I just accidentally deleted a comment about a flash warning instead of pinning it like I meant to so SO sorry to whoever wrote it. But FLASH WARNING at 3:03- 3:11 So sorry I didn't put it in the video! Total lack of awareness from me and I will be better at picking up on that in future!
Thank you! Photosensitive migraine-haver here, and you would not believe the minefield that is TH-cam... I very much appreciate you committing to warnings.
This! I'm a stage manager, and I would never claim my job is as hard as that of a healthcare worker, but it's also nice for people to acknowledge how much work goes into a show. I regularly work 14 hour days, and I often have to work through breaks (if I even have a break scheduled). I love it, but working in theatre is exhausting.
I work in theatre administration, and even with my ordinary 10-6 shifts, as a receiving house so much work goes into getting these shows booked, contracted and on sale in the first place to give my techs some work to do! I also do am dram as a hobby so experience the long get in and tech as a performer too 😅
My friend/drama teacher from school is about to be in Panto and has spent weeks making all his costumes. They are epic and so detailed but it means he’s spent weeks sewing before he even goes into rehearsals. It’s been years and I know school productions are nowhere near like a professional performance but tech run was always the longest day of the rehearsals.
Dear Carrie, I'm a resident physician to become a psychiatrist and I can assure you that your job is more life and death than you think. It saves so many of us everyday. It makes us feel things, connects us to ourselves and others , it makes us dream and hope again, it creates a safe space to be human. It can be that rope that saves a person, or the lifeline one holds on to during hard times. And it is a very hard job, mostly because you have to live trough your own emotions every day when playing a part. Doing a job one loves doesn't make it less worth.
I feel like you are entering your best period right now, Carrie. You can see your happiness and confidence radiate. I'm so happy for you and I can't wait to follow your adventures!!
This video has just had me in floods of tears. But why you ask? I've lived locally to Canterz (what everyone from my home town lovingly refers to it as) practically my whole life until 2020, I was born there, went to uni there, spent most weekends there. We had a yearly tradition in my family to go to the 10:30am Christmas eve performance until 2020 and that whole dumpster fire came and rip it away from us. I recently moved away to Cyprus because of being a military wife, and it seemed like the opportunity of a life time. But seeing this video and all the street I've spent my life time walking around has shown me that Canterz truly holds my heart and if I'm ever in a financial position to move anywhere close to it I will in a heart beat. No one will likely read this, but I needed to reconcile the overwhelming feeling that came bursting from my heart ♥️
Said that you don't save lives but I disagree. Well it may not be instant life or death I've had theater save me numerous times from ending my own life. You do more than you know Carrie. I just really honestly hope you will know the difference you're making in people's lives. Theater is that escape that we all need from time to time. So thank you for doing what you love and helping other fellow humans a long the way.
Being a noob, I was so confused to hear you call yourself Carabosse for Sleeping Beauty when you were CLEARLY Maleficent, and then I realized "oh, Im a dummy, they're the same person just called different things in different forms of media" Maleficent is my *dream* role to play as I LOVE a good villain and damn is she just one of the best of the best at villainy. I'm SO EXCITED to watch you bring your Carriebosse to life!!🧡💜 Also, obviously, MAJOR CONGRATS on your engagement!!!!!!🎉
Love a panto and was lucky enough to see opening night and you were MADE for this. The accent. The physicality. The voice. The way you were so clearly thriving. All of it. Truly panto villain perfection! Thanks for a night of pure joy!
Carrie I’m so happy you still vlog. You bring me all the comfort in the world and I just cry watching your videos because I feel so happy and proud for you. Seeing your journey and the way you’ve grown (and how I’ve grown watching you for the past 7-ish years) just makes me emotional❤ lots of love always
I lived in Canterbury for 4 years whilst at uni and I loved it so much! Watching this video has made me miss it so much and brought a tear to my eye seeing the places I love so much!
Carrie, it’s great to see your regular vlogs again and watching you shine through as you find yourself again. Me and mine came to the panto last night and just wanted to thank you and the whole amazing cast, production and everyone behind the scenes for an amazing show!! Everyone was absolutely outstanding and the energy was electric! All the best 😊
I remember in theatre school, the go-to phrase for tech week was "Hurry up and Wait." Such mixed periods of go go go, but then you could be waiting for you don't know how long until they needed you on stage again. But you could get that summons at any point in the day. Woudn't trade it though, so much cast and crew bonding during tech week!
