Shadow swarm was meant to be a place holder for domain expansion but smthing happened which IDK.
i think they decided to make shadow swarm a domain invasion if you get close to the domain and use it (reference to megumi entering dagon's domain)
Tze said megum's domaim is too much of a mess so he decided to scrap it entirely.
Tze said that chimera shadow garden wouldn’t really be useful at all to use so he replaced it with shadow swarm with what megumi did in the manga (culling games)

The reason why mahoraga started shadow boxing was because in the manga it was shown that he was parrying sukunas slashes

Just a little nitpick but for the heavy parry the clip of him doing it is when sukuna launches dismantle slashes at mahoraga and they both get blasted away and sukuna comes out with popcorn and a soda, and for the clip of mahoraga punch8ng air this is actually him trying to punch slashes that he thinks sukuna is launching at him when in reality there are no slahes
