It was actually a good idea on Stanford's part to say he knew the equation. He probably thought the ritual was the only way to defeat bill at the time and knew bill would probably destroy him if he didn't look useful. It would be painful, but it would have been perfect if Stanley wasn't anger by Stanford.
That twist is an essential part of writing. A central but subtle plot of the entire show was the egoism and self-absorbtion of all important characters, and their own fight with them, at least for the Pines family. Every time one overcame their ego, something good happened, and vice versa. Stan's betrayal and bickering is a major plot point that illustrates both him and his brother never overcoming own ego

@@azzydreamurr5677 Dimentio couldn't really control *everything,* even as Super Dimentio he merely had control over the Void, and claimed he would create new worlds after destroying them.
He'd never reach Outerversal. Outerversal means to transcend dimensionality itself. And the Gravity Falls verse doesn't have qualitative dimensionality as 2d planes can harm 3d stanford and 11d aliens die in a 3d spave crash. So these higher/lower dimensions aren't infinitely superior/inferior to 3D. Thus, Bill can never be more than 3D.
i bet the second dimension is really uncomfortable especialy when you become aware of the third dimension and realize the freedoms you don't get to enjoy. Not to mension it wouldn't be aestheticly pleasing to look at. i can't imagine what the first dimension would be like.
Take a laser pointer and point at the wall the point you see from a 3D perspective is placed on a 2 dimensional plain and shows you a 1 dimensional life forms perspective which is 0D point a single point that gets brighter when you get close to your line segment comrade and dimmer as you move in the opposite direction from which you came
Just imagine if everyone left gravity falls on the spot, no defeating Bill just like getting out of there he cant follow us anyway. And then Bill and his weirdmagedon is trapped inside the barrier with no chance to leave forever. Stan probably finds a way to turn it into a tourist atraction with helicopter flights and stuff
Resurrecting a thread, but... anyone would go to this tourist trap, why? What I honestly imagine is if Ford and Stan WEREN'T able to pull off that trick, Bill would've just killed every last person infront of him, and just torment him for the rest of his days until he finally got him to talk. Either way, Ford's a mortal, so there's only so much Bill would be able to do to get him to talk..
this was too good but I still can't get over how the line at 0:51 "but I wasn't always this way" It sounds like the most expositiony phrase he could have said to segway into a backstory. "I HAVE THE POWER TO WARP REALITY ITSELF!!! "Here's some backstory btw"
@@mallk238 ikr, it would’ve been nice if they made a backstory for Bill. I have so many questions like. Did Bill have a family?? Why did Bill became evil?? Was his family abusive?? (frankly yeah I think it is understandable that he'd go nuts if that was the place he grew up in lol)
@@eliteknight2137 two reasons: 1) bill did get permission to enter stan's mind. It was from Gideon! Demon laws aren't too picky about who lets them do what...the point is more gaining permission to interact with our world rather than an individual person. Think of how Bill offered to help dipper if he gave him a puppet. Dipper didn't OWN any of the puppets, they were mabel's, but in giving his permission to let bill use A puppet, he could get away with whatever he needed to do! (shown when he uses the dipper sock puppet at the end of the episode to speak to the twins) *BASICALLY* Gideon gave bill permission to interact with our world, but ONLY if he did it to enter stan's mind, and ONLY to get information; and in exchange he would gain a favor from Gideon to be redeemed later 2) Ford got a metal plate in his head. It keeps bill out of his brain. I can't remember if that meant it keeps him out entirely or if it just means he has a stronger defense against bill...but the metal plate helps. Also Ford knows about bill and can fend him off, stan was asleep and defenseless because he didn't know about bill.
You know, Ford wouldn't have to go through Bill's torture of demanding to know his way out if he just lied and said 'no there's no equation' XDD I miss this show
"You think those chains are tight? Imagine living in the second dimension, flat minds in a flat world with flat dreams. I liberated my dimension, Stanford, and I'm here to liberate yours"
“And did you find a way to undo it?” “Luckily for us, I have not. Despite all my years of research, I have only found that Gravity Falls’s natural law of weirdness magnetism is completely infallible to any and all tampering, hence it being a law. It seems we are stuck here for good.” “….oh.” [Credits roll]
Then, in that instant Bill realize the Stanford is no longer of use and simply kill him, and BECAUSE OF THAT, they cannot make the zodiac to defeat him, nor they cannot make him enter Stanley's mind to erase him for good.
On the one hand, I trust we all face palmed when Ford told Bill that he knew a way to collapse the barrier of gravity falls’ natural law of weirdness magnetism. One could easily chalk it up to Ford’s ego causing him to say/do things without _really_ thinking. But on the other hand, this could be Ford’s way of making sure Bill’s attention remains on him for as long as possible so he doesn’t go hunting down his family. also I will never not be very very slightly miffed at the fact the piano keys are inaccurate.
If Stanford lied to Bill, he just murders him, and BECAUSE OF THAT they couldn't made the zodiac to defeat Bill, and besides they cannot erase him in the head of Stanley's mind, BECAUSE at this point he is *NOT* going to take the risk in entering anyone's mind because he already slay Stanford.
I honestly don't think Bill's insane. And that just makes him scarier. He's completely sane and it couldn't be more obvious. Edit: Basically I'm saying he's a psychopath since he's completely sane and fully aware of reality. Or lack thereof.
He watches from the darkened shadows, He makes dimensions burn, Billions of years he has been waiting, for the tides to turn The rift has been broken ,and the monster has been released, Time is dead, meaning has no meaning All hail the one-eyed beast!
I love how he often refers to Stanford (or Ford for short) as “kid”, because although Ford is an old man, Bill has lived for lifetimes upon lifetimes in comparison to him.
You're right, if you think about it, it would be very strange that something so important that Standford remember at heart would be recorded "ANYHOW* in the Journals. I mean, The equation would be written in the Journals in the form of a code or something like that, Stanford could have hidden the Equation in the Journals with a code that he ONLY knew, but IT WOULD BE WRITTEN IN THE JOURNALS.

