I tried them next to the Sony IER-Z1R and after long listening I end up purchasing the Sony but these were not bad at all. Thanks for the detailed review.
A surprise for me is that some of these "endgame" iems eg 64 Audio U12t or headphones eg Hifiman Susvara are quite a few years old now but have not really been surpassed for many in their audio quality with a suitable dac/amp source. Is reverse engineering a thing of the past now? Nice review. Thanks.
The technical performance of the lcd 5, susvara, STAX X9000, and WA Bravura is approaching the limit of what a headphone driver is capable of. Their distortion characteristics are effectively below human threshold. Even a focal utopia has 10x the SNR of them.
And the hd600 has been around over 20 years. I think you're looking at this totally the wrong way. Stop expecting the best to get better and start expecting the best to get cheaper. We're already at the peak, now make it affordable. IEMs can't invent details that aren't in the track
I love my u12t, and these are absolutely my standard reference iem. My only complaint is the shell size, which is why the IE600 gets more listening time from me, due to the fact that I'm a side sleeper.
Great review, thanks! Not to overrate it but next to my wife, the cat and the Empire Ears Odin, the U12T would exit the proverbial burning building right before me. Time permitting, I might run back in to grab the MEST Mk II and a pair of shorts. 🙂
I think the U12t is something that's easier to appreciate once you've been through the earlier stages of the iem path. You like iems, as you say for their party trick but then you get to a point where you just want it all or most of it in a single iem and this is where the U12t comes in, amazing iem.
Yep my thoughts as well. There's a lot of products (not just IEMs) that immediately stand out in certain ways. And whilst many of them are still ones you will love and enjoy much later down the line (I still really want a pair of Symphonium Helios for example, they might have a party trick but damn it's a good one), many of them I find that impressiveness fades over time. Whereas the stuff that for me has had the most longevity has been the stuff that isn't trying to impress in a particular area. They're just doing a lot of stuff well.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s all about your frame of reference. You can hand someone who’s not really into audio reproduction a u12t and you’ll get a resounding “meh”, because they sound real. Just like every non audio sound you hear all day long. Hence why so many, especially cheaper IEMs, go for V shaped tunings and other tricks to make it sound like augmented reality. You aren’t going to fully appreciate them unless you’re actually properly into IEMs/home/car etc. audio. It’s really, really hard to make something that doesn’t add much color and reproduces everything properly. You won’t appreciate that when you hear it unless you have the proper frame of reference.
Coming from IER Z1R to U12T Immediately the BA timbre, that metallic sound caught my attention. Well there is a slight BA timbre too in the Z1R buy in the U12T it is brought up a notch. I will try experimenting with the Apex modules and some dampers maybe I can bring it down a bit. The timbre is mostly in the treble

most overrated iem I've ever tried
You're overrated
Interesting, which IEMs would you prefer in the price range?
@@AliArghavan U12t is the benchmark
@@AliArghavan I actually think the nio are better than u12t everyone talks about how they're the benchmark but I tried them at canjam and was left underwhelmed... especially the bass...i personally own the noble audio khan and they suit my taste perfectly
L.
So hear me out. My issue with these is not how much they cost or anything to do with the sound. It's the logo plastered on the sides.
I'm paying $2000 for this product. I don't need the logo there to remind me what the brand is.
It's a weird nit pick but it's something that makes it feel cheap, in my eyes. And this issue isn't exclusive to this IEM in particular. It applies to basically everything.
Yeah i feel 64 audio products don't look expensive, compared to other brands.
I'd much prefer the look of the U18s for example and that better cable that it comes with.
With a set costing 2k I don't think flying under the radar of the public is a bad thing. They feel quality not sure I'd want them to be bling 😁
@@ic2433 I don't mean bling. I just don't like logos all over my equipment. They're tacky.
@@even1313 I think the logo is removable though i remember someone posted a pic in discord where he used a bunch of stickers of the U12t and when he tried to pull them off the logo came off with it
Why does this nerdy guy talk so seriously
He's a good presenter. Well spoken and clear
2,000 US dollars is serious
It's called being English
Goldensound is brilliant.
$650. Yanyin x HBB Mahina. Endgame.

Regardless of today's content, I have a product that needs your opinion.
I'm thinking of purchasing Unique Melody Maven Pro, but I'd like to hear your honest opinion before purchasing.
