    It's a good solution for small venue monitoring. I play pubs and clubs and use the powered Kabinet to hear myself, while sending the Kemper main outs to the PA. I use V30 imprints because they are the speakers the profiles I use were created with, and it most closely matches the sound to the PA. I used to use a 2x12 with my powered Kemper and though it sounded great, it sounded... different, of course.
    One thing you have to do to get a decent volume however is to boost the output signal in the Kemper's Output menu, and run the Kabinet flat out, controlling the volume using the master volume on the Kemper only.

    I like that Ola really has a solid taste for heavy gain tones. Most reviews don't really spend a lot of time exploring the subtle differences in heavy metal gain tones and most of these profiles all sound good but they do sound different

      Not disagreeing with you just sharing my experience with the Kemper ;
      Got it (used great price), overwhelmed at first for a few days, and even though I was happy with it I was still missing something…
      …then I randomly found a killer profile that was exactly what I wanted. It made me laugh because it was better than I expected. Since finding that profile, I learned a bit more and programmed a few things the way I want, but now for the most part… I just play. It’s that good for me. I change sounds sometimes but generally I just fire it up and jam away.
      I was worried it would be just something to constantly fiddle with but after setting it up with a couple good sounds, I am happy with it as is and can just play. I set some fantastic bass guitar tones on it too.
      Love this thing.

      @@sb6232 - a big bonus for me too was the fact they added the double tracker and it’s actually well designed. My real guitar rig is a stereo setup that I use a TC Mimiq on sometimes for that wide amazing recorded album sound, and when the Kemper added it it was a huge bonus for me. Now I take profiles I love, and even though they are good as is, I add the double tracker into an FX slot and it completely changes the tone (usually in a good way to my ears).
      An example would be : jamming on a classic fender deluxe profile sounds great… but having that subtle double tracking so it sounds like a record is next level to my ears.
      I honestly have a lot of thanks for Kemper - it is a blessing for guitarists and bassists.

      I spent the first year exploring every nook and cranny. Downloaded thousands of rigs, spent a couple hundred bucks over that year too. As much as it pains me to admit it, but most of the ones you pay for are levels above all the free shit (although there's some bitchin free profiles for free) I have 9 different guitars. I made a performance for each guitar and every genre that I'd ever want to play with that guitar. I utilize all 5 channels and morphs on each performance, I have every pedal in the exact place that sounds best with each guitar, and BOOM! I get the hankering to play some funk on my strat, open the performace. If I wanna play some blues/rock on my tele, metal on my les paul, jazz on my 335, etc...I have performances that take 5 seconds to find and load up. I haven't fiddled with it in the past year because I've mastered the fucking thing :)

    I finally got a Kemper and I’m so happy how much updating has been done to it. I got it because I was happy with the overall concept and sound of it, but the fact they added a well designed Double Tracker, as well as tons of other awesome FX like good wah’s, makes it even better than I had hoped.
    Not the easiest to program, not perfect, but man is this thing amazing. Feels great too which is the surprising part.

      It wasn't as mid-heavy for some reason. Had more highs, it seemed like. I wasn't expecting anything like that. I was just trying to swap out jacks. So I figured the only option at this point was to put the old jack back in and see if it went back to sounding like it did prior to the swap. It did.
      Had I been one that records at home, all I would've had to do was pull up an old file and compare it to a new recording and see if they were different. B/c it's quite possible that nothing at all changed and it was all in my head.

The whole imprint thing is to give the Kemper user that amp in the room sound and feel, that's why they made it. problem is they should have done at least a 2X12 cab for that imo, with the option to go to a 4X12 Cab. They may in the future, who knows? Personally I run my Kemper into Mesa Dual Rectifier roadster. KEMPER Monitor Out---->Effects Return on the Mesa Dual Rectifier---->(and turn off the cab block on the Kemper) Then into your 4X12 or 2X12 cab of choice, in my case my Mesa 4X12 loaded with V30s. • @LXHC
      @LXHC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you got this perfectly right ;-) and that's why these kinds of "tests" don't make a lot of sense. It all comes back to a basic misunderstanding of what profiling systems do (avoiding calling them "amps" on purpose). They don't mimic amps but the whole signal chain, including the speaker and the mic (and its position) and the console or interface the mic is plugged into. To keep the speaker out of the equation you'd have to capture a so called direct profile, which grabs the signal from a load box directly after the amp

      You can turn off the base one as well as switch it, it's not set to just that sound from the speaker as it counts them as separate things on the profile. Will it be a 1:1, usually no, but there are many variables to this. People forget there's also DI profiles of just Heads, same as profiles of plug-ins, it's simple if you have a Kemper on hand.

    Hi there, sorry for the newb question. Do you need to crank up the Kemper cab to make it sound good, like you would with a Marshall, or does volume make no difference with a Kemper and kab? Thanks

      I think it's a better idea to use an $1800 dollar piece of equipment more than once a decade. That's literally paying $2 dollars a day to let it sit in your closet.

    Well the miked cab sound much worse that what I've used to hear from my monitors. Definitely the soun in this video doesnt compliment kemper for high gain tones. The Colin Richardson pack sounds way better directly from my monitors.

    Satana!...he says. Yeah it looks cool and pro; lights and display... at a flashy 'pro' price too...I have spend just over a year with that stuff and plugins and multi-effects boards before that...As someone said, it is just fiddling galore and never a real playing session. It's all gone in the cupboard and out are the old boss pedals straight into a 100w head with some modulation in the loop....Here comes the tone! The hours of playing and also different guitars. As they say: horses for courses.....but, at times, too much choice simply creates confusion and it's an unnecessary waste of resources.
    Moi!

    They all sound kind of weird and phasey. Out of all the modelers I’ve ever tried, nothing comes anywhere near the tone/feel of the Fractal Audio stuff… especially into a power amp and guitar cab.

    • @jcout25
      @jcout25 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kemper isn't a modeler. It's a profiler. There are WICKED good profiles available for purchase and mediocre profiles available for free, and I don't even touch the ones it came with.

    Got a great eye for the good stuff. I recommend everyone who wants great Metal tones to check out the pack from Petr82 (Peter's Crazy Profiles). By far one of the best Kemper deals in my book! Love my Kemper for sure and I'm getting along great with the Kemper Kab.

    I moved on from kemper a while ago. I liked the product but the company is very slow with product updates and innovations, like it took them years to make a spring reverb. The forum is toxic too. tube amp and IRs are the way forward IMHO

    • @LiveFreeOrDie76
      @LiveFreeOrDie76 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only is the forum toxic, the employees treat their customers like they are bothered by them being there. People try to claim its because they are German, but as someone who lived there the average German wasn't a prick like the majority of Kemper Employees on the forum are to their userbase.
