Hi Noël! The book sounds sweet, I've never heard of the book either. The title reminds me of "The Boxcar Children." I read some of the series as a child. An erasable pen sounds great. I like the traditional bookmark with a tassel too. I remember those shiny ones in the 90s with the tassels. I loved choosing the picture, usually horses or dolphins for me. Lol. Turning the "ugly" fruit into dried fruit is a great idea! Sounds yummy too! After hearing your reading this reminds me of a movie, I can't for the life of me think of the title right now. Definitely dilute the oil blend well to anyone putting it on their skin with the peppermint oil in there. In 100% pure form they can all irritate the skin but peppermint oil burns A LOT (speaking from an accidental personal story). Beautiful presentation from Katie as always.
I almost read this book once for a book club but ended up not participating in it. I'm glad to hear it was the kind of story you needed; it's great when you get a book just at the right time. The raspberry iced tea and dried nectarines were probably my favorite items; they seem like the perfect summery snacks for a summery read. I saw that Mansfield Park is going to be the pick for the winter box, so I'll probably be re-subscribing for that one. Since I have so many of my own classics in special editions, most of which I've read already, I don't want to get every box, but I can't say no to Jane Austen. While I decided to skip the fall box with The Tenant of Wildfell Hall because it's not my favorite Bronte novel and for budget reasons, I'm already feeling the FOMO about it. If she ever does Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights (which would be a fantastic Halloween box pick), I'm gonna have to get them for sure, lol.
I love old books that are not particularly politically correct, because it's kind of like a history/sociology lesson through fiction. So sorry about the fires-- it really is heartbreaking. Nowhere is safe it seems-- Siberia, Hawaii, Canada-- nowhere. I hope Hawaii will recover quickly!
Sounds like it's going to be a few months before power is restored and several years before it's somewhat rebuilt I'm just hoping the banyan tree makes a full recovery.
