Hearing that KFTC magazine is not going to be published anymore is very sad news. Thank you for the many years of great reading and thank you for this video. I hope you get a chance to post more like it. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you so much for everything you and your team have done. I actually just started training with a 7.5 lb Guan Dao and was ecstatic to see this video. My teachers and kung fu brothers and sisters all love Kung Fu Magazine. You've enriched so many people's lives and I'm grateful to you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks for the many years of great print publications. You've done immeasurable service to the art and traditions. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.
Many thanks SIfu for elaborating on the Guan Dao origin and use. I would hope that many more videos like this come to light as to give people history an understanding of the Martial Arts from China and elsewhere.
Just came across this video post. Seeing the same Kwan Dao set that my Sifu Master ken Hui taught me I feel excitement and inspiration. I love practicing with my heavy Kwan Dao. Stay safe and healthy! Sifu Hero And Legend
My thanks to you and GG for many years of inspiration and education. With regret, I suppose I cannot renew my subscription this year, nor can I pick up a new t-shirt at the Tiger-Claw SJ fest. Best wishes to you and the entire community.
Great video Gene. I almost felt like crying at the end. I'm gonna miss Kung Fu Tai Chi magazine. I've written for other martial art publications, but I really regret not doing anything for you. I also hope things are well enough by next year so you can have the heavy kwan dao competition. I'd love to enter that. It'll give me a great excuse to get back to California.
Thanks for the great video! Good work! You really should be proud for everything you made worldwide for the wushu/ kung fu! Receive my best regards straight from Brazil!
It’s nice seeing you in action again Gene Sihing! Makes me miss the Wing Lam days. Hope you are able to do another video. Along with your contribution with Adept comic, I’m happy to see your staying busy
Thank You for this 🙏 I recently purchased a 15 pound 1090 steel Guan Dao. I had no idea how heavy some of them were. Mine is hollow also. Perhaps I can work my way up to adding bearings 😊
So disappointing to see how the old school film scratches have been artificially applied for effect. The problem isn't that they are there, it's when they are artificially added, the effect is always over done! Films back in the day only had these imperfections which became atmospheric, they only had them sparsely.
It is so tragic that the modern "wushutainment" industry is actually a major contributor to the disappearance of traditional kung fu by displacing the weighty original in both history and importance with a shiny and literally lightweight substitute, taking both funding and quality practitioners away from the authentic. Shaolin temple "wushutainers" for instance are all dressed up for their cosplay but with an unsubtle and unspoken claim that THIS is the real deal. The supposed guardians themselves cheapening the treasures that they were supposed to safeguard. It is so tragic that the Chinese are doing it to their own heritage.
I grew up reading the magazine. Thank you soo much for what you did. Your magazines are priceless.
Keep traditional kungfu alive!
love the tribute to the Shaw. great job, much respects
