    Growing up, I used to think the 10' head on our J.I. Case 660 was huge.

      We had a 10, the neighbor got a 13. Seemed like he was showing off.

    I absolutely LOVE how massive that machine is!! Here in South Georgia, we see some of these, but maybe not this impressive piece of machinery. I love traveling a back road and hanging out behind a big farm machine and just take my time traveling and following.

    Just before I left the farm my Dad bought 3 new Massey Harris 92 combines with 14 foot headers on them. We still had trouble with them digging into the dirt on the hills. Over course they only cost about $10,000.00 Each.

    Oh!! the Dust!! Brings back memories of combining a field of oats that were very dusty--in an open station International combine. I'm glad it wasn't that dusty!!

    Mike, thanks for that video.
    Now we are seeing real production here with that 62 footer.
    Hopefully we will see lots more of them including Honeybee 60 footers and maybe some Midwest heads from the great land of Auz.
    Heck, lets build our own.

  • @Hoserfishing
    @Hoserfishing 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    the widest headers generally are flex headers so the field does not have to be flat. It follows fhe ground contour. Alot have wheels at the ends of the header and at the backas well to keep it from skidding on the ground.

    I saw it on Wednesday Mike. Yes, makes short work of a field. A semi transports the head I believe? At least it did there.

  • @John-nc4bl
    @John-nc4bl ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe that we are going to see more of these wider heads in the fields.
    The question is, will the guts of the combines be able to digest dense crops and if not, the mfgs. will have to increase their capacity.

    Mike, I'm new to your channel and I really enjoy it. You seem to know a tonne about equipment. I think it would be great content to see some videos about farm tractors (and other equipment) and why certain brands are preferred (perhaps over others). I understand you probably do not want to dis any equipment but maybe just help us understand why farmers chose the brand they did.

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for finding and watching my TH-cam Channel. There is several reasons farms choose the brand of equipment they buy. Price, They like a certain dealer salesman or the dealer personnel, They feel a particular machine has certain features and benefits that are better for their operation, Some are just brand loyal but nowadays having a dealer close by that offers good parts and service is probably one of the biggest reasons.

    • @LukeA_55
      @LukeA_55 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly what Mike said. It doesn't matter what color it is when you can call your salesman at 6pm on a Sunday about your baler breaking down, and he shows up 30 minutes later with a brand new baler
      There's certainly brands we prefer but they all break down eventually, what matters is how fast you can get em back up and running before the weather gets worse

    I know one of the main drawbacks of these is you need the reel low down to stop product falling forward over the cutterbar as it gathers to the center, there's just so much material coming in from 30ft either side.

    I'd like to know or see the ground speed of a X1100 with that head in 100 bu wheat with an acceptable amount of grain loss.
    Yow Son, fill that head full as you are wasting three feet of head while you are cutting that crop.

  • @thedonleroy

  • @dispatch444
    @dispatch444 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember a guy I worked for years ago that was a cheapskate to 10th degree.
    Dude was so bad if this were his operation he’d probably make someone follow behind the combine with a rake and shovel sifting through the silage for any loss. Then make sure every last bit of loss is collected.

  • @garymurt9112
    @garymurt9112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There ain't gonna be any long videos with that combine, blink and it's done with a field. How much long till they build 100 foot header.

  • @chrisashby4497
    @chrisashby4497 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That is a big head for sure. I'm curious do they have to put a longer unloading boom on the combine while using this wide of a head? I don't know how far this head would stick out to the side compared to what they would normally use. In my mind i wonder if the other operator pulling the grain cart would have enough room along side the combine and be able to collect the beans with a standard length offloading boom. Hope that makes sense.

    • @boristhebarbarian
      @boristhebarbarian ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Beans are an easy harvest for the combine to process. I doubt he would be traveling very fast in a wheat field, let alone a hail battered wheat field. Where are the wheels on this header? Can each side float for varying terrain?

      Ya fue probado en trigo en una S790. la velicidad de avance fué logicamente muy despacio.

    In advance please forgive my ignorance. I’ve got an odd question for anyone who wants to answer. Is there, or has there been any agriculture machine manufacturers that have designed their machines to only be compatible with their implements?

    • @Beyonder8335
      @Beyonder8335 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t personally heard of one no, at least not with conventional machines. That said, things like the new idea uni system or the nexat aren’t really gonna be compatible for normal implements. Idk if that helps at all but there you go

    Wow! That will make quick work of most sized fields! Do you have any rice harvest videos? I live in NE Arkansas near Jonesboro. They grow a lot of rice around here. I saw something this year I haven't seen before. They cut the rice at the very top only taking the grain head off. Came back with a mower. They mowed, raked and round baled the rice stems. Have you seen that done before? Love watching your channel! 👍
