    I've had tinnitus since I was a young teenager, around the time my mental health problems started (high anxiety, stress, depression, etc) I'm 23 now. I've been able to largely recover from my mental health issues (I had visual snow at my worse time too, which has since went away) and definitely noticed my tinnitus becoming almost undetectable, unless I tuned in to it. I could sleep with it there. Recently I've had a huge stress and anxiety spike which has led me to hyperfocus on the ringing and see it as a threat again, it sucks :(
    I'm a bit sceptical of the idea that it can go away completely, all I've ever heard is that it is permanent of course, but I'm going to start to follow your advice and hope for the best. If anything, it will help reduce the fear response that has come back in full force for me. Thanks for posting all this information ☺️

    Got your book and downloaded the app in the last few days. Upped my massage twice a week for extra cranial sacral work. My Eustachian tubes haven’t been equalized in almost a year which makes me wonder if it brought on the new tinnitus in the last couple months. Original tinnitus I’ve had for 8 years and just lived with. I have new perspective now and feeling hopeful.

      So sorry to hear about this. Please find a good hands-on practitioner to work on your ears face and your area on a weekly basis. Ideally you could find a Craniosacral Therapist has done the shock and trauma training. Failing that any experienced bodyworker should be able to feel how your system is coping under their hands and help release you. Remember you need to learn to shift the focus out of your head into the body, and calm the nervous system down. On my app please practice the evening face massage and a boat mast meditation which you can find on level one techniques and level four for techniques respectively. You can download the app here: www.quietenapp.com if you'd like to have a session to talk things through in detail I can give you a lot of reassurance and guidance as to what techniques and approaches may help you. Rest assured that I have worked with people who have damaged their hearing who have gone on to make a very good recovery.

    I am so much better, I almost only hear my T at night now. (It's been a little over 1.5years) but I can't see it as a healthometer yet, as I can't find a link between what I eat/do and spikes.
    Yesterday I went on a run and had relatively loud "static" afterwards. I normally don't get this from excersise, but I did a harder run than I normally do. Maybe I strained too much? While other times I can have a weekend with wine, beer, chocolate, etc and no spike at all. It's difficult as of yet to see any connections..

    Hello Julian , is there any proof of a link between salicylate in food and increasing tinnitus ? Thanks in advance

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ask Liam Boehm. I find having a healthy diet and not too much salt is about as far as I want to go with this. It is possible to make a really good recovery without changing your diet too much. I find it best to not get too anxious about foods and instead to really enjoy eating and relaxing and enjoying the pleasurable calming qualities of mealtimes. With many people symptoms go away when they catch up with friends have a good meal. That says a lot about the nervous system.

    Hello, I've got a question. I don't struggle with tinnitus per se, I rarely hear any sounds (and if I do, it doesn't bother me very much). However, since 2015 I have a constant feeling of "fullness" and physical discomfort inside my ears, as if there was an object inside that I can't ever get rid of (this feeling is stronger in the right ear). And I feel like my head is heavy, heavier than it should be, both the head and the ears are "muddy". I feel like it drains a lot of my life energy, I suppose it even affects the muscles of my face - when I have an especially bad day, I feel like my face is hardened and "petrified", I find it hard to smile and I look unnatural. My face is as if I've seen something repugnant or stinky.
    Once again: the sounds don't bother me. It's a feeling of physical discomfort - my ears have lost their lightness, they can't breathe fresh air, if you know what I mean. Can this app help me in my situation, or does it refer purely to the reducing of the sound? Thank you in advance and for all your work towards tinnitus community, Julian.
