Quick correction/clarification: Weapon sets don't have completely separate skill trees, but rather only differ by 12 skill points (presumably; assuming the 2 per act we've seen in the showcase). So if you are a fire + lightning mage you probably want to mostly take general elemental damage notes and then specialize your weapon sets with 2-3 dedicated clusters fire and lightning clusters.
@alexsterling5788 i haven't even thought about whether they still have points as quest rewards tbh. If we still get 124 points with the new tree that would certainly be a really clean design, and super customizable.

If you wanna know the lore of the trailer, the hooded one is almost garunteed to be the god Sin, and the thing inside the ball is The Beast (the source of all thaumaturgy/skill gems in Wraeclast) in poe1 we kill the beast in act 4 and in act 9 we help sin reclaim the Dark Ember from the corpse of the beast, to defeat Kitava. In poe2 Wreaclast has been free from corruption for 20 years or so since the death of the beast. That is until The Count claims it from Sin and awakens it.

To address the 4 map bricking of the atlas thing - a recent chat with Jonathan had this to add. There is a failsafe in place (full atlas reset) if you brick every map in a way to no longer be able to progress in any direction on the atlas

My first major ARPG was diablo 3 (I am a console player not PC). When I tried the original POE, I found it too much. I was still new to the genre, I've much expanded my familiarity with the genre. Between than, and the changes they are making for people new to the game, I am really getting interested in POE2. Thanks for the info and opinions.
poe 1 or 2, will NEVER have a campaign skip. and i dont think they ever should. to be clear. the dual spec IS limited to the few specialization points you will get. it will be something like 100 permanent points, with 20 dual spec points. (numbers not withstanding). you will NOT be able to dual spec the entire tree.
If you've heard Jonathan talk about campaign skips he says something like - It will be a cold day in hell when I want a campaign skip, but I suppose never say never
I play games for the lore, if the lore is good then it set a good foundation for end game. If it’s just end game without lore it doesn’t bring excitement
I'm going to just have a blast with this game, taking my time, soaking in the atmosphere and doing as much as i can. As for what i'll play, i might start with Sorc, couse that Chronomancer looks very fun!
It sounds like above every other feature and change that poe 2 has, the access to changing your character up for a low relative cost and access to multiple equipment sets are the 2 biggest boons they could have added. Once the main game releases, I hope we can get a story skip with no gear attached for people who want to make something different and can buy a full set of gear with their earnings.
Thinking of og Diablo. I think that stance with the archer, mage, and warrior maybe a tribute to the old Diablo and how only the warrior made it out only to be food for the corruption. Like in Diablo 2 the warrior became the wanderer
This looks so sick. One of my biggest complaints in PoE were the Skill Gems. I absolutely hated the color-coded coordination. It killed itemization too as I wasn’t even looking at what dropped, I just looked at what the links were. I’ll definitely be playing the shit out of this