When I saw you were doing panto , I was indeed hoping that a vlog series was on the way. I really miss doing panto as gigs and standard theatre took over. Thank you so much for the acknowledgement of just how hard crew and those behind the scenes work. In a difficult time for the industry and with a lot of people leaving because of the state that it is in, every one of us thoroughly appreciate little moments like that.
Thanks for taking us along again. Apart from everything you show us "behind the scenes" I always love all of the small glimpses of life in England. I miss it so much 😢. Greetings from Germany (where Stollen comes from) and have a wonderful Christmas season, Carrie. 💚
Carrie, this vlog was exactly what I needed right now. Seeing your videos are like coming back to an old friend who I love. Love you! It's so great to see you so happy. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Hi Carrie! I just got home from seeing this at the Marlowe, and I won’t lie I was absolutely IN AWE of you the entire time. You are an absolute inspiration to me, and though my chances of entering a career in musical theatre are low as I desperately cannot sing, I still love watching people do what I wish I could. Keep on doing this kind of thing, it was amazing to see you live tonight!!!
Your tech chat reminded me that for my recent show (which was amateur but in a professional theatre!) the tech crew had just one day to get familiar with the show, the sets and all the light and sound design before we did the dress rehearsal!
Love the Christmas times ❤ I’ve had a tough year and about to move intrastate but just before chrissy I’ll be in my new home with my brother and be able to truly be absorbed into the happiness once more.
Loved the discussion about teching a show at the end! Even when I was in college, we had 9am till 10pm days every once in a while, so I can't imagine the intensity for professional shows. I love the shirt you're wearing in that segment too!
YES! I do grassroots local cabaret circuit in my area and what people may not realise is when you’re that small you do EVERYTHING: your own music , choreo, costume ( and mending of), makeup and sometimes helping do FOH too! My day job is drastically different from my gigs but they are both demanding and challenging in different ways.
I just wanted to say I watched the panto last night and you were AMAAAAZING. I’m so glad I got to see you belting your lil heart out! Unlike Carrie-bosse, you’re so genuinely sweet and kind to everyone. Especially at stage door - thank you :) I wish you all the best for the rest of your run ❤️x
Carrie if you want any escape rooms in Canterbury, you have to go to Escape Kent!! In particular you should really do the Asylum room. My friend works there and she got us in and it was so much fun!!! Saw you on opening night and you were just incredible. 💕
I'M GOING TO SEE THIS NEXT WEEK!!! My family's gone to the Marlowe Theatre panto every year for the past 7 years and I've always wanted to see you perform live so I cannot wait!
I am so excited to be able to see this panto. It will be the first show I've seen you in despite wanting to see everything you've been in for years 😅 but I get the chance now and I am so incredibly excited!! love getting a behind the scenes too, panto is so fun!
Incredibly excited to see this show, Panto is just. Such ridiculously wonderful chaos every year, and these blogs are a great look into that particular brand of chaos 😂
So lovely to see you vlogging your days at the theatre again. 💙 I’ve missed these videos a lot. Hoping this show will be a better experience for you than C seems to have been!
I work in canterbury - coffee wise I'd recommend Lost Sheep Coffee or Love Brownies Cafe. Food wise Azouma (it's outside the city walls) and Possillipo (round the back of the cathedral)
Watching this makes me so nostalgic for my university days... even though they haven't long been over, I studied in the wonderful cants (Canterbury) for 4 wonderful years until summer this year (2022) and I am about to hand in my final dissertation, watching this is making me feel so reminiscent very Christmassy and a tad emotional knowing which streets your going down and places you reference etc I got so excited when I was your doing Panto at the Marlowe this year its a beautiful venue... just very bummed I JUST missed out on being able to see your shows! However, I hope you have the best time and I hope Canterbury is treating you well its lovely seeing the streets packed with people for the annual lights switch on it was always freezing but always such a highlight
I don't know why your vlogs sometimes get me teary even though it's not an emotional video maybe it's you being in my local city and seeing you go past places I recognise? 😂 I can't wait to see you/Carriebosse on the 7th January!
As a nurse who has also done theater- I would NEVER call acting easy. It's certainly more fun, but a 12 hour day is a 12 hour day and those are never easy!
