Inhumane Behaviour of Staff at Deoghar Airport

  • The incident about which you're going to read below and see in the video clearly depicts the utmost unhelpful and unethical nature, and the despicable attitude of IndiGo's airport staff at Deoghar, Jharkhand.
    I am someone who believes in bare minimum physical hassle, which I am sure is the case with most of us today - and would include even my seats at the time of booking the tickets itself; so you'd understand I am not someone who would avoid web check-in just for the sake of doing so.
    Naturally, I had been trying to web-checkin for the past 48 hours - right from the time when the first notification came in asking me to do so, but unfortunately their web portal has been down since and as it was when I got to the airport, seemingly on their systems as well.
    Now I am a frequent flyer and I've seen how there are people who as airport staff are super helpful in situations like these - I know people who have been ushered in and accommodated for due to their personal emergencies even at the last minute, and even without a boarding pass too!
    At the time of recording this video, there were still a good 20-25 minutes left before the scheduled closure of gates (25 minutes before the departure time) with literally not a single soul in the security line or at the check-in counter when I came in (Deoghar is a fairly small and new airport where there could only be one, or a max of two flights within in a span of 2-3 hours).
    I cannot think of a single reason why the staff was unwilling to help in this case, and kept on dragging the fact that we did not web check-in - while failing to acknowledge the error on their part where their portal hadn't been working.
    As you can see in the video, there is a lady literally crying because she missed being at a family emergency due to IndiGo's negligence and unhelpful nature.
    How can they be so heartless with their loyal customer base?
    Do we not accommodate for them when their flights are delayed or cancelled without any prior notice? I've been in such situations, where I could not be where I needed to be (or by when I needed to be) because of technical glitches or situations on their end, even when I was there well before the prerequisite time.
    Their staff, a certain Mr. Raj Kumar, who stepped in later, was particularly rude to many flyers, including women. When I tried enquiring about the flight cancellation (for the second one from Kolkata to Bangalore), I was brushed aside asking to talk to someone from your customer relationships (who is Dottie, their useless AI with a series of dumb questions with little or no help to offer). I tried that too even, but I really could not get myself to verify my PNR doing "A for Apple, B for Ball" after going through all the harassment from the staff.
    A total of 12 passengers were out there seeking nothing but help. We kept asking for the manager to come out and see us - he did not, not once, even after the departure of the aforementioned flight (while being in glaring violation to our RTI too)
    As a corporate firm with a loyal B2C client base, this certainly cannot be expected from IndiGo. They need to be more supportive of people in need - especially when they can. The greed of getting those extra bucks from people who'll be bound to reschedule anyway won't go much further, for the values and impressions such as these stick in the minds of the common folks who see or go through them - and yes, they do remember!

    It's not the fault of Indigo ground staff members..They are scared

      Agar apke pas boarding pass hai (web check-in ke via) aur aap sirf ek cabin luggage carry kar rahe hain, toh aap 25 minute pehle tak security cross kar ke board kar sakte hai by rule.

      Baggage drop counter closes 1 hr prior departure…. You need to report before it or baggage acceptance will be denied

      वो इसलिए कि उस दिन कुल १२ पैसेंजर थे जिन्हे बोर्ड नहीं करने दिया गया,और सिक्योरिटी चेक करने वाले भी बिलकुल खाली बैठे टुकुर टुकुर देख रहे थे ,उन यात्रियों में से कोई ५ तो कोई मैक्सिमम १० मिनट लेट थे। उन महिला स्टाफ के बत्तमीजी की वजह से ही वीडियो बनाना शुरू किया गया था,जिसके बाद उनका परिवर्तित व्यवहार आपको दिख रहा है। यही अगर कोई एमपी या एमएलए का सवाल हो तो सारे कानून ताक पर रखा जाता है और आप वहां पर टुकुर टुकुर ताकने के सिवा कुछ भी बोलने की हिम्मत नहीं रखते।जहां तक स्टाफ का का सवाल है,हमने देखा ही कैसे दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर लगभग ३० मिनट लेट आए व्यक्ति को वहां के स्टाफ ने बोर्ड कराया था।हवाई टिकट इतनी सस्ती नहीं की एक आम इंसान लेट आए,देवघर जैसे छोटे शहर की ट्रैफिक जाम भी कमाल ही हो गई ही।।।

    You need to respect employees and understand that it’s not their fault. Have some shame that you’re recording them, you’re not allowed to do that. If you’re so educated learn to speak politely. Nothing is in their hand remember this. People like you should get offloaded to click videos.

      Dear madam queen, just because the bad behaviour of those indigo staffs only,this boy has started making video,after which their behavior changed.Probably you have not carefully focussed on content of the conversation.There were 12 passengers whom they did not allow to board.They were ofcourse late but only by 5 to 10 minutes.I am sure you must have seen ,such cases comes very offen at the airport,but there are some staffs who manages to ensure the bording of such passengers .Since there are only two flights that too at different time ,they could have definitely managed the checkin and security very smoothly, but those indigo staffs flatly refused the requests of all those 12 passengers.One girl was crying there too. So, I think you should correct your understanding.Unless you do not know the complete situation, don't pass such stupid and idiotic comment.

      @@ravi131261 you think I’m new to all this? I’ve been a ground crew for a year and I know each and everything. See as a passenger you cannot just start recording because that’s so bad and second thing whenever there’s a delay we cannot do anything because it’s not in our hand.

      @@ravi131261 also what do you mean by just 5/10 minutes late? Everything is mentioned on your boarding pass. You have to follow those instructions I understand that as a passenger you might get stuck in traffic and there might be some genuine issues. You’re mentioning twelve passengers lol, once the paper work is done we can’t do anything. Once the gates are closed we have to close the gates to ensure the flight doesn’t get delayed. You think being a ground crew is easy? Not at all. You have to follow everything and make sure your flight departs on time because if it doesn’t depart then you’re answerable to your managers and everybody, it’s very easy for you to say that the passengers reported to gate five ten minutes late you have to make sure the flight departs on time.
