I had a storage unit for a tad over three years. As that third year approached, I literally was beyond myself in how much I spent for things that I ended up no longer needed and/or no longer wanted. The moment I returned the space back to the storage company, donated items to charity, and turned in the U-Haul van was one of the greatest feelings I have ever had. It felt like I was able to move on and get myself back into a healthier frame of mind. Ever since then, I strive to practice minimalism. It has worked out well for going on 5 years!
Self-storage is an exorbitant tax on your emotions as your valuable possessions (I.e., "crap") glacially moves from the living room to the landfill. Also, physics applies. Crap at rest tends to stay at rest.
Storage units. If you are using them because you have been evicted..Rent 2 smaller unit instead of 1..use DIFFERENT companies. Use 1 unit for the most valuable items..in case you cannot pay for the unit..if you have 2 at 1 company you wil lose both of the units
I’m more of a minimalist and live within means so don’t have clutter and junk but most people do. I invested into self storage REITs over 20 years ago and they have done extremely well. People love credit card debt so I invested into Visa and Mastercard 14 years ago. Etc.,etc.,etc…. Vulcan logic with Ferengi determination.
I was in this same situation of my mac being too old for Apple to support. I traded in my old one for a discount on a new one. It is a safe way to,dispose of old technology that is an Apple product.
Cover everything in your story unit with terms so that nobody can see from the top. What you are storing and make sure that you wrap everything. because storage units will no longer cover in case of water damage, If the sprinkler system goes off you will lose all of your things.with insurance maybe..but destroying your possessions
the only thing good about storage units are storage unit auctions. You can pick up a whole household of beds and furniture for $25. The kicker, you usually only get 48 hours to move it all out.
The scam I hate is Chinese companies pretending to be an outlet for companies like Bombas or a Dick's sporting goods Hoka sale on Facebook. Facebook needs to up their consumer protection
Most people absolutely do not need anything more than a Chromebook. I would suggest a good model in the range of $250 to $350. Battery life is incredible on a Chromebook and they get regular, quick to install, updates that keep them secure.
I still have a 2011 Gateway touch-screen PC that I use offline only. I use my 2020 chrome book and thumb drives for online usage. I'll use both computers until they no longer work.
I have a 2004 Acer laptop . I was able to load Microsoft 10 when it came out but could not load the next version . Microsoft still gives updates for 10 but time is running out . I don't use very often and I use my phone for most of my online experience .
Storage units can be maximized by creating a frame on each side 4ft tall..put a piece of plywood on top for doubling the space.Just make sure that the plywood is set back at least 1 ft for easy access.
In Crystal Mn I rent at a climate controlled space that has enough indoor space for vehicles that 18 cars can park at one time inside..Beware.some moving truck are too tall to drive inside
I had a complaint against cracker barrel a while back. I sent a message not a tweet, they seemed legit, but I debated and decided to go to the website and keep Twitter out of the picture
I need help breaking a self storage scheme in California , my Self Storage Space of Camarillo is stealing rent and using fake insurance policies to rip off people of their storage containers after February 4 storms destroyed everything they have not informed 15 people and I’m going to try to broadcast from my Lord of the slums page on Facebook, but need a little help breaking the word🎉 Refer to George Carlin stuff routine.
Tell Me , WHO PAYS for a 10,000.00 Funeral ? I cant , do I pass this BILL on to my Children ? Burden them ? thats not being responsible, Who Pays , I Need some Answers
Consider cremation. Usually only $1500 and your ashes can be spread to any places you like. Then have a cookout with a small gathering of your relatives and closest friends later to honor your life. Very simple and saves thousands of dollars in funeral costs. Your children will be thankful you decided to go this route.
TeamClarkRocks. #BonusTerm: "Lemonade Upgrade": Woman who doesn't like new car should do a cheap but exciting Clark-style "upgrade." Keep it shiny clean, add a new sound system, satellite radio, add "racing stripes" or an exciting wrap to the exterior. Spend $1,000, not $40,000. :)
#bonusbonusterm - "From commute to hoot": More extras to make existing car fun: Customized license plate. Download audible, listen to fave authors and Podcasts (example: Clark Howard). Haha. :)

Love your podcasts. Thank you so much for helping people.
Thank you so so much! I share the information with my kids. 🎉
Thanks for sharing! 💚
I'm surprised Clark is okay in a condo given that there are HOA fees.
I hate HOAs that don't enforce age limitations. I also dislike how wasteful they are with OTHER'S money
G'morning, Clark n team!
I have never had a storage unit other than my garage or attic 😂 I’ve also never used a cloud of any kind, I don’t trust em 😅

Too old-you got scammed

Go Clark!
Clark, in metros like Atlanta the trick is to be willing to drive 20 miles to a cheaper storage location. Rates can vary widely.
4,000 square feet is not small for a condo to downsize to. That you would need also a storage unit is surprising.
We have a storage unit in our partially unfinished Basement, good thing about it is we don't have a monthly payment associated with it!
Best kind of storage unit! 💚

Do NOT install any of those restaurant "apps" or sign up for any loyalty programs.

Always better to have a face to face, even if you have to pay a little more.
geeze ... my 4 terabyte external HD by western Digital is WAY smaller than a smart phone and clarks SSD...and they're cheap and well made!
Clark please speed things up give more information in less time it's just too long

I thought you would say you downsized your storage unit to 10x10 after 16 monthes.
Wonderful to drive ondoors during bad weather.
You have to ditch the Mac. It's way beyond its lifespan.
W Clark
Do not buy/use portable drives
What is your deal??

You can actually get a 4 year bachelor's degree in storage unit management.
Lol! Amazing...
Wow! 😮
Please stop explaining what "X" is. If people don't know by now, that is an Elon Musk problem.