i like the fact that GGG is going the way it is doing: actually listen to the playerbase. just like cofeestain studios did and is still doing: listen to the playerbase, and if they really want something changed/added into the game, they wil see what they can do, but most importantly: communicate said things towards the player. unlike many big studios that say: we made the game, you play it the way we want, if you dont like it: thats a you problem.
One thing I've learnt over the years with GGG is that you can sit back and let them work on the game. If they make a decision you don't agree with or are unsure about, there's never some sort of ulterior shady motive driving it, they just genuinely think it will be better for the game. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong, but they are always keen to improve on the past. They've identified a lot of mistakes they've made, and systems that can be improved, and you can see the interative improvements made every year. They have their compass set correctly for the players, and it means I never feel like I need to second guess their decisions and worry about the game going down the gurgler, even if I don't agree with them at the time. They heavily experiment with new systems and act on feedback, and those things are unfortunately quite rare these days. Long live PoE2 and GGG.
Hey Hawg. Not to disapoint but i think you misunderstood the weapon specialization points. You earn a base 120 or something skillpoints from leveling up and quests and then another 10-20 ish that you can use for the weapon slots. They showed and mentioned the weapon spec points comes from the doing the hidden bosses in each act (we saw a book that grants 2). My guess is 2 or 4 per act - so 12 or 24 points to specialize each weaponslot. Jonathan has mentioned in older interviews you would not be able to both be a 2h melee warrior and a fire mage (like completely different things). The examples they showed with 1h shield + 2h slam will take many of the same type of nodes, and then specialize each weaponslot in a specific thing. Same thing for the sorc taking mostly good caster nodes and then specializing in fire or lightning.
No bruhv the video even showed a clip of one passive tree deactivated when using the second weapon so you can one staff specifically for lightning element and another one specifically for fire if you wanted.
Hype level is about 32 on a scale of 1 - 10. Probably playing Warrior or Mercenary. Although I do want to try a Chronomancer minion build too. Favorite part of the livestream is the fact that if you die you fail the map. I hated the multiple death approach to bossing/mapping in PoE 1. This is a closer to hardcore without actually being hardcore, but I like that survivability matters more. And slower combat, even if late game still seems too fast, it seems more methodical and I love it.
05:00 At least for me, that's not true. I've started to play PoE2 after the D4 release, and I have 600+ hours in the game. I've never finished the campaign even once. Every 10-15 hours, I find something new that I want to try, so I create a new character. That's the fun part for me.
I can't wait to dive in, plan on getting the beta but going to be focusing OSRS leagues till that's over in a few months. Only comes out every few years. The game seems well worth the few bucks. I got extra money since I dodged a bullet with Vessel.

johathan said that de dual spec point isnt going to be as drastic as going to a mace slamming warrior that can weapon swap to a fire elemental list. but it is going to be good for finding combos and mechinc interactions. like if you playing slam.. there maybe be a mod like "deal more dmg to frozen enemies" and then you can swap to a second weapon that has freeze chance to enemies and then swap back. or have two handed weapons and swap to one handers and shield for the new active block mechanic. either way my brain is starting to hurt from all the potential combitronics that are available. cant wait for the 6th
I got an idea. Imagine that the 25 hours of gameplay first time is for following standard path and the creature is far ahead always that way, but once you know the map and the routes it can take, what you actually do is take a shorter routes so you are able to cut his path and "reach the final fight" faster. that would be nice, no idea of how to make the implementation
my only question is. what is a death is it dying once in a map and its bricked or burnin 6 portals then its bricked. because if the later then that already happens in poe1 you die 6 times and your done with that map or boss. im assuming 6 portals but mark wasn't specific on that.
Other than trading whats the point of 6 portals other than if you die you can try again? I am almost certain it will be bricked if you use all 6 portals instead of if you just die once
In poe1 act 10 monster is harder than tier 1 map to tier 3 mobs i think its the same in POE2. So if u can finish the campaign u can handle this 1st 4 maps
you can have 2 twohanded weapon which you can mix with other characters abilities, + 10 other things i already forget you can mix up , bro what r we talking here, this game will take 10k hours or more of our lifes.
I can imagine last areas in campaign (an their bosses) being more difficult then T1 maps. It has always been the case in PoE1. And you can run maps white with no mods. And they have no bosses most of the time. Failing 4 maps in a row in this scenario seems impossible.. well, unless you have 10 beers or something like that :D .. and I bet GGG has some mechanisms to prevent people being stuck
I feel like PoE 2 is gonna impact Last Epoch's numbers more so than D4. It's a fresh start, so there is no "unsurmountable knowledge barrier", and with the in-game Wiki it should make it easier to understand mechanics. It also has way better graphics and way more content. D4 has the brand recognition and the marketing budget, but I really don't see how LE is going to compete with PoE 2.
never had flask problems if ur crit build they always onwith gain charges on crit and on a tank build/block build to with gain charge on hit and "use when full " and maybe a chest with all 3 sek 2 charges its like 100% uptime
I just picked Poe1 back up today after a long time away, and the color/gem thing is a mess. It's too much and felt like a roadblock that I circle back around to hit over, and over again. That is not even close to endgame, where it is much, much worse. Poe2 is is like the devs asked me what kind of game I would like to have made, then did it. 2 weeks boys!!
Things that kept me from playing PoE1 1. Flasks nonsense 2. Graphics & VFX 3. Skill gem nonsense I love that they fixed all of these and cant wait for EA
Maybe im just dumb. but i watch all the reveal. and the second time i watched there were parts that i completly miss, and i can assure i never left the screen. is not like i dont remember them well. was like if it was director's cut poe 2 reveal.
Rolling all the gear,sockets, links and flasks is all part of the chase and are layers of development. Those things are what make PoE more interesting and challenging and rewarding. It's a bit sad that they are simplifying the game in PoE2. Hopefully it stands on it's own merits, because they are tossing a lot of the merits that made PoE great for a lot of it's most loyal and long time players.
wait... your actually saying that rolling flasks and using fusings is what made poe great? Come on dude... have you actually played? Go back and re-read that statement and you'll see how silly it sounds. If you remove using fusings and chromes (that's all they did, you will still roll charms like you did utility flasks), that doesn't kill the complexity of the game, or the things that made the game great. Don't doom on the game before you play it. Games evolve, just like Diablo 1 did.
I doubt you will ever be able to skip the campaign they seem to have strong feelings about it besides the campaign is a great way to see how your build is measuring up to past playthroughs.

