderstood. Hagrid climbs all over the places!

I've not followed that organization but now I for sure will, even though they're far from me. Emira is so cute, I'm glad that one of your goals is to educate people about BP care! I have one myself (adopted, not bought) and she loves to move around and stretch out, but usually at night. Maybe you could set up a night cam once you have her in a furnished enclosure. Since shes under paper towels maybe she'll like to dig, so thick substrate will be great!
I try follow the Lori Torrini approach with my BP- choice-based handling - my snake is a former ambassador animal so she's super tame but started hissing after she came to live with me (if I took her out while she was in a hide, etc). So now I take her out when she's active at night and at the front of her enclosure (unless its on short notice that she needs to be weighed/vet/cleaned, although i try to do those while shes moving around anyways)

Hi jessica I really need some advice my leopard gecko had some problems shedding lately and bit off half of one of his toes the toe has now gone black and I don’t no what to do your help would be greatly appreciated kind regards,

Awwww so cute! I do have a question, I have 3 leopard geckos and they’re so amazing! Im only 10 years old and they’re my first and only reptiles, i love animals and wildlife! But one of them has mini poops, not whole but little like…. Crumbs? They’re very small and she has pan when she poops, she pushes and pushes and only a little crumble of poop comes out. She pushes her eyes together in pain and throws her butt in the sky. It could be that she is struggling to lay her egg, but when i looked under her I couldn’t find any egg. Do you maybe know why she does this?
Hi i was wondering which substrate you recommend for a aptor giant leopard gecko ? This is my first leopard gecko but i do own a pacman frog lol
