Can you just explain me how to calculate the staffing requirements for a 100 or 500 bedded hospital according to one of these recommendations , if this question comes in exam?
Mam I understand all about the recommendations but when it comes to calculate the staffing requirements I am totally confused please help me regarding this
Calculating staff requirements is not completely based on the staffing norms alone. It depends on the skill mix of the staff, type of patients admitted, the type of shifts staffs undertake etc. It may be difficult to explain it in a reply; Maybe I shall post it as a video after few weeks (due to my hectic schedule). But sure, I will post a video on this. I hope it will help you.

Is there any recent modifications in above mentioned norms? Or is there any other recent norms for staffing???
Thank you Mr.Binu for your interest in the video on staffing norms. In India, the most recent staffing norm is given by NABH in the year 2005. There is no other recent modification found related to staffing Norms by the Nursing council. There are various International nurse staffing norms given by British Association of Critical Care nurses, Critical Care networks nurse leads, Royal College of Nursing, UK in 2009 (BACCN, CCNN, RCN, & inflight forum), Canada MIS (Management Information System) Database during 2014-15 etc.

Hi Jyoti....it is just an estimation based on the SIU recommendations. It is not always 1 DNS for 7.5 ANS. For example if there are 15 ANS then there is a need only for 2 DNS. Always an estimation is given for 1.....But as the number of post increases the estimation would have greater meaning. As you said, if there are say 7 ANS or even 8 ANS one DNS has to be appointed as per norms.
