Terrific video. I’ve had my SX for almost a week and I’ve been ignoring the pattern sequencer so far. But when I decide to try it out THIS is the video that I’ll put on!
My Favourite DAW is now purely my SP404 and Tascam DR-05 recorder. Staying out of software has been the best move I've ever made. It might just be the way my brain works but, too many choices and ways to do things seems to be counter-productive for me. I have an MPC Studio Black that just sits in the drawer these days. Thank you for pushing such great content! You keep me motivated and your outside the box thinking is refreshing!
Me to ! I have 3 mpc mpc1000, xl,live, machine but im so tired when i use software daw controller Wi fi i took my computers and put em in my closet just using the sp404sx a synth n a zoom h4n now ...love it the sp404sx is my favorite piece of hardware.
This is the first SP 404sx video where I finally understand how to use this thing. You're a great explainer and I am thankful for this video. I watched so many and finally get it.
i started with FL Studio budding fresh learning how to sample vinyl and finger drum on the fpc (remember when it was Fruity Loops ;P) but somehow after the gritty foundation moved on and had a love affair with Ableton where basic fundamental of mixing mastering was honed. Then realized after amany years creativity and joy of beatmaking was killed as i got too much into the details of music production but all in love is fair as now im happily back wit and at it in FL Studio 20 loving the gift making music whatever it entails more than ever. SP404 been wit me throughout the journey but kept getting interrupted by production due to the difficulty of solely relying on it just to mix. but now it don't matter any more. this video and your love for making music has helped get out of the rut of detail & has given me that push to use the SP404 to play to someone. thank you brother!
Just bought a SP 404A today....can u please do a beginners guide from the moment u plug n play, full walk thru using sounds, micro joints all that famo?✊🏽🇲🇦
The video was helpful. I like the idea of even using the intro as a bridge. Thanks for making the video steady with the info but smoothe enough for a intermediate level person to grasp.
Dope video! If you think abouy it, arranging is more or less like dubbing in reggae. Like thats where the arrangement comes from. If you listen to a King Tubby track its pretty much like a hip hop beat: atmospheric instruments, hard bass and drums, and bringing certain sections in n out with delays. And that was in the 70s! His artform has just become popular now.
Your enthusiasm really compliments your talent and most of all your SKILL. You’re always very enjoyable to learn from and very informative. Good ish fam. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Great video. My fav daw is probably cubase but I've actually been using logic for a while now. Thinking about checking out Ableton to see what all the fuss is about
"This is not supposed to be a math class!"...but it does help explain beat structure easier. Thanks for this video, when it comes to the SP 404 these videos age really well and help those new to the 404 like me.
Man I'm with u here thanks pal 🙂 Im getting one to compose with and for hands on structure. I started wondering about how the triggering timing works for each part to pad and you showed it clearly there pal! Thanks..I need to get the thing hands on to learn what I can do with it but ur vids are really gonna help me learn faster!
I'm interested in getting a 404sx/A but a question I can't seem to find an answer from watching videos, can i save samples and patterns as a project and have different samples/patterns on my pad banks per project?
@@chuytheleast6468 I assume this is one of the reasons why many SP 404 users resample there sequences because there is no individual sequence tempo, just a master tempo for all sequences. My best guess. I don't own a 404 yet.
damn i havent used my 404 in a long time after getting into FL Studio... but, recently... i just havent been feeling the vibe thru the DAW like i used to when i made beats on my 404 and am starting to relearn a workflow on the 404 and this video has given me so much ideas and inspiration thank you :)
The Boss-n-Roland samplers are simple-n-fun. Basic looping-n-chopping samples. Effects you can experiment with. I can say for me myself -n-I these are the best samplers for a beginner.
I'm still having a bit of trouble with making music with the Sp-404 Sx. I was wondering if you can make a tutorial that we can play along with you, during your tutorial please and Thank you?
Is it possible to send metronome from Roland sp-404sx only to a headphones output? For example if i would like to play with a drummer and to send him the metronome while on main output there's only sample?
I love my MPC live, the 2000xl has a special place in my heart though. I am now looking for a good sampler, I like how the boss sp303 sounds, and am gonna try and pick one up, but the Roland sp404 is also an option. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the great content!
Verysickbeats thanks for the feedback! And thanks for the great content, glad I found your channel! I’m pretty versed in the mpc, but not a master quite yet! Getting there, I was thinking I started way back with the mpc 1000 about 10 years ago, upgraded to the mpc live and I learn new things nearly everyday. I think the reason I’m all amped on the 303 is definitely grittier sounds and fluidity in my arrangements. But nevertheless it’s been a long process, and there’s a lot more for me to learn. I’ll keep tuning in, and gaining more knowledge. Thanks again for the advice! Stay blessed!
Maschine studio str8 to Ableton live 10....AKAI Advance 49 midi board then drop the needle on the Stanton T92 turntable.....I’m still getting use to using and running all this shit together 😓✊🏽🇲🇦...oh yeah then sequence abit thru my AKAI APC 40 MKII...♑️ 🐐
Thanks for the video! How do you usually deal with the 'single bpm' of the SP? I'm talking about the pattern sequencer can only remember the last bpm used, which messes up other patterns that were built with a different BPM. This is the thing that makes me always return to the resampling method...which has its own downfalls
yeah I tend to oscillate between those two. Thanks for this video and all the other ones! I've bought your piano lessons for 25 hip-hop classics and can't wait to get to it! Cheers
Here in Peru is difficult to get an mpc or shit like that bcause its rare and very expensive. Im tryin to get my sound from old records with a numark pt01 and rock them in the fl studio. not like the MPC but you can save patterns and samples. unfortunately patterns won't keep the same tempo if you adjust them for each beat.