Yay Captain Captain ((Jennie Dale) is with you. My daughter loves her and she is fab in all the cbeebies pantos. Fantastic actress along with your wonderful self
Please could you put a strobe warning on for the strobe lighting at the time of the 'rave bus' bit? I could have had a seizure had I not clicked off of the video. A warning would be very appreciated from an accessibility standpoint. Thanks.
I saw the show on Friday and it’s definitely one of the best pantos I’ve seen! Absolutely hilarious. And I got ridiculously soaked in the third row stalls 😅 Also, you look like you’re having the absolute best time, and that makes me so happy! 🤍
That is so true about tech.😅 I used to perform in Six Form & in Amatur Dramatics (not for some time). Tech was grueling. I needed this vlog after an afternoon shift at work.💖 Keep your chin up; you rock, Carrie; enjoy being the villain.🤣
Saw the very positive review on the panto from Mickeyjo Theater and I loved the velociraptors' names. Although wouldn't Sauron be a great way to refer to ALW? I enjoyed your vocals in Cinderella but hope my comment isn't making you have bad memories. Being in the US, I miss the Christmas panto.
I've done a few professional shows before and tech SUCKS. It is so boring but so crucial, and I completely agree with you that it is knackering. But I also agree that once the show has opened, it is so worth it. But yeah, tech week/days are one of the worst parts of acting. Break a leg with panto, I'm sure you'll be villanous (not sure if that's a word)
RE the dress button - if you can't find the spare one that comes with the dress, could always nab one from the bottom of the dress and put it in the gap? I'm a menace for losing buttons so that's how I tend to deal with it! The show looks so fun! I hope even through the exhaustion you have a good time, the kind of tired that comes from doing Fun Things ... ideally followed by a heck tonne of naps to replenish energy for said fun things... haha
right?! (i’m biased as she’s been a dance and singing teacher of mine but she’s so great and it’s really cool to see her in my favourite youtubers vlogs!)

As a photosensitive epileptic I really appreciate this warning! Thanks Carrie xx

Please could you put a strobe warning on for the strobe lighting at the time of the 'rave bus' bit? I could have had a seizure had I not clicked off of the video. A warning would be very appreciated from an accessibility standpoint. Thanks.
Can’t wait to see the panto on Friday - BTW Pork and Co have a stall at Whitstable Harbour now.
Yes like the show was good time
I love how your dressing room is named after the christopher Marlowe play Docotor Faustus, are the other dressing rooms the same? Xx
I saw the show on Friday and it’s definitely one of the best pantos I’ve seen! Absolutely hilarious. And I got ridiculously soaked in the third row stalls 😅
Also, you look like you’re having the absolute best time, and that makes me so happy! 🤍
I WORK AT AN ESCAPE ROOM. please if you are ever in or near norwich id love to give you guys a game

Great video Carrie, you always make really good content 🎅🎄⛄
i always joke with stollen saying we cant have it otherwise we would get in to trouble as its stollen :D just a play on the pronunciation of both
My mum played carrabose for her panto bout 6 years ago and she used to scare me but I love her to bits also Canterbury is really close to ms
If you do fancy an escape room in Canterbury - Escape the Towers @ One Pound Lane is super fun!
Aww that lady from c beebies panto is awesome x x x
Yey a new video of yours :)
I've done a few professional shows before and tech SUCKS. It is so boring but so crucial, and I completely agree with you that it is knackering. Pork & co is the best! Jump on a train to Margate, there is one there! ☺️
This makes me miss doing our local panto! 😭 It's just the most fun atmosphere! Granted our was a lot smaller and we only did one performance per day 😅
Do you have little traditions for each show you do, like in Cinders you had words on a card for each day?
RE the dress button - if you can't find the spare one that comes with the dress, could always nab one from the bottom of the dress and put it in the gap? I'm a menace for losing buttons so that's how I tend to deal with it!
The show looks so fun! I hope even through the exhaustion you have a good time, the kind of tired that comes from doing Fun Things ... ideally followed by a heck tonne of naps to replenish energy for said fun things... haha
Are those Haunted Mansion leggings?! Your outfit in those clips is rehearsal life goals 👏👏
AAA I’m first to a vid i love you so much Carrie you are my idol you are the reason I’m doing acting and perusing my dream

I love this video and I know it’s about you but Jennie dale is an icon ❤
