The definitive documentary on legendary metal icon Ronnie James Dio comes to movie theatres around the world for a two-day-only film event. Ronnie James Dio's story transcends the standard rock documentary. Beautifully highlighting both his powerful voice and his gentle heart, “DIO: Dreamers Never Die” delves deep into the singer’s incredible rise from ’50s doo-wop crooner to his early rock days in Elf and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, to replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, and finally cementing his rockstar status with his own band, DIO. The first documentary to be authorized by the artist’s estate, the film incorporates never-before-seen footage and personal photos from Dio’s archives as well as offering intimate scenes with his closest peers, family, and friends, among them Wendy Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinny Appice, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Trunk and Jack Black, as they bring viewers inside the life of one of the most beloved figures in rock.
In addition to the feature-length film, this special event will also include a hand-picked selection of outtakes from the cutting room floor, creating an experience that is exclusive only to fans in attendance.

@@richardcole1280 First met him in Sydney in Nov 76 (with Rainbow). When he returned in Sabbath in Nov 80, I'd done a long one-on-one interview with him (as an independent writer with no publication support). We bonded. He treated me as a friend and fellow traveller, recognising our connection long before I did. After that, any time he was In Sydney or I was in L.A., he always made time for me, even though I was no longer a journalist, so it was never about what I could do for him. Sound City in March 84 (rehearsing for the Last In Line recordings) & the Record Plant in May 87 (final mixing of Dream Evil) as his guest, two of the best memories of my life. Last time we spoke face-to-face was after the 2007 Heaven+Hell show in Auckland NZ (where I've lived since 2000). He was 65 and had just kicked the ass of every 30 year old in the building! 15 years ago last month. Cannot believe it's been that long. I am forever grateful that I have his recordings, especially Strange Highways & Devil You Know.

Got to meet many rock stars personally, most of them very kind with fans, but Ronnie was far THE best of them all. Never seen such kindness with fans like him. Besides to be best singer ever he was also a true gentleman with everyone who came to him for an autograph or a photo or just to say hello and shake his hand. Greatly missed.
So true! I was very fortunate to meet him outside from a signing.. me and my friend were late and it ended.. but there was Ronnie walking through the parking lot with 2 huge security men! We went up to shake his hand. At first security was apprehensive, but Ronnie said we were cool! We talked for a while, I even gave him a hug and thanked him for doing what he does. He signed my Dehuminizer cd ( I still got it!) it was so awesome meeting a god of metal, my all time favorite singer! RIP DIO, you are FOREVER! 😎🤘

I cry, I never thought his passing would hit me like this. But not a few months go by where I do not seek out his music and it makes me cry every time.
Dio saved my life many times over the years. I will forever love this man.
Right where I am. I wonder just how many people made it through because they had Dio. I wonder if he realized how many lives he saved with his music. Dio was my shield against mediocrity, normalcy, complacency, and despair. When there was nothing else in my life, Dio was there. I never got to see him live, something I will regret for the rest of my days.
@@shankthebat8654 His voice & music has been important to me since Rainbow, then Dio, Sabbath/Heaven & Hell. I met him after a concert in London and he autographed my "Last in Line" CD cover. Just to let you know it was clear he loved his fans and he cared a lot about pleasing his fans with his music.
Same here. I was in a bad place mentally and needed to make a decision with my life. Stand Up and Shout came through my car radio and it just gave me the confidence and sense of security about myself to make that decision. Now I look back at that decision and it was a friggin joke. It was not as bad as I thought it would be.

Epic!!! I was 14 years old. I grew up, became and airline pilot, then a criminal defense attorney, now I drive my Lambo Huracan to the office and this song is on my Spotify "Lambo tunes" playlist........the guitar solo by Vivian Cambell is incendiary....his best work by far.

Ronnie James Dio was one of the greatest artists that walked this earth, a true king of metal...The world is not the same without him.
An interesting story (i'm watching the docco as I type): he starts as this Italian American kid from upstate New York, who played trumpet for years before becoming a singer (he credits his voice to the trumpet practice teaching him breathing techniques)--the traffic accident that killed their band's guitarist, then meeting his heroes from deep purple...interesting guy.
The genre he created: he commented to Blackmore that 'other' heavy metal bands were 'blues based' but he and Ritchie wanted to make their metal based on 'classical music'. An interesting POV.
I miss him. Was brutal on me when he died
It just makes one wish he was still here to see how much his music is loved and still loved even a decade after his passing.

As I grew up in a foster home , that was not exactly a loving home, music helped me through some ruff years and gave me a sort of inner strength to persevere. And one of the musicians was RJD. Thank you Ronnie for helping alot of us who grew up on your music. We're the last in...We're the last in...We're the last in...We're the first in line!

