    Nice work everyone! The JZ Amethyst is a really great mic on anything, but they really rock for Glyn Johns style drum overheads! BTW, I think Walter Becker is smiling somewhere after hearing Warren's solo. Cheers from South Wales, NY, USA! -chaz

    Anybody else notice that the acoustic guitar is playing A-7 (contains C natural), and the piano and rhythm guitar are playing A7 (contains C#) so it clashes? You can hear it clearly in the intro, and whenever that E-7 - A7 pattern comes in. It bugs me. Am I crazy? (don't answer that...). Very cool and groovin' project otherwise.

      Definitely!! I heard it immediately and was shocked, frankly. Doesn't work for me and I can't believe that was allowed to pass! I was going to mention it, myself, but you got there first...and I'm so glad I wouldn't have been the only one point it out! Otherwise, excellent job! Warren plays great guitar! I'm very impressed!!

    First of all, those drums sound amazing.
    Second, thanks for the tip about setting the SSL so that the EQ is running into the compressor. I use the SSL plugins from Plugin Alliance. I just checked the manual and figured out how to reverse the order so that the EQ is before the compressor. I never realized I could do that. I'm going to try it out on my next mix. I've experimented with EQ before compression and vice versa before, but that was when I used a series of plugins. It never occurred to mess with the processing order on a channel strip.
    Part of why I love this channel is your videos give me a bunch of little cool things to try on my next mix.

    JZ mics are at least a company you can go with and not regret it.
    For me, the microphone buying journey has always been the hardest to be a confident buy.
    It’s like choosing the type of salt for a recipe… in might not make all the difference most of the time, but for certain things it absolutely does… then you don’t want to be stuck to only perfecting one dish.
    I feel like the mic swapping plugin that came out gives me a bit more confidence to not worry too much over this decision.
    I had thought of only getting three mics for vocals now to get the most out of that plugin.

    watching these consoles (I bought myself an old behringer MX 9000 just to turn knobs..) it seems you can do much bolder EQ moves , like -9db on the console , when I do that on a plugin, it sounds weird and makes me nervous

    Hi...why are every pro engineer meters clipping...do you clip gain?...I'm really wondering

    • @TransistorLSD
      @TransistorLSD ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about analog SSL? It saturates in a good way when you push it into the red.
      In a DAW however... it doesn't matter in 32-bit FP and 64-bit FP DAWs - it stays clean even in the red.
      Most modern plugins also don't clip above 0DbFS in a nasty way, they can saturate more if it's an analog emulation - and that's it.

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Peak indicators are really just that, clipping is an audible thing, always best to go what you hear. Partuclary because with 32 bit floating the likelihood of clipping is pretty remote.
