I always loved the blend between two themes in this song, and they couldn't be more distinct. First you have a soaring epic homage to skybound pilots with the leather aviator hat and goggles... then at 2:45 it hits you with that buccaneer shanty type tune, suddenly conjuring up images of a pirate ship and roaming the seas... only for the epic flying part to take over again at 4:55. It frames the setting of skybound pirates perfectly.
Technically Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge is Crimson Skies 2, although it was very different gameplay-wise. Microsoft or whoever currently owns the IP really needs to consider making a new game. It already has tons of world building, in-universe lore, and a definitive style going for it. My ideal Crimson Skies game is an open world pirate game in the vein of games like Sea of Thieves and Assassins Creed: Black Flag, but you command blimps in search of fortune while engaging in air combat against enemy pirate factions, such as other pirate groups or local air forces. Maybe even online against other players. The Crimson Skies IP has tons of potential. Someone just needs to bring it back.
@@fizzisoda7113 tbh I’d follow the formula for Sid Meier’s Pirates more closely, at least for the role playing aspect. You could take on privateering or bounty missions from various states and countries, gain favour with governors and heads of state, romance and eventually marry, and collect buried treasure.