Dimentio couldn't really control *everything,* even as Super Dimentio he merely had control over the Void, and claimed he would create new worlds after destroying them.
Not to mension it wouldn't be aestheticly pleasing to look at. i can't imagine what the first dimension would be like.
neffdigity dog
EVERYTHING IS A FUCKING DOT THE THIRD DIMENSION IS SO BETTER
Take a laser pointer and point at the wall the point you see from a 3D perspective is placed on a 2 dimensional plain and shows you a 1 dimensional life forms perspective which is 0D point a single point that gets brighter when you get close to your line segment comrade and dimmer as you move in the opposite direction from which you came
@@thesovietflaganthemguy2344 Ever heard of punctuation?

Bill can haunt dreams
He'd find ways to haunt people
Honestly i adored whenever these two talked, there arguments and understanding of one another was always so good
"THINK, BILL, THINK! You can't enter my mind unless I shake your hand!!"
As grim as this scene is, I laughed at 0:53 when poor Ford fell on his face. That was a straight Family Guy landing.
He drawed a smily face on North America
i got smished by bills finger. god dammit.
Eclipse Chan lol that sounds wrong
He Didn't destroy Michigan I'm still safe
Unholy Flame+ That has to be added to the globe, lol.
He didn’t get West Virginia I’m safe too

