Cillian Murphy (/ˈkɪliən/; born 25 May 1976) is an Irish actor. He began his career performing as a rock musician. After turning down a record deal, he began his acting career in theatre, and in short and independent films in the late 1990s.
His first notable roles were in films such as 28 Days Later (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), Intermission (2003), Red Eye (2005) and Breakfast on Pluto (2005), for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and won an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor. Murphy played the character of Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow in the Batman films of The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012). In the mid-late 2000s, he starred in films such as The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), Sunshine (2007), The Edge of Love (2008), Inception (2010) and Peacock (2010).
In 2011, Murphy won the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actor and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance for Misterman. He also became patron of the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre at the National University of Ireland Galway. He is closely associated with the work of Professor Pat Dolan, Director UCFRC and UNESCO Chair in Children, Youth and Civic Engagement. In the early 2010s, he appeared in the films In Time (2011), Retreat (2011) and Red Lights (2012).
Since 2013, Murphy has portrayed Thomas Shelby, the lead of the BBC gangster series Peaky Blinders, for which he has won two Irish Film and Television Awards for Best Actor - Drama, in 2017 and 2018 respectively. More recently, he has appeared in the films Transcendence (2014), In the Heart of the Sea (2015), Anthropoid (2016) and Dunkirk (2017). - บันเทิง
I sat and had 3 drinks with Cillian about 3 years ago.
Randomly bumped into him at a pub. He was there by himself.
The man is so down to earth. It turned out the my mum's family knew his mum's family.
We spoke about Peaky Blinders for about 20mins and then spoke about life and Scotland for about 2hrs.
I'm Scottish and Irish as my mum is Irish and my dad was Scottish. He didn't once brag about himself, even when we talked about Peaky and I complimented him he got embarrassed.
When it came time to go he shook my hand and thanked me for "Talking to him like he was a normal man"
Definitely a memory I'll cherish. Dunno if he'll do same though lol.
But he is utterly genuine.

He is rated very well by casting crews and thus landed him the roles in the Batman Trilogy and also Peaky Blinders.
He is overlooked by many as he doesn't stand out as he doesn't want to stand out like other characters.

@Ninja - so your parents cheekbones jawlines etc will probably be transferred to you and from then on since your birth it is your job to maintain those genes. if you do not eat a lot of food get fat, your jawline and good features will be overshadowed. lets say after getting fat you go back to normal your face will resemble your parents maybe grandparents. Jamie only reason it’s faded a little is because he’s lived in London so it would get stronger if he still lived in cork or Ireland . What I do notice is the pace of his speech is quicker when younger and cork people generally talk so fast there . Got relatives from there and it’s where my great gran is from !

I'm from Aberdeen and used to have a strong Doric accent, I live in Inverness now and it's toned right down. But when I go see my parents it comes back almost immediately lol.

Jamie Reid no exactly what you mean my great grandad Patrick still had his accent despite 40+ years in Australia but I blame that on a few things a) he was 30 when he arrived and b) most of his social circle including his in laws and friends were fellow Irish migrants and he also had my great granduncle here too so when most of the people you are around speak with similar accent to you , you retain it I guess ! . I’ve noticed this though with both Irish and Scottish actors and actresses when they are interviewed by fellow countrymen their accent is thicker and stronger when interviewed by other journalists etc not so much.

Cillian thinks he's boring since he's obviously an introvert but I'd listen to whatever he'll say and watch him do the most ordinary of things. Cillian is just the type of person you'd want to give your care and attention to just because he doesn't ask much of it and focuses on what he's good at, his work. The film of the young Cillian discussing music is interesting. Even today, Cillian does not enjoy being interviewed. When he was interviewed as a young man, he was clearly a music nerd who talked incessantly about things that would only be of interest to other music nerds. The reporter, however, was not about to stop the boring interview because he was so beautiful to look at. Fortunately, he has gotten better at interviews since then.
God, he just seems like the coolest guy ever. So talented but at the end of the day, such a humble, down to earth man. He’s not in it to be rich and famous, he’s in it because he truly loves acting and he puts his heart and soul into his parts. How has he not won an Oscar/Emmy/Golden Globe yet??