I'd just rather they let players brick themselves, after all that's not 3 deaths it's 24, six portals per map, like anyone who's so stupid that they keep hitting their heads on a wall for that long just deserves it, it's not like they're going to get anywhere else. One thing i appreciate about PoE despite not playing it that much is in how it has a true endgame where not everyone is guaranteed to progress and only players who actually learn the game will ever get into, it's a concept that is kryptonite to modern western devs and one of the things that make PoE special.

There are clear indications that D4 will be officially issued with a death certificate on December 6. The biggest streamers have all already announced that they are jumping ship. But they still say that they will continue to make content for D4, even though they want to become absolute master blasters for PoE2. You know how it is. The girlfriend talks about taking a break, but is already moving in with her new lover. For something to be swapped, it needs at least one of two things. The old one is bad and no longer bearable. The new one is great and a real alternative. If both factors occur at the same time, things happen very quickly. Of course, the captain of the old brand lets the musicians carry on playing while the boat sinks. But if you watch closely, you will see him screaming loudly, naked fear in his eyes, typing a final message on X 😂

The evil and darkness is for sure feels like D2 , waited for this masterpiece for long long long time.
I would expect somewhat of an Orb of Scouring to reset a failed map or a currency to create a new path between two nodes as a way to avoid bricks.

You still need to use jewelers orbs to get more support gem slots on skills but they are deterministic. One orb upgrades from 2-3 etc etc

the weapon swapping tree swapping is for, and with, a limited set of points.. so it'ds not the entire tree but parts of it using the specific points
the weapon swap stuff seems to be tied to the xtra points they give so it maybe like an xtra 6-10 nodes but I bet u can get fancy with it

If the exilecon pops off make sure you sleep in that shed. Get a bed setup incase you don't get any sleep. I'm excited about it.

I was hyped 4-5/10, basically i wanted to eventually give it a go when the full release drops , but after GGG presentation I'm playing day 1 EA
I got an idea.
Imagine that the 25 hours of gameplay first time is for following standard path and the creature is far ahead always that way, but once you know the map and the routes it can take, what you actually do is take a shorter routes so you are able to cut his path and "reach the final fight" faster. that would be nice, no idea of how to make the implementation
my only question is. what is a death is it dying once in a map and its bricked or burnin 6 portals then its bricked. because if the later then that already happens in poe1 you die 6 times and your done with that map or boss. im assuming 6 portals but mark wasn't specific on that.
Other than trading whats the point of 6 portals other than if you die you can try again? I am almost certain it will be bricked if you use all 6 portals instead of if you just die once

Holy shit, I just noticed that on the skill gem page, it gives you the DPS of each skill.
Also on the skill tree. They did work to make things more transparent when making choices.

