      @@buiscape not much besides let them do their thing. I know a lot of people remove the female to a separate tank before the babies hatch to maximize the yield of the young because they eat them.
      Other than that you can get hybrids with some luck by mixing two species but it’s not recommended because most of the time they will try and kill each other.
      Looking forward to more videos, if you ever need some collaborative help I’m always here. Love to support crab enthusiasts I started out with a tank almost identical to this except I used montecarlo and black lava rocks with ferns and Buce clumps I had.

    I personally would say that this tank is a little small for everything, especially the shrimp and crab. The crabs also need much more space to dig in.
    Mine have roughly 20cm deep soil that they love to dig in. You rarely see them because they usually hide digged in. If they don't get enough wet soil to dig in they might get issues with molding as well as getting babies.

    • @buiscape
      @buiscape  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've left this project for a week and the crabs were fine. However if you're going on longer trips I would suggest leaving a lot of insects for them as they'll eat accordingly. Springtails are a source of food for them, and I've seen them eat a bit of the plants too.

    • @elkimane
      @elkimane ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buiscape Im thinking of preparing the tank before adding them, like letting some plants grow, adding little snails and shrimp, possibly adding some water snails aswell and then after 1-2 weeks adding the springtails + other animals, and then adding the crabs so even if i go on a trip they can hunt the spring tails, grass, some ground worms etc.

I have black fluorite sand and small mm black lava rock, going to see how that works. I also have some cool cork tubes I've positioned vertically in a way that crabs should still be unable to get out. The cork sticks up out of the tank. So like cork skyscrapers. Hopefully going to source some nice dark slate pieces to incorporate. I'll have a pump in this one, but just for running water up and trickling over each tallest cork tube. I also have a plan to create a device to keep the crabs off the wire, which I thinkll work. Wish me luck, I enjoy your vids, keep going. Any other advice with any bacteria to establish the tank early on? Add snails and cleaner crew before surface plants?

    Amazing setup! Planning on getting some vampire crabs but how can I keep the land area warm enough for them? Also thought that they ate shrimps and snails so how do you prevent that from happening and are springtails necessary or can the snails and shrimp do a good enough job? (What types of shrimps and snails and springtails should I get?)

    • @buiscape
      @buiscape  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do fine in room temperature, no need for heat. They’re fairly durable little specimens. Spring tails will help with the ecosystem in the tank and act as food for crabs too

    Is the carpet of plants just growing on the rocks, or is their some other substrate there?

    • @buiscape
      @buiscape  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s substrate around the rock but once it starts to grow it can start growing on and over the rocks !

      It’s possible to grow this without substrate, it just needs a moist base.

    • @soop1565
      @soop1565 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I asked a vampire crab keeper if I can make something like this but they told me it lacks vegetation that the crabs wouldenjoy climbing on, and that it's not humid enough :(

    • @buiscape
      @buiscape  ปีที่แล้ว

      The caves I’ve created has a lot of moisture, the water level keeps the cave very moist where the crabs like to hide.

    • @buiscape

      Cherry shrimps are a good start as they're hardy and easy to keep! The more rare shrimps will most likely need specific parameters.
