BTS changed the lyrics to make it more personal to them as the original is about the death of a loved one. I hope both versions can be appreciated and if you haven't heard the original I'll Be Missing You please go listen to it and be respectful as this song means a lot to people in the black community who have lost loved ones to violence.
And please know as well that the original song was made by Sting as tribute for his late father. So this version also sampled and changed the verses of Sting,s song
This song, 'Every breath you take' was 'The Police's big hit back in 1983 sung by lead singer Sting. Puffy's remix was amazing and truly heart felt by all for the loss of his dear friend. But I can sincerely say, without a doubt, our boys 'BTS, made it there own with the most beautiful vocals and emotion that overwhelmes the heart. So happy and proud being an older Army , to see BTS perform live singing this song so beautifully that I've loved for such a long time is truly unforgettable. Jimin hit some notes that only angels are capable of producing. All of them were simply amazing and this song brings back so many memories. Some good, others not so good but emotionally it's an amazing cover!

I'm sure they are going to criticized for doing it, but had they kept the original lyrics people would've said what do BTS know about losing a friend to violence. They made it more personal to them and the current situation. And RM did mention the original being in memory of the Notorious B.I.G. And I think they did a beautiful job and hopefully younger audiences will go listen to the original if they aren't aware of it.

Jimin and Jin's high notes were so beautiful, Jungkook's amazing voice as always, with his adlibs, V's low voice was very calming and his adlibs were everywhere, both in high and low. Hearing RM rap in English was mesmerizing; while Hobi and Suga rapping in Korean was very endearing.

Omg, I loved it. I was in middle school when the original came out and remember listening to it a lot. BTS did the song justice and did an amazing job. Love that Suga and J-Hope rapped in Korean and RM did English, but J-Hope's part with the Korean on top of the English was so good and the vocal line with all thoses high notes. This song is so beautiful and the lads vocals were amazing on this song and what really made me feel emotional was Jimins high notes as I could really feel what he was singing. This song hold a really deep meaning to my family as this song reminds us especially my dad of his brother who committed suicide a long time ago and this song was played at his funeral so whenever I hear it I cry.
Park Jimin’s vocals is beautiful and incredible! The emotions is felt and it’s so touching to hear him sing. His high notes slayed throughout.
