It’s not a good look to come to our country and have this attitude to our police force, who are being very patient with this idiot. This is not America, our laws and methods are not the same.

This guy is exactly what can piss the Brits right off. He comes to another country and expects our law to be American law, really!? How the cops kept so patient with him I don't know. I don't make a habit of praising cops but this lot deserve congratulating for putting up with his crap. British Law is not American Law and you don't get treated by your own countries law when you're travelling. You abide by the laws of the country you're in. Who would think of it any other way???

The laws are different in the UK as are the officers rights to detain someone. The laws of the US constitution do not travel with you. Know the laws of the land or you may find yourself in trouble. I'm in Canada and we see it here... people from the US arguing with officers and spouting constitutional reasons why the police can't do something.... but it's the US constitution, not the Canadian one. It's a good way to end up arrested.

I've fallen short a few times in Spain, nothing major, I left my passport in the safe in my hotel. A quick frisk, a check of the name on my bank cards and the paper receipt for the car hire in the glove box was enough. This escalated because he was acting like a jerk.

The story, as I understand it is, these two men were not stopped at random, the building they're outside is a hotel/hostel where both of them were staying. The police had a report of a serious sexual assault in the toilet of the building, when they arrived they found these two outside the front door. At the time they didn't even know how many suspects they were looking for, so both of them could've been involved.

This guy is so rude and thinks he can tell the cops what to do! Just do what has been asked and things will go a lot smoother. This is not America!

Different country = differnent laws. The American and his laws do not have jurisdiction outside America.
What an ignorant guy. I am actually amazed he found his way to the UK considering the education system in the US

In the UK the police can detain you for up to 24 hrs without charging you. The 24 hrs can be extended by a senior police officer up to 36 hrs.

It';s bad enough that your countrymen come over our here and disrespect our police officers. But what makes it even worse is that the "educated" person commentring on the video understands both sides.. There are no both sides. Try disrespecting the police officers in your own country and see what happens.

Impossible to comment unless one knows the details of the offence where both people it would appear were in the vicinity of crime scene where one witness it would appear stated black or white but even then the two could be involved as friends or the witness could have seen the event wrongly and the list of possibilities goes on which is why perhaps both were asked to remain though again all pointless unless the details are given in the video.
