I watched this video yesterday four or five times. Then I went out this morning and bought the lumber and built it. The design could not be more simple. All my lumber is finally off the floor after four years. Thanks for sharing.

This is by far the best looking lumber rack that I have watched being built. Thanks for another great video Jon. Now I am going to start on my own rack.

I was searching TH-cam for ideas for a rack to help organize my shop and seen all types but this one looked the easiest to build so I took some measurements from your video and designed it to what works in my shop. I built it all from 3/4'' ply pieces that I had and it worked great, can't wait to get the other three built and on the wall, thanks for the idea

I really appreciate how intuitive some of this stuff is with your video. @9:23 it isn't what these measurements should be. It's what do these measurements need to accomplish. You look at it and you get what you need from looking at it. The ruler is just for a straight edge if you need it. :)

    Hello Mr. Peters,
I am very impressed with your knowledge and attention to detail. I just watched your video on the lumber racks. At the very end you show the drum sanders and talk about the paint accumulation in the grit. I use rubber belt cleaning sticks to unclog my sanders to get maximum life from the grit. I purchase them at the local lumber yard and tool shop (they may be gotten at a Home Building Center as well?). They are long, rectangular, and work like a pencil eraser.

The simplicity to this project is outstanding. I watched this presentation over a year ago & I stumbled across it again. I will give your beautiful wood rack design serious consideration in the near future as currently I'm finishing up a 8 ft. miter saw bench build...
Thank you, very well presented & an excellent piece of craftsmanship...:~)

Thanks for the inspiration! I used your design but used black walnut as the center for the verticals as well. They turned out gorgeous. My wife and friends have commented on how nice they look but kind of look at me funny when I tell them it is maple and black walnut. My shop is my relaxing place and I like things to look nice. Great design and crafting as usual. If you're going to really load that thing up, you might think about replacing the sheet rock screws with plain steel ones. Sheet rock screws can break without warning, since they're hardened steel. Or so I've been told.

It`s tempting to think all the weight on those arms is downwards .But most of the weight is pulling the whole thing away from the wall . So make sure those wall screws are strong. A vertical connection to the floor at the front is safer .

Jon thanks for the great videos. I see that your gallery is in Red Bank, is that where your shop is as well? Where do you go for your hardwood lumber? Also, where do you get your square-drive wood screws as I have a hard time finding any in smaller lengths at big box stores. I live in Jackson so I'm not far from you. Again, I appreciate the time you put into these videos, they are great.

Nothing like a little glue to make the first pieces slip around while you're trying to nail them in place.

I have a fair amount of MDF leftover from a project. Can somebody comment if this would work to build the rack out of?

When I do not want screws to collide, I just sink then diagnonally one way on one side and diagonally the other way on the other side.

You seem to have a lot of stuff hanging off the wall studs. Can you make sure you have the camera running when the wall caves in please? ;)

Has he misted the lightning crushing up his tree by 10 seconds last week. I wouldn't bet on it.

True, that would have been a fantastic explosion to catch on camera ... shame ... it probably would have gone viral.
