I'm planning to retire at 59 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life and good healthcare. I could fully just rely on only my SS if I wanted to when that times arrives but l'll also have at least one pension, a 403 (b) and a very prolific Investment account with my Stephanie Stiefel my FA. Retiring comfortably in the US these days is almost impossible

@gagelong3366 um no. That's the term "family separation." His last term, Trump deported the one parent, 99% the bread winner of the family, who was here illegally. Undocumented, is a false word, because many immigrants have tax ID numbers and file tax returns, but just cannot get any money back until they become a citizen. How is ending birthright citizens being nasty. I don't know what Rick this guy has been under. But I've watched millions of dollars being allocated to illegal aliens in my community for years. Program upon program, set up specifically to assist them with everything. The school systems funded tutors for the children; they are placed right in the classrooms. Which is a distraction and slows down the learning process. Forty plus million came in unvetted and they need to go. Everyone is questioning where funding is going to come from to deport them. Well ... The same fund Biden used to expedite them in illegally.

My family came here legally. They can here before the the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, the first migration law. Most conservatives are too ignorant to learn from histroy. "In the mid-nineteenth century, many Americans began to feel threatened by an increase in immigration from China to the United States. Reasons for this included xenophobia, or dislike of foreigners, as well as more complex causes such as labor tensions and shifting national identities. Working-class Americans and European immigrants worried that Chinese immigrants would compete unfairly for their jobs by working for lower wages. Irish immigrant railroad laborers in particular found themselves in competition with Chinese workers, as both groups struggled at the lower end of the wage scale."

An overlooked problem that caused the exclusion act was that the immigrants for China at that time were from a different part of China than the area that the previous immigrant railway workers came from, and didn't mix well with the existing culture.
Also a significant number of the Chinese immigrants of that era were daughters of Chinese families sold to brokers who brought them to the US to sell for prostitution.
Instead of vetting them, the solution was to shut it down.

If a US-citizen artist working in, say, Nairobi gives birth there, the US considers her child her child a US citizen and she can apply at the nearest US embassy or consulate for a US State Department form certifying the child's birth as a citizen. That form, rather than the local birth certificate, will subsequently serve as the child's legal US birth certificate.

I think there needs to be a change to our “birthright citizenship”. There are people who come here specifically to have their children get US citizenship. A system more like that in the UK is probably what we need to adopt. For foreigners who give birth there, citizenship is given to the child only if the parents are “settled” at the time of birth. That means that they have permanent housing, and at least one parent is legally working (studying?) or has the “right to remain”. This makes far more sense than some of the birth tourism we currently have.

We have to remember that Federalist Society judges are activist judges and good Republicans, too. If they want to reinterpret the language -- calling it originalism -- they will do it if it fits their agenda and within their moral and ethical framework which isn't a very good one, to say the least. Look at what they did with presidential immunity. Further, there is a Southern flavor to the Federalist Society so there might be a larger reason to reinterpret the 14 Amendment to fit into their longer-term agenda like the Red States not providing education or vouchers for temporary resident workers or in the case of the Christian nationalist judge's values to deny citizenship to non-citizen US soldiers, their wives, and families to denying things like social security benefits to green card holders or habeas corpus protection. It was religious people and judges who went along with the Third Reich in the 1930s.

Aside from the possibility of trying to bring this issues to the Supreme Court’s adjudication of those children’s citizenship; we also need to have a full accountability of the children that were taken out of the arms of the parents that were sent out away, or into this Nation’s arms and disappeared as far as the National events are concerned!
All of those children need to be brought to justice at the Supreme Court’s processes and adjudicated for their rights and freedoms to be respected!
Aside from the aforementioned issue, the 14th amendment Section 3 , must be enforced just as the forefathers of this Nation intended!
Aside from the fact that they have been violated or protected they are to be considered Americans since this is the Nation, if still viable, regardless of the status at the entry of their parents, this is the only nation those children are cognizant of belonging!
We are not in Russia or any other nation that have horrible practices, where their identities are obliterated, we are better than that as Americans!
As we now have North Korean solders are used as pawns(?) in the Ukrainian war for the North Korean and Russian purposes the need for clear protection from these types of crimes, by extension we could also use the same Russian tactic’s if we don’t heed the historical content before us.
