  • Sam and Pete are back to recap a much needed win over ODU in Norfolk. Another suspect first half was overshadowed by a dominant 3rd and 4th quarter by the Hokies. Rutgers is up next, and despite some uneven performances, the boys feel good about VT's chances for revenge against the Scarlet Knights.

Go Hokies! You guys work hard to give us this content and it's appreciated very much. The team is improving week to week . They're not turning the ball over or committing senseless penalties. Let's see Kyron get loose on a big run early and get fired up. The whole team feeds off it as does the crowd. Looking forward to being in Lane Saturday.

Can’t believe I missed the Aslin event. Totally got the weeks messed up and could not find anything on SOS website. Sam, if you live around RF Golf Course, that water is nasty. I am actually more optimistic about this game than last 3. Great job as always.

It’s all about matchups - we have multiple awesome corners. A running QB would give us a lot more problems. Instead, you guys went out and got a primarily passing QB who sucks at passing.

@@petebvt Wimsatt was dead last in the FBS in passing percentage the last 2 years. Literally dead last. Under 50% both years. Teams were just stacking the box because he was a non threat in the passing game. Athan also isn't a statue like they are saying. Not sure where they got that. He has at least ten runs of 15 yards or more over the past 2 years.

@@davidannetta3508 I think he’s a lot less dynamic in the run game than Wimsatt. And I’d gladly take the trade-off of having a slightly better passer against us.

@@petebvt Wimsatt is definitely the better runner, no question about that but I’ll disagree with the “slightly” better passing game remark. They battled it out against each other in the spring and apparently the battle wasn’t even close. Good luck tomorrow, really looking forward to the game.

RU fan...enjoyed your honest self examinations of VT. I hope everyone at VT thinks Athan K stinks....he's 100 % upgrade over Wimsatt (made 50 % completions). In Wimsatts defense the RU wide receivers were bad last year. Huge improvement this year...we have guys that
can actually get separation AND make the catch. This years offense will score 10 points more per game regardless of opponent....last years offense was all run...zero pass. No question last years defense was better. We desperately need the two injured guys you mentioned (Powell & Bailey). RU secondary is very good...the strength of the D. Last year Max Melton was a stud...but a lot of depth in the DB room.
Most knowledgeable followers here predict a one score difference...and could go either way. 24 hours to kickoff !

This feels like a Rutgers win coming off a bye week with a healthy physical back that can run the rock. We haven’t played a full game all year, have “8-9” guys banged up per Pry, and can’t stop the run of lower level competition. This might be the game where people start to worry about making a bowl, followed by a Miami loss that makes us question who this team is and where this team is heading. Go Hokies :-(

Geezzz. Gilliam and Woodson starting are really good for this matchup. Expect to see much better run D than last year vs. Rutgers.

Against a better Rutgers team, coming off a bye week, with a back averaging 8 yards a carry? I don’t see it. We can’t even maintain gap consistency for a full game

It was Kyron's first start last year, but there was also no video on him. You talk about Rutgers' schedule, but who has VT beaten? A 19 point loss a year ago is a lot to make up.

The no tape is a good point. But it’s not just about who we’ve beaten, but the margin. Both 3 score victories in games we didn’t play our best. And both of those teams are way better than Howard and Akron.

I don’t think people outside of Rutgers fans watched enough of Rutgers play to appreciate the difference between these quarterbacks.
Whenever Rutgers had to do more than hand the ball off to Monongai against teams better than them Wimsatt managed to throw a pick six. He couldn’t hit water in a lake. It was really bad.
Say what you want about Kaliakmanis, but when Tech went to Piscataway last season, Wimsatt missed a number of drive killing passes. They were layups. Kaliakmanis can do the basics to keep drives going.
Rutgers can throw the ball now and has an offensive line that is better than their previous OLine.
This Tech team has a ton of issues and may be just as injured as Rutgers is, if not, then more.
Tech has the better receivers and they need to take advantage of that. How many purely athletic plays can Tech make on the outside against a really good secondary?
How good can a banged up Tuten be against a really good defense?

    • @petebvt
      @petebvt 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@@chayannetweh6259 I think Tuten is fine in reality, they’re just being cautious, but you ask good questions. Good points on Wimsatt, but I also don’t think anyone knows what you have in your quarterback quite yet, and I’m looking at his history and it’s not good. RU has played less than no nobody, and didn’t look super impressive in either contest. It’s no mystery what we need to do on defense stack the box and play man. On O, if we commit to the run and it’s moderately effective, I think we win the game.

No, I don’t think either will get in the top 25 with a W. Vandy loss will take a lot to overcome, and Rutgers needs to overcome their brand with at least 4 or 5-0 to get ranked.
