I was at this, got free tickets from the Hackney council as we lived in the local area. Had been an Andy C fan since his early days. He absolutely smashed it as always.
Jesus Christ BRO. I didnt know that this was on BBC! Quality is still better than i have ever heard in other records. Yes, thi is one of the biggest recorder Andy C live set. From BENGER to BENGER. Andy C is a legend. He moved DnB to another level.
This mix holds a place in my heart, discovering this set on TH-cam over a decade ago when I first started really getting into dnb following the dubstep years, ukf, pendulum, etc. It was my first exposure to Andy and this style of 3 deck mixing, all of his gestures mixed in with the concentration of keeping everything in time. Its still one of my favorite Andy sets, a constant flow from start to finish, plus a rare online video with GQ and Andy together..
Very true, always been a Andy C fan myself after discovering him as a 16 year old at a Rave for under 18's in 2011 called Under The Radar. Amazing to see the levels of stardom he has achieved in the game ever since, whenever Andy is a line-up you must see him, a wizard on the decks just like DJ EZ is within the UKG scene.
Social media apps such as Snapchat and insta just came out then so people weren't so self obsessed with capturing everything. Not to mention the cameras quality on the phones were awful. I'm glad I hit the raves in this era, the crowd went more crazy man @@tuberantz4676
*Mixing masterclass:* timing, in key (mostly), high + lows, impeccable volume control on the doubles/triples. Plus Andy's performing to thousands and live on R1. No biggie 😎
u know 😎- I was lucky enough to be behind him last month when he played at XOYO, on a Sunday. It was rammed. He bust the sound system when he played Babylon Splash 😂he's even older than me, and that's saying something. 30 years later - WE STILL HERE as Andy says himself, "drum and bass is life"...
There used to be a video of this set on YT back in the day; audio only with some still images as the video - was always curious to see what the crowd were like. Thanks for uploading - have listened to this set so many times. Absolute banger 💥💥💥
One of the best Sets ever done for me. That got me into mixing and even more into dnb after Pendulum and dnb 2012 era. I feel like this was on of the big changes for festival dnb. Remember me taking years to figure out all the double drops and tracks used, good times
Yeah man, this period was a sick one! I'm the same brother, literally got into dnb at the same time. The dubstep era was amazing to be apart of aswell. I feel nowadays, dnb has less of a driving force in it's production. Drums are alot shorter and lighter, basslines are more grittier. Not complaining tho, the scene is bigger than ever. I just feel this sorta sound in dnb is more vibey and has more impact in the raves you know! Love it all 🔥
The best I've seen were XOYO residency in 2017 & 2018 , 6 hour sets at Fabric and Electric Brixton, and he did a neurofunk set at Virus Recording birthday at the Steelyard (2018) as he was announced as a special guest the same night.
I'm not sure if this is true, but I recall reading that money may have been a factor. Plus Andy's tour schedule, and the music Andy was moving towards.
@trav8787 yeah could see that being true to be honest. More about the music than the MC now with Andy C. Ton Piper is more of a hype man than a MC and I suppose if that's what he wants then fair play. Thanks.
@trav8787 like what you said I think that definitely can play a factor. Since this I have seen GQ MC at Critical Sound record label events at Fabric (London), so he is still about, just obviously not with Andy
er...instant sub 😎 // Saw Andy at XOYO a few weeks back, he hasn't lost any of his infectious enthusiam // it's only 11 years old, but the crowd are much more lively here than they usually are now // not like the early 90s though 🤣 // this one just for me: 29:20 // 08:40
Would be hard to filter out as this was from a live recording, if you like the track listing specifically someone has posted the Set Playlist in the comments, so can listen individually to tracks

Me too!!
I've seen Andy C twice! Each time he is amazing! Drops tons of new drum and bass that I haven't heard before!
Wish I was born a decade earlier this just looks unreal, no smart phones to be seen mental.
Mate it's all up to you guys now; take this music and run with it... 😎
We had smart phones then lol

shame the MC is twice as loud as the music :( MCing is fine but not when it overpowers the music!
This MC doesn't stop singing...
He wants to appear more than the DJ and his songs with lines.
Shut up for 30 seconds please.

Why does GQ not MC with Andy C anymore? So much better than Ton Piper IMO.
