I can't express how happy I am to see and know how important Watanabe finally got to be to this game, after years of me crying and nearly quitting the game over no news since Astral. Him getting a new frame was more than enough already, but to know he has been given so much significance as well... honestly, it made me emotional last July (when it was announced) and it makes me emotional right now. To me, he's the most 'human' character in PGR - exhausted, backed into a corner, but still determined to push through for the sake of his people. I'm just so happy Kuro honoured him well.
I agree with you. After finishing his chapter, I recommend that people try to get through it. His arc has been my favorite thus far and I don’t know how it can be surpassed. The lore, the character development, story progression, and THE OST. 10/10

I think what I especially like about his arc is that it's not really about supernatural power ups or eldritch abominations.. it's simply about human dynamics, and how they're faring in the face of an apocalypse. The showdown between Ballard and Wata felt more impactful than most other, more flashy and physics defying fights.
@@ohio2561 Other characters at least get leaps or actually badass coatings. ACW came 2 patches after Lee, yet in CN she gets a Leap first and has the most SFX coatings in the game right now. Plus no new Lightning attacker replacing her as of now. And here we have Lee, a Gen 2 Attacker, who gets outDPSd not only by the new Fire Attacker Lucia but also by his own team's Tank. He also only has 1 SFX coating which is a jokey summer one, still doesn't have time lag calculation on his 1st Signature and he still doesn't have a Leap. Yet storywise he's supposed to be the strongest frame firmly on the good guys' side. The only other character who gets shafted this much is Nanami Starfarer but even Nanami gets a shiny new frame again in CN.
They gave him the best moveset ever but its such a shame that his dmg is underwhelming, but at least thats only in meta perspective. He is still stupidly op for every non-competitive mode and Im sure as hell will never give up using him
Kuro doesn’t hate Lee, it’s the CNcels who play the game that force kuro shaft Lee who actually hate him. If you didn’t know kuro originally made Lee much stronger than he his now (actually had 2 times tops, much more damage and 0 core passive cooldown) but a bunch of CNcels began whining about how a male character is the the best unit in the game now and forced kuro to nerf him. After Wata’s release fire team had 2 males on its team which made rotation unbearable for CNcels because they can’t fathom the existence of cool males in gacha games as it reminds them how pathetic they are irl, so they began whining like babies again and forced kuro to powercreep Lee even tho fire was already one of the best teams unlike when Nanamech got powercrept when fire was one of the worst teams being actively held back by her
Yes, I will definitely pull for him! 😄 I still have Watanabe (the Astral frame) as an Attacker on my Dark Team. I'm glad that his Epitaph frame finally come. He's just so cool, both gameplay and lore wise. And of course, Lucia, Lee, and Liv (Gray Raven Team), also Luna has been my favorites as well. I'm hooked into the story. 😌 So yeah, I will be pulling him for Luna: Oblivion and Lucia: Pyroath later on. It's a win-win here! 😄
I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve been waiting for him to get a new frame for SO long! For him to have an S rank frame, I love him so much that I built up Watanabe: Astral to be stronger than any of my S ranks to compensate and have him in my main Dark team. Now I can finally have him as a S rank and be META too! Best of all, he’ll be on the Fire team with Lee and Liv, then my other favorite-Lucia!!! 🎉
I found one of my people! I too built Astral to be my strongest character and always used him for dark zone, despite having Luna. I reluctantly had to pull for Lamia, but only because I knew Epitaph is coming out soon.
Me too! Astral is easily the frame I have the most investment in. And I've never even considered replacing him in the dark team till I have his new frame in the fire team. I think I will soon now though, since I also really like Lamia and already have her decently built.

It's just that the ease of damage is far too skewed in Lamia's favour (understandably) and I don't really have the time to mald as much as before. It's free if you have enough Blueprints saved up! Blueprints can be obtained from the dorm for free, but they take a while to accumulate. Fortunately, his coating will always be available in the shop so there's no rush.

I waited for this video to ensure I don't regret my decision. Yes, I will be pulling since I don't have starfarer and I want to at least try to build 1 meta team for my own enjoyment. Watanabe is easily one of my favorite characters in the whole game, and it's been forever since he's had a new frame, (SSS+ Astral is still probably my most used dps overall to this day xD) I am so ready, 55,000 bc ready. I totally understand your sentiment towards Ayla too, she's another top favorite, so this has to be one of my most hype patches. ❤

He is still the best choice until Nanaknight is on global of course, but if you want to pull Uncle just for Luna (which i doubt a lot of people will do, you pull Uncle for your fire team before anything else) + plan to hyper-invest in her, you can consider waiting for Nanaknight to fill the spot while waiting for the true 1st Void S rank tank. ps: Void is still not that great pps: If you think Uncle is broken (he is), just wait for Nanaknight.

In my teams, even tho I both have Hyperreal and Epitaph maxed up to S tier (currently), it still amazes me how he outscales my Hyperreal damage with his elemental defense reduction, he's more like a chunky Attacker than a offensive Tank.

I don't like to pull for guys, but you're giving a pretty compelling argument for Watanabe Epitaph, Lina. I do like a strong fire team and I'm looking forward to Luna Oblivion so I kinda want to get him. The issue though is that I'm not sure if I'll have enough for both him and Qu: Shukra, who I also value a lot since my Ice team is in dire need of help. I still have my selector banner, but I was thinking of using it for Feral Scent so I can at least get my main, Crimson Weave, an S Rank teammate finally. Got him on my first pull after reinstalling the game specifically due to the release of this banner. Then got punched in the gut by his event story, and he now gets regular headpats in the Dorm. I haven't been able to assemble the rest of his team yet so he's running around with my Palefire and Rosetta atm but even playing "sub-optimally" things are going well. Heck, I might even spring for his Vincent Boothillentine skin when it drops. XD

I don't think he lost his left eye? I haven't played the story but if it's anything like Metal Gear Rising (which is what Epitaph is partially inspired by) the "blindfold" is in fact a camera or screen that feeds directly into his frame's visual receptors.
I know that watanabe gonna be in blue target, but Qu: Shukra gonna be too? I am new and have Lee hyperreal and Liv emp, but don't want to wait until december or january because i liked this watanabe but i like Qu too, if she's going to blue target i can wait for her
I have to skip them cuz I'm going for Luna though I did not know he was good on her team considering anytime I try to look for any information on the current meta you know like videos breaking it down or tearless your stuff like that there's just not that many of them that are up-to-date it would be cool if y'all made a new tier list including all the characters in the CN version
I will never skip anymore no matter what, I did that to scire and I regretted it cause she was so fun to use, I did get her a few months ago though, now she's SS with a 6 star weapon and a CUB. (I have most of the newer S ranks cause returned in Nanamech patch late.)
Since I took a break in Lamia patch, I won't be able to secure both Qu and Watanabe. I'll definitely pick him up when Teddy patch comes (Sorry 21...guess my lightning team will have to keep Lux around a little longer)

Got him on my first pull after reinstalling the game specifically due to the release of this banner. Then got punched in the gut by his event story, and he now gets regular headpats in the Dorm. I haven't been able to assemble the rest of his team yet so he's running around with my Palefire and Rosetta atm but even playing "sub-optimally" things are going well. Heck, I might even spring for his Vincent Boothillentine skin when it drops. XD

I don't think he lost his left eye? I haven't played the story but if it's anything like Metal Gear Rising (which is what Epitaph is partially inspired by) the "blindfold" is in fact a camera or screen that feeds directly into his frame's visual receptors.