In poe1 act 10 monster is harder than tier 1 map to tier 3 mobs i think its the same in POE2. So if u can finish the campaign u can handle this 1st 4 maps
you can have 2 twohanded weapon which you can mix with other characters abilities, + 10 other things i already forget you can mix up , bro what r we talking here, this game will take 10k hours or more of our lifes.

I can imagine last areas in campaign (an their bosses) being more difficult then T1 maps. It has always been the case in PoE1. And you can run maps white with no mods. And they have no bosses most of the time. Failing 4 maps in a row in this scenario seems impossible.. well, unless you have 10 beers or something like that :D .. and I bet GGG has some mechanisms to prevent people being stuck
I feel like PoE 2 is gonna impact Last Epoch's numbers more so than D4. It's a fresh start, so there is no "unsurmountable knowledge barrier", and with the in-game Wiki it should make it easier to understand mechanics. It also has way better graphics and way more content. D4 has the brand recognition and the marketing budget, but I really don't see how LE is going to compete with PoE 2.

never had flask problems if ur crit build they always onwith gain charges on crit and on a tank build/block build to with gain charge on hit and "use when full " and maybe a chest with all 3 sek 2 charges its like 100% uptime

I just picked Poe1 back up today after a long time away, and the color/gem thing is a mess. It's too much and felt like a roadblock that I circle back around to hit over, and over again. That is not even close to endgame, where it is much, much worse.
Poe2 is is like the devs asked me what kind of game I would like to have made, then did it. 2 weeks boys!!
Things that kept me from playing PoE1
1. Flasks nonsense
2. Graphics & VFX
3. Skill gem nonsense

Maybe im just dumb. but i watch all the reveal. and the second time i watched there were parts that i completly miss, and i can assure i never left the screen. is not like i dont remember them well. was like if it was director's cut poe 2 reveal.
Rolling all the gear,sockets, links and flasks is all part of the chase and are layers of development. Those things are what make PoE more interesting and challenging and rewarding. It's a bit sad that they are simplifying the game in PoE2. Hopefully it stands on it's own merits, because they are tossing a lot of the merits that made PoE great for a lot of it's most loyal and long time players.
wait... your actually saying that rolling flasks and using fusings is what made poe great? Come on dude... have you actually played? Go back and re-read that statement and you'll see how silly it sounds. If you remove using fusings and chromes (that's all they did, you will still roll charms like you did utility flasks), that doesn't kill the complexity of the game, or the things that made the game great. Don't doom on the game before you play it. Games evolve, just like Diablo 1 did.

I doubt you will ever be able to skip the campaign they seem to have strong feelings about it besides the campaign is a great way to see how your build is measuring up to past playthroughs.

Used to be a Diablo fan but I’m so sick of being disrespected. I tried to get into POE 1 but never was able to get far into it. I am ready to dive into POE2
I'd just rather they let players brick themselves, after all that's not 3 deaths it's 24, six portals per map, like anyone who's so stupid that they keep hitting their heads on a wall for that long just deserves it, it's not like they're going to get anywhere else. One thing i appreciate about PoE despite not playing it that much is in how it has a true endgame where not everyone is guaranteed to progress and only players who actually learn the game will ever get into, it's a concept that is kryptonite to modern western devs and one of the things that make PoE special.
New ARPG player here…any plan to release a video for dummies on the gems, support gems, skills etc. Diablo is the dumbed down version of this but I’m excited to play but no idea what the hell is going on with gems. Thanks.

There are clear indications that D4 will be officially issued with a death certificate on December 6. The biggest streamers have all already announced that they are jumping ship. But they still say that they will continue to make content for D4, even though they want to become absolute master blasters for PoE2. You know how it is. The girlfriend talks about taking a break, but is already moving in with her new lover. For something to be swapped, it needs at least one of two things. The old one is bad and no longer bearable. The new one is great and a real alternative. If both factors occur at the same time, things happen very quickly. Of course, the captain of the old brand lets the musicians carry on playing while the boat sinks. But if you watch closely, you will see him screaming loudly, naked fear in his eyes, typing a final message on X 😂