I think.
Santenoturtle so his home is hell then? Hmm makes sense

this was too good but I still can't get over how the line at 0:51 "but I wasn't always this way"
It sounds like the most expositiony phrase he could have said to segway into a backstory.
"I HAVE THE POWER TO WARP REALITY ITSELF!!!
"Here's some backstory btw"
@@lydiarodriguez1255 Its been two years since this comment and I'm still low key mad we never got bills backstory
@@mallk238 ikr, it would’ve been nice if they made a backstory for Bill. I have so many questions like. Did Bill have a family?? Why did Bill became evil?? Was his family abusive?? How did Bill gain his powers?? How did he meet his friends?? And lastly, what was his world like?? I know his dimension is literally a flat world but it makes me wonder how it looks like.
@@ftumusiclover1239 bill's world that he comes from is based on a book called "Flatland" by edwin abott.I know they never get into his story in the show, but if you're interested in what his world was like, that's a book to read to give you an idea!
(frankly yeah I think it is understandable that he'd go nuts if that was the place he grew up in lol)
I don't understand when ford say that he must let bill in his mind but previously he didn't need permission to go into stan's mind
@@eliteknight2137 two reasons:
1) bill did get permission to enter stan's mind. (shown when he uses the dipper sock puppet at the end of the episode to speak to the twins)
*BASICALLY* Gideon gave bill permission to interact with our world, but ONLY if he did it to enter stan's mind, and ONLY to get information; and in exchange he would gain a favor from Gideon to be redeemed later
2) Ford got a metal plate in his head. It keeps bill out of his brain. I can't remember if that meant it keeps him out entirely or if it just means he has a stronger defense against bill...but the metal plate helps. Also Ford knows about bill and can fend him off, stan was asleep and defenseless because he didn't know about bill.

2:12 "You know the rules and so do i"

You know, Ford wouldn't have to go through Bill's torture of demanding to know his way out if he just lied and said 'no there's no equation' XDD I miss this show
welp. if he said that he would be killed off or turned back to gold
Eclipse Chan lol well it's better than being chain and get electrocuted afterwards XD either way, I love this show
Gala Toots no its worse than that.
Ford said this because he was a scientist in the first place. He just couldn't say other way.
If he said that he would’ve been killed or turned into gold again
By any chance that equation is 6.18/0?
Why do you say that?? What does 6.18/0 mean??
its means he is dividing by zero. Makes sense for bill. 618 is hidden throughout the show as a nod to Alex Hirshes birthday
Invader Zim yup
Invader Zim maybe
I don’t get it-
"You think those chains are tight? Imagine living in the second dimension, flat minds in a flat world with flat dreams. I liberated my dimension, Stanford, and I'm here to liberate yours"
“And did you find a way to undo it?”
“Luckily for us, I have not. Despite all my years of research, I have only found that Gravity Falls’s natural law of weirdness magnetism is completely infallible to any and all tampering, hence it being a law. It seems we are stuck here for good.”
“….oh.”

R.I.P Ford
Then, in that instant Bill realize the Stanford is no longer of use and simply kill him, and BECAUSE OF THAT, they cannot make the zodiac to defeat him, nor they cannot make him enter Stanley's mind to erase him for good.

WE'RE HERE BITCHES.
Oh no the shippers everybody run before we get BillFord
I'M HERE
On the one hand, I trust we all face palmed when Ford told Bill that he knew a way to collapse the barrier of gravity falls’ natural law of weirdness magnetism.
0:54 that look and tone he uses. Me every time I have to talk with my friends about _upcoming Middle School classes_
I honestly don't think Bill's insane. And that just makes him scarier.
He's completely sane and it couldn't be more obvious.
Edit: Basically I'm saying he's a psychopath since he's completely sane and fully aware of reality. Or lack thereof.

If bill didn’t destroy the journals the equation is probably in there
You're right, if you think about it, it would be very strange that something so important that Standford remember at heart would be recorded "ANYHOW* in the Journals.
I mean, The equation would be written in the Journals in the form of a code or something like that, Stanford could have hidden the Equation in the Journals with a code that he ONLY knew, but IT WOULD BE WRITTEN IN THE JOURNALS.

one detail i love is that when we see ford after this his sideburns are shorter and scruffier, implying bill tortured him to the point they were singed off. obviously they can’t show him being tortured because this is a kids’ show, but i’m glad they found workarounds to at least hint at how serious things got during weirdmageddon and how cruel bill can be