I have seen so many great singers in Rock, but seeing Ronnie James Dio live on the Holy Diver and Killing the Dragon Tour , the one word I can describe Ronnie live it was magically, I was 3 rows center stage back from the Killing the Dragon Tour, it was a strong lineup Motorhead Iron Maiden, but Ronnie was not the biggest individual but his voice was so powerful he had us in the palm of his hands, it's shameful that is he is not the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but Ronnie could not give a shit if he was or not he was about the fans, I look forward to his movie, funny the Last in Line song can be applied today with the lost generation of kids we see in current world
He was a legend! Saw him on the Dream Evil tour the first time. That show was epic, with a giant spider and the dragon fighting it out with lasers! Saw him on one of his mid 90's tours, then also the Killing The Dragon tour. I was there to see him over Maiden's reunion tour but that, and Motorhead were a bonus for sure. One of my dream concerts came true when he did the Heaven And Hell tour. Saw it twice, once with Priest, can't remember the other opener the 2nd time. He blew me away every time, but that Dream Evil one at Maple Leaf Gardens I still tak about to this day, as the laser fight was so wild, once the dragon killed the spider, they turned all the lights on to see the crowds reaction. Everyone was breathless! But even the later strippped down shows were a wonder to behold!
@Mark_Metal Ya, I'm very fortunate to have grown up when I did. My first concert was Iron Maiden's World Slavery tour I've seen pretty much every metal act I've wanted to see. I reallly liked Saxon in my teens and had a couple of their albums and cassettes. After losing track of them in the 90's, I rediscovered them around '98 on a complation CD with 2 songs by 4 bands. Started to search out their entire discography and, after 2 attempts to see them, finally got to in 2011. They have become my favorite band and I've become obseessed with them, having seen them 6 times on every tour since 2011.Glad the old guard are still around and putting out really great stuff! Priest too. Saw them on the Turbo tour and probably 6 times since reuniting!

I finally got to see Ronnie live in 2007, after my cousin offered me an extra ticket to Black Sabbath. I knew it wasn't Ozzy fronting, but didn't find out until the last minute , to my pleasant surprise,it was Ronnie! Down and Megadeth warmed up, and what a great show!🤘🔥 🐉

I saw them in 86 I believe (Philadelphia Spectrum) back when Vivian Campbell was a shred master. And then later I saw Dio in Heaven and Hell.

I saw them on the same tour, they called themselves Heaven and Hell, thanks to Sharon Osbourne. Megadeth opened followed by Heaven and Hell , Judas Priest closed the show. Heaven and Hell wiped the floor with Priest that particular night...
Just got done seeing this documentary on showtime and I am crying. Born in Pakistan but growing up on metal I never had a chance to see a metal concert until I saw Black Sabbath and Ronnie on the Dehumanizer tour on trip to Chicago. I was in shock and disbelief at seeing my heros before me! lost my voice for 3 days and massively stiff neck from head-banging through the concert. Rest in Peace Maestro!
I had the honor to meet Ronnie back in 1997 he was touring in reading pa at a small club it was the angry machine's tour me and buddy were the first ones to meet him he was so down to earth we talked for 15mins. R.i.p. ronnie.
Same here but in '94 at Tremors club in Killeen, Tx. We are both short men, so I got to see eye to eye with one of the nicest Stars on the planet. R.I.P

I cannot wait to see this! I've never met Ronnie but I do know several people who have and by all accounts, Ronnie is the most friendly, down to earth guy you would ever want to run into. He would ask about your families for crying out loud! RIP Ronnie. Great music and an even better human being.

Ronnie was one of the top voices in rock (specially young Ronnie - Rainbow days)
"Dreamers Never Die" You can almost hear him singing that great line in a chorus, perhaps it's just ours to sing for him now after all he sang so many inspiiational great lines for us that kept us strong. I remember the first time I heard his voice I was 14 years old it was 1981 I was sitting around a huge bomb fire and the song Heaven & Hell came on I was totally blown away by his voice and the song. No one sings like you Ronnie James DIO. Can't wait to see the Dreamers Never Die Documentary. \m/ DIO \m/

Ronnie was an Angel. Quite the opposite of a demon in reality. Although don't we all have a bit of the devil in us, the darkness, I believe they refer to that as the Shadow being. Good on Ronnie for helping souls to see it and acknowledge it's presence.

RJD was awesome and extremely missed. My first metal concert ever, last in line tour 1984. Dokken opened and got booed off, which sucked because they sounded good. RIP RJD 🤘
I saw Dio on that tour as well, in Santa Barbara. I was 14.
I saw that tour in Rosemont, IL. Dokken made it through. A great show for both bands that night. I was 15.
Same tour, El Paso, Texas. New Year's Eve. Dokken was just tolerated....
Ronnie was my first live concert. This was in Market Square Arena (no longer there) in Indy in 1985. It was Armored Saint, Dokken and Dio was the headliner. What I remember most about that day was of course the shows, but before we even got into the arena, while waiting in line at one of the doors, the atmosphere was insane. When someone would finish off a bottle, they would place it on the overhang above the doors and the place went nuts each time. By the time the doors opened, there must have been a thousand bottles of beer, liquor, wine, you name it. We also smoked a joint just standing there. I had as good of time before the show than in it. But that's what the metal heads did. It was all about carrying the flag. That summer I saw a concert a week. Ozzy, Motley Crue, the list was long and was one legend after another

