- Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, received the 2013 UCSF Medal on April 4. The UCSF Medal is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in areas associated with the University's mission, goals and values. Initiated in 1975 by then Chancellor Francis Sooy, the award replaced the granting of honorary degrees. Selection of the recipients is made annually by a distinguished committee composed of members both inside and outside UCSF.

This seems to be one of the better biographies of Dr. Fauci. His in-depth research in to the AIDS epidemic is shown, along with his hands-on treatment of numerous AIDS patients. This, coupled with many commenting on how his compassion and care for his patients was well-known, highlights his concern for those afflicted with this disease. A brief interview with many interesting facts that members of the public should be more aware of.
