Thanks for the simple video . It took as long as your video to do the install. The hardest part was squishing myself into the fridge so when I close the door I could see if it works.
This is great thank you / We have had 2 Rv trailers and the refrigerators suck, We just ordered a fan unit after watching this video, Happy road trips to you/ Fred California.
Did the directions you received with this unit say to install it this way? I ask because I purchased from the same site and the directions say to run the line through the drain tube. I'd prefer to install it the way you did.
My directions said to wire it to the fridge light. The drain tube would be a problem because you would see a wire coming out of the tube, then going back into the vent cover to connect to a 12V source.
You connected it to the wrong side of the switch, put the piggyback on the feed(line side) of the switch. You connected it to the load side, so it only comes on when you open the door.
The wires are very small, so I estimate .5 to 1 amps depending on the model you get. I got the one with the toggle switch so I could turn them off when boon docking
Nice video. I usually start my fridge the night before i leave on a trip and my question is should i turn this on the same time i turn on fridge or wait till im ready to put my food in?
Yes, turn the fan on when you turn the fridge on, it will help it cool down. We turn our fridge on the day before also, if we forget we put a bag of ice in freezer after it has been on about an hour.
Thomas Polinze need to use one of these connectors so you can hook both wires to the line side of the switch . My fan came with one. Can you please post a picture of the line side connection. Mine currently is hooked to the switch side contact and shuts off when I close the fridge. Thanks.
Steve fowler , it is the top contact spade. The fan should have come with a special slide on connector that also has a spade to essential attach both the fan and fridge wires to the top contact spade.
FL Weekend Warriors do you have an email I can send a picture of my fridge light. Once I send the picture can you circle on the picture the contact spade I slide the fan spade on the correct contact. Thanks
You need a piggyback style female connector and connect both the light and fan to the hot side of the light switch. Just Google it and they will pop up from Amazon. Get the red one due to the small wires.

@@FLWeekendWarriors I emailed the company. I don't think my refrigerator works to the light. He said to wire it through the drain to the power source in the back. Thanks for your reply
They also make fans that help vent the outside of the unit. I would try contacting someone at the RV Unit Cooling Warehouse and see what they have for your particular unit. rvcoolingunit.com/
We just keep food in the fridge. We keep all our drinks in a Dometic CFX 75 DZ cooler. The constant opening the door to get drinks makes it hard for these types of refrigerators to keep up.

Thank you, have a great summer!
Thanks, I bought one of these and wasn't sure about the install. I plan to put it on this weekend. Take care!

Awesome! I knew to add a fan but had no idea which would work best and be easiest to install. THANK YOU!
My directions said to wire it to the fridge light. The drain tube would be a problem because you would see a wire coming out of the tube, then going back into the vent cover to connect to a 12V source.
So, when I connect to that tab the fan goes off when I turn off the light. I have the same light as you. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks,
Mike

Great tip. Thanks.
How much do these fans draw, and how much does it reduce battery life when boondocking?

That's cool however when the refrigerator door is shut in the light is off I don't think the fan will be receiving power I may be wrong though

@@FLWeekendWarriors ok cool thanks
Temperature differences ( before and after ) would have been more of a convincing point.
Temperature is going to be relatively the same. This fan helps the fridge run more efficient and cool everything effectively
Good info. What brand of fan are you using that makes install so easy?

My frigerator is facing the sun. Without the awning being out....what else can I do? Ita always almost too windy for the awning.
Will the fan your talking about be what I might need? My frig fan keeps coming on and its loud.
Does the fan blow air onto the fins, or does it pull air from the fins and blow it out towards fridge door?
Joshua Seal the fans blow air into the fins
my frige does not have a light? can i still install this?
It would be difficult, I would try a battery fan first and see if that helps. That’s what I was using before I installed this one.
I wish you would’ve posted a link to the fan in the description. Or at least the make and model

any updates? hows it working?
It works good, but I need to replace it already. One of the two fans recently quit working.

It’s hard to see in the video the line side connection