Dio is the greatest VOICE of heavy metal,I had all his albums including this cassette I had a t shirt of hands (1984)but unfortunately my dad had issues with all of it.Can’t wait to see the movie ,this old grandpa will surely enjoy, I hope “Temple of the King “is in there .RIP Ronnie your fans still love and miss you
Don Coscarelli is the pound-for-pound greatest low budget filmmaker of all time. The funding that John Carpenter had for his movies was wet dream material for Coscarelli, but he was able to produce great work anyway. I was Today Years Old when I learned that he directed Dio’s “Last In Line” video, and of course that makes perfect sense…that video is fantastic.
I was talking to a friend a while ago, that I wanted to do a video or something on Dio. I cannot wait to see this. Always loved Dio. And there's just something about "Last in Line". It's one of my favorite tracks of all time.
Y'all imagine being 17 when this album was released. Cruising in a midnight black 1969 Nova SS, with Last in line blasting through 4 equalized Alpine 6x9's. It's Summer time. Friday night, headed to see Ronnie James Dio live in concert... Well, that was me!
Just got in from seeing it in Simpsonville, SC. Great documentary. Audience applauded at the end. Dio fans will dig it.
I am thrilled to this day that I got to see (my) Black Sabbath on March 18th, 2007. We were all in a state of AWE! We talked about it for days!! On the day of his ascension, I cried. I assembled my "crew" and we then celebrated "The Metal King" all nite...it just went on and on, on and on HEAVEN & HELL! The BEST. \m/
When I consider the human species in servitude to inanimate objects other people control, I think the song Heaven and Hell is incredibly accurate, and it goes on and on and on, after we're gone, Heaven and Hell. Giveth and Taketh.
Murray Krugman was one-half of a dynamic duo (with Sandy Pearlman) that helped shape the sound of the Seventies, twirling knobs for both Blue Öyster Cult and (PKM fave) the Dictators. Krugman, unlike Pearlman, stayed mostly in the background, giving few interviews and letting the music and band members speak for themselves. Perhaps this is Murray of Dio fame

Few albums are perfect from start to finish but almost all of Dio's are just that. Got Last in Line when I was a teenager and it was life changing. 🤘🏼😎

I never even knew this. Phantasm is MY FAVOURITE FILM OF ALL TIME. (I know that may seem like a weird choice, but I have watched that film so many times, I don't know how many times I've watched it. )

The Last in Line was the 3rd piece of recorded music I ever bought; and I played the shit out of that cassette! Big Dio fan since I was 12 years old. This looks cool!
I really loved Ronnie his music made me feel so energetic his voice was one of s kind when Last in Line came out in the 70's I had a friend was a artist he painted that album cover on my Jean jacket still have it until this day I treasure it very very small can't wear it any more but I preserved it with Vaseline still flawless.👍🤘🙂
I have loved Don Coscarelli's Phantasm Philms for years, it's my favorite horror movie of all time, and I've been wanting to read his books really bad, but I never knew that he directed a video for Ronnie James Dio, and especially The Last In Line one, Don Coscarelli really doesn't get all the recognition he deserves. Then you have Dio, definitely in my top 5 favorite music to listen too, I can turn on his music and never get tired of listening to it, but to know that these two guys came together to make an epic video, I would have geeked out just being in the same room as these guys while there creative minds were rolling with ideas. I hope so bad that this bio-pic comes to my theaters, I want to see this so bad, I normally don't see these type of films in theaters, I'd rather see it at home, but I would spend whatever I have to, to see this one! RIP: DIO, RIP: ANGUS SCRIMM!

About time somebody made a cinema film of this legend. Seen him with Sabbath a.k.a H&H back in 2007, even though i am a huge Ozzy-era fan and not that much into fantasy, his live vocalrange at age 65 was jaw dropping.
So glad to see RJD several times, then take my daughters to a H&H show as well. Pure rock power and energy all night.....so great.

Someone said back in 1972, Ronnie's voice started to what we know it as today. Any documentary should tell you how the VOICE came to be at that time. That would interest all his fans for sure.

I was in the U.S. Navy during the 80's I would listen to him withb Sabbath and Dio with my headphones while going to sleep it would wake up the whole berthing compartment. I guess that's why I'm a little deaf now lol.

I have to say Viv Campbells guitar work on Last in Line is phenomenal.
I love Ronnie James Dio, but his best (my personal opinion) is when he was the front man for RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH, with those two leviathan monsters bands, he elevated himself to one of the most iconic and most potent hard rock'n'roll/heavy metal singers on the planet ............ he may be gone, but the legacy left of his talent will shine forever "like a rainbow in the dark".
